It was tournament time again. Akio always loved when it was tournament time. The battles, the food, the whole atmosphere it made them amazing. As a tamer the tournament was always his favorite part. He wanted to become stronger, so by watching the tournament he could gain insight in how to be a better battler. Watching those battles he could see their timing in battles. Things like when they scan their cards in battle. The timing of their attacks and how they counter when other attack. Even in the shortest of battles there was always something to be learned.
The rest of the tournament festivities were pretty impressive too. There were several vendors found around the tournament rings. There was a wide variety of things for sale. Mostly the vendors sold food and drinks but there were a few others there selling small knick knacks. There were even one or two vendors that were selling packs of cards. These were the vendors that were the most popular as everyone is always looking for that right card to finish off their decks. And with new cards coming out all the time there was always newer better cards to track down.
Lastly the other great thing about the tournament is that it would bring in a variety of tamers. Even if they weren't in the tournament they too would come and watch. Things could be learned from them as well. Things from as small as how they carried themselves to who their partner digimon was. Akio was excited to see what battles were to come, and what types of tamers the tournament would bring this time around.

Haru while at times was not the brightest chick around, but she was someone who greatly appreciated festivites like this whole grand prix existing. While she was not associating herself or her partner with the mess that the tamer gangs of Japan have been sort of causing amidst themselves, she was glad to see that even they can find a sort of common ground here. If only they would settle their frequent disputes in a manner like this. Yeah it may be still VIOLENCE, but it was good violence! Like those silly fake wrestling leagues countries like America had! If anything, the girl was just pleased to see so many people congregating like this and for once there not being any reason to hide anything. Every last person here had a Digimon or was in the know about it. While the Dark Net did make contacting folks who were also Digimon Tamers relatively easy, it was rare to see so many in one spot! For the most part, Haru was just enjoying her leisure time as a spectator for the upcoming matches. The girl was sitting by a corner, sipping a soda while her partner Tawna remained close by her side. The Plotmon was for the most part still trying to get used to so many varying Digimon wandering about. Though her tamer has reassured her time and time again in the past that she had nothing to worry about when it came to other partner Digimon, there was still the nagging feeling that just about anything could go wrong... even at a place like this. "I wonder how the matches are gonna go?" The girl would idly ask her partner, still having not decided on if she was going to bet on someone. In truth, she had only heard of the names of these individuals and the little blurbs about them... so it was somewhat hard to decided exactly on whom to bet on. Akio Higashi Haru Toriya Obito arrived in the areana area-- completely new to the area of the Shinjuku Busters Tower. He was only officiated in a few days ago, thanks to the support and welcoming aid of Akio-- the senior tamer of the Busters. He helped him fight a powerful wild Digimon and in turn helped bring him in as a member. For Obito, he needed all the help he could get when it came to being a tamer. Though Panthermon was a fount of good advice, it didn't calm the nerves of not knowing what to do as a Digimon tamer, let alone the risks considering he was attacked by a bad tamer himself. That event rattled him badly and made him more cautious. But now he was among other Tamers like him, and ones willing to help out one another. After hearing about the tournament, Panthermon convinced Obito to come here today. It was a good opportunity. Obito always fancied going into the card tournaments to play and perhaps earn more cards-- but this was a digimon vs Digimon fight between two tamers. Hopefully, nothing with death on the line. And while Obito was rather skilled and creative with card combos, it would be a golden opportunity to learn from some of the bests. How could he pass this up? Obito and Panthermon stepped out of the elevator that opened to the top floor of the arena, where the combatants would participate. As he entered the section, it wasn't as crowded as others-- considering there were only a handful of tamers to begin with-- but the sight of them always made Obito feel baffled. To think there were so many others with Digimon parthers outside only a small handful. It really made Obito ambitious to learn more and apply himself-- even with school just around the corner. Many were children but there were even a few adults and kids his own age. Soon he walked down the steps-- and Panthermon gestured to find Akio sitting in one of the stands. Obito smiled and waved a hand. "Aiko-senpai!" Obito shouted and waved as he walked over to him. "How are you doing? I got your message."

