It was that time of the year again. Kasumi stared with a bored look at the recollection of gigantic office buildings some distance away, her eyes lazily focusing on one of the many skyscrapers every now and then. Tenno Industries is how they called it, or Busters Tower, if you were in the digimon business. The place was usually locked for the general public, except when it hosted its yearly tournament, and while Kasumi had heard of it last year, she hadn't cared enough about it to go and actually check out the place. This year, however... something was different about it. "Thank you for complying with my request." Yeah, the redhead still couldn't care less about this whole deal, but Mirrormon had been insistent. Very insistent. The teenager's lips immediately made a shushing sound as she walked forward. "Keep quiet dude. I don't wanna deal with people finding out about you."The digimon was currently hiding in Kasumi's backpack, and as long as the people around her thought her hushed whispers were just because she was crazy, everything was more or less fine. Right, back to the tower itself. In all honesty, Kasumi didn't understand why a rich guy would lose his time with something like these digimon guys, and even less so with hosting a tournament of sorts. Had she been in his place, she'd probably be sunbathing somewhere in the Caribbean or doing something equally fun. Everyone to their own, she guessed. Trudging forward, Kasumi made her way to the skyscraper, thinking every now and then about what she'd find there, and if this small trip would at least make Mirrormon bother her less frequently. With any luck, the teenager would maybe find something to entertain herself as her partner went through with his business. She really hoped she would. Otherwise... the girl would be up for a really long evening. Deck 1. DARK SPIKE 2. DEMI DARTS 3. BOOM BUBBLE 4. LIGHTNING KNIFE 5. WING BLADE 6. ELECTRO SHOCKER 7. GLUE SKIN A 8. A digimon tournament. Who would have thought