Akio was getting ready to watch the matches. He headed to a few of the vendors around he picked up a bag of popcorn and a soda for himself before searching for a vendor of some digisnacks for Dracomon. They weren't as common as the vendors selling stuff for people but there were one or two that made specialized snacks for the digimon partner. He eventually found one and got some nice beef as the main flavor. They were done picking up their snacks when they ran into Obito. "Oh Hey there Obito. I'm doing well. How about you? Shall we go find a seat?" After picking up their snacks and running into Obito, Akio went to search for seats him and Obito and that he could reach Dracomon from. He eventually found a good set of seats near a girl with goggles. It was on the end so Dracomon could be right next to him. He handed his partner his snack. He took a look at his phone to check when the first round would start. Akio turned to his partner. "You ready for this. These tournament are always my favorite." Dracomon was busy stuffing his face. But he nodded in response agreeing, while continuing to stuff his face with his snack. "Don't eat it all at once." Akio joked. "Or you'll turn into your food." He gave a smile to his buddy before turning to his popcorn and enjoying a handful himself. Haru Toriya Obito Kamigawa

As folks of all shapes and sizes soon began to soon come into arean stands, it was good sign that soon one of the first matches would be starting eventually. There was still a huge amount of space for more spectators to flood into the arena stands, but at least it wasn't crowded at the moment. There wasn't a word as to whom exactly would be fighting in this first round, but honestly... Haru didn't mind. She was still somewhat a newer tamer, so perhaps seeing some more veteran displays of tamer-ship would be useful in the future. Figure out some better card strats and help Tawna get stronger. Seemed easy though in the right light. As the girl took a spot up in one of the rows of seats, it didn't take long for some more fellow tamers to arrive. An older-looking lean man with a tubby lung-esque Digimon and another guy who looked more her age with a sleek-looking black cougar Digimon. She gives them a friendly wave (her partner just kinda giving them a slight eye-ing before turning her attention back to the ring). "Hoy! What do you guys think of the contestants so far? I been trying to kinda debate who to bet on... but most of these folks are like, people I've never heard of before."

Haru Toriya Akio HigashiObito sat down near Akio as Panthermon sat next to him-- his long body taking up two spots on the bench as he sat there like a giant cat. He was shameless to sit there and just watched as the arena was alive with action. FOr Obito, however, he took to the events around him like a scholar to a lecture. He was anxious to be in the tower and wanted to learn all he could. "Huh? Oh, I'm fine... just a bit unsure about this,"Obito said to Akio, "These fights-- they aren't gonna end in the digimon deleted, will it?" He didn't want to think these fights were to the death. It was then that he heard the voice of a young girl across from them. Obito acknowleged her with a nod as he raised a hand to pat Panthermon. The giant cat just lounged there, welcoming Obito to pet his head and he purred. "I um... kind of new to all this," Obito said, looking out at the arena. "Not sure how I feel or who I would even want to win. How do battles between tamers normally work anyway?" he asked.

Well the matches hadn't started yet, so he guessed he could spend some time chit chatting. Although since it wasn't Dracomon he wasn't sure he would enjoy it as much. Small talk seemed a bit of a bother to him. He finished chewing the bit of popcorn he had just taken a bite of to begin speaking. "Well as far as betting the first round its hard to say. You only get that little blurb about each combatant. I usually just bet on who is favored to win the first round. Once you see a round though the betting becomes a little easier. You can get an idea how capable each tamer is. With that you can make a more informed decisions for the second round." Akio paused for a second. He grabed his drink and took a sip. Using it to wash down the taste of salt the was hanging on his lips from that first bite of popcorn. He cleared his throat after tanking a drink, "As far as how these will take place. Think of them as like boxing matches. The tamers and their digimon enter the ring. They will do battle until one of the two tamer's digimon is unable to continue battling. Think of it like battling until a KO. Their shouldn't be any deleted digimon in these types of battles." Haru Toriya Obito Kamigawa

"Ohhhh. I may just vote then for the guys people aren't voting for. You never know after all if they'll be the ones to win!" Haru would exclaim as she was explained a bit further about the whole betting system happening here. It was a bit abstract for her, but it didn't seem too hard in concept to understand. Stil, she did have to admit that she was somewhat mortified by the concept of the tournament actually involving Digimon dying. Even if it were just being reduced back to a Digi-Egg (which is at least recoverable), it's still not something she'd want to condone. Thank god it's just till the loser is knocked out. "Yeah, I'd have a real problem if these were like actual deathmatches. That just doesn't seem right."Tawna on the otherhand, sitting in Haru's lap; seemed to tilt her head in confusion. Why humans were so fearful of concepts like death just provoked confusion in the Rookie level, it being among other things about humanity that seemed alien to her. "I think you humans worry too much over nothing. It's kinda normal for Digimon to delete one another. By absorbing other Digimon, we get stronger quicker and eventually can Digivolve. It's just survival of the fittest."Haru on the otherhand pouted slightly, not pleased by such a response. She knew it was partially cause Tawna had a bit of a hard life before meeting her... but it still didn't give her comfort. "Just cause that's what you guys are used to doing doesn't mean you NEED to do it. I think people and Digimon can be better than that."

Haru Toriya Akio Higashi Obito listened while he watched the crowd and arena below. He saw the fight go off, but he was attentive to his company. He felt relieved, aware now that the fights were not to the death. He let out a sigh and relaxed, his elbows on his knees as he leaned forward. "That's good to know. I have seen too many brutal tamers to want to see death-matches," he explained, "Its good that these fights are more respectable." For the moment, Obito kept his focus on the tamers in the arena. He saw the cards and combos they used-- and found some good inspirational ideas he saw how they interacted with their digimon. Of course, he didn't have as many cards as they had. Still, he was learning from it all. Beside him, Panthermon studied the digimon in the arena-- but didn't really care as the interest of others who had placed bets. he too sought to learn from the fights as well. Even though he was attentive, his lax posture made him seem a good deal at ease. It was then that the words of the other tamer, Haru and her partner in her lap, became of more interest to Obito. She, too, agreed how it was barbaric to fight to the death. Obito smiled at that aspect. She seemed a little out of focus to Obito, but she seemed genuinely nice. Her digimon, however, disagreed and felt death was very natural. Panthermon's ears twitched at the Plotmon's comment. "Well, what do you know? A dog with a brain. Impressive," the cat said in a semi-teasing tone. His jest was clear, as how many cats would judge dogs. "ON that, I agree with you." OBito frowned and looked to his partner. "Well , you might be willing to risk your own demise, but as your tamer, my whole goal is to KEEP YOU from that," Obito said firmly. Panthermon merely shrugged and returned his attention to the fights. Warming up to the new company, Obito leaned over to see Haru better. "HI there, I'm Obito. And my sour-puss friend here, is Panthermon. " he introduced himself to her.

Akio had taken another bite of his popcorn as the other two discussed their new found understanding of how these tournaments worked. Akio had finished chewing the bite he had just taken when the girl announced her plan for betting. "That seems like a great way to just lose your money." Akio mumbled quietly under his breath. No louder than an exhale. Speaking up he chimed into the conversation. "Yes it is probably for the best that their are rules and regulations to these matches. Even though for digimon death is not the end it definitely is a set back for a tamer to have to nurture there partner back from a digi-egg." Dracomon didn't seem to to notice the conversation he was just enjoying his meal. He was just going to town on one piece after another. Seemingly ignoring the entire world around him. "But little buddy death has a different meaning to us humans." Akio chimed into the girls digimon's comment on. "While it might not be a big deal for you it is definitely a more serious issue of us." Obito then introduced himself to the girl who had kind of scolding her digimon. So he guessed this is what they were doing now. Giving introductions to people they just met. He guessed he could give his name. His first one only though. "And I am Akio, and my ravenous little friend over here is Dracomon." Haru Toriya Obito Kamigawa

Tawna while nodded in silent agreement with Panthermon, she still did not agree exactly with the humans' way of looking at things. That way of thinking was a sign of weakness where she came from. "I think you humans just have to grow a spine. If my time comes, I am not going to be sad about it. I'll fight to the bitter end though."Haru sighed slightly, failing to understand this sentiment. No matter how much she looked at it, it was just far too alien of a way of thinking for her to understand. Then again, humans and Digimon... while both similar in ways, they were denizens of completely different worlds it seemed. It only made sense for one to find the other odd. "I wonder if we were Digimon too if we'd think the same way. The Digital World sounds like it was a tough place to live in." She'd idly wonder aloud, earning her a sigh from the small Rookie level, the look on their face becoming a bit more solemn. Clearly, those memories were not happy ones. "You can only imagine."Rather philosophical conversation aside, Haru at least was enjoying the company of her fellow tamers. "I'm Haru, and this is my partner, Tawna. I'm sorry if Tawna is a bit of a downer. She's had a rough life before meeting me."

Haru Toriya Akio Higashi The intros were given easily, and Obito was glad he got to know trust-worthy people associated with the Busters. He felt more at ease now knowing there were good tamers out there he could believe in. "NIce to meet you, Haru, " he replied, Panthermon giving a nod as well to be polite. The concept of Digimon death was something he was not familiar with. "Wait a minute, I thought the whole digi-egg was just fiction from the games? If a Digimon is downloaded for its data, they don't come back-- that I know." THough even Obito was getting fed up by the grim conversation. Still, Haru's positive attitude was welcomed to Obito. "No worries. Panthermon is pretty serious too." he added. When the mention of the Digital world came up, Panthermon opened his eyes. "I know a little about the digital world-- but I can't say I been there," he stated plainly. It would be a bit of a conversation-- especially since Panthermon was, in fact, a very unique Digimon. Even if one were to scan him with basic data-- there would be nothing recorded about him. Why?-- likely cause Obito created him. The process of how of course, remained a mystery even to Obito himself.

The girls digimon was quite the downer, like she said. At the very least it could be said that the digimon had a pessimistic view on the world. A hard life or not it had an interesting outlook on life. The digimon was right he could only imagine what life was like in the digital world as he had never made it there himself either. He wondered what it would be like entering the digital world and leaving the real world. "I mean our personalities are a subject of where we are raised. So if the digital world is a tough a place as Tawna says then if we were raised there we probably would have a similar outlook on life." Obito's remark about the eggs make Akio think. He was pretty sure that all digimon when defeated went back to their digiegg even those who were absorbed. Thats because they weren't completely taken up by the winning digimon. So parts of it would return to the digital world and become an egg. At least thats what he thought, he had no way of knowing for sure. "Well my understanding is that they return to the digital world and become eggs. At least the parts that weren't absorbed by the victors." As he finished discussing the possibilities of digimon defeated by tamers and what would become of them the first round of matches began. It led to a series of 8 matches in the first round. He was excited to see how they turned out he had a bit riding on thee matches he bet more this time than he ever had in the pass. His bets were relatively safe, he bet on all the favorites to win. The first round came and went he was a little disappointed it was not off to the best start. He was already losing on his bets. The next 7 rounds came and went he did pretty well. He won 6 of the 8 bets he placed. Time to start calibrating his next set of bets. He hoped he could keep up that kind of winning level. Obito Kamigawa Haru Toriya

Tawna shrugged slightly at how clueless all the humans (even Haru) were with how Digimon and Digi-Eggs worked. She did try to understand that YES they were not probably as knowledgeable about Digimon as well... a Digimon, but it still baffled her slightly. "Where else do you think Digimon come from? We all had to start somewhere, and generally that's as a Digi-egg. If you get deleted and your data isn't completely absorbed by some Digimon, your data eventually just gathers back into an egg." She'd explain a bit more indepthly. "I'm honestly still shocked that isn't a thing with your world's inhabitants." Haru admittingly was only half paying attention, but she could still say that the more she learned about Digimon, the more weird they seemed. "Yeesh, Digimon biology is like super weird." She'd comment before realizing that more people were flooding into the arena stands. A sign that the main event was starting. "Oooh, the matches are starting!" She'd excitably quip before eagerly sitting back down.
Honestly, seeing so many different tamers with vastly different Digimon partners duking it out one at a time... it was actually very thrilling to watch first-hand. It all felt like a slightly more brutal version of say... a Pokemon tournament in the anime, but mixed with a healthy dose of card games. There was certainly a bit more of a "wow" factor knowing that this was all not mere fantasy. While some of her bets didn't seem to go too smoothly as she had for the most part bet on some of the lesser contestants, but it was cool to see some surprise turn-around victories. Even if one or two of them were on the brutal side. Hell, that creep from the graveyard awhile back turned out to be one of the contestants... and he basically CRUSHED his opponent. Somehow knowing that she had bet on someone who was that malicious... well it left a sour taste in her mouth. "Wow, some of the combatants were pretty vicious... don't ya think? I hope that guy with the Patamon is alright." She'd ask Akio and Obito, having not really had a chance to speak to them or their partners since the matches started. "What about the guy with the Chuumon?" Tawna would additionally add in, earning her a bit of very unsure (and disturbed look) from her tamer. "No, wait... I guess you are right. He looked kinda freaky."

Akio Higashi Haru ToriyaThe topic about Digimon death just made Obito rather quiet and he didn't say any more on the matter. He simply turned back to the arena and watched as the teams fought-- turning into a significant victory for one of them. He didn't really know who was who in there, or how he would bet from that point on. "Well its an interesting battle, but I'm hesitant to bet," Obito said as he watched, and glanced to his new friends. "I hate betting money only to lose it. I rather save it unless I know some figures." Though Obito wasn't a mathematician, he knew how averages and odds worked. So for now, Obito just sat and watched the fights as they unfolded. "The use of the cards is interesting. Some of those combos I used before." he said. He reshifted himself in his seat and looked to the next set to enter the arena. "So, who is coming up next in the fight?" he asked.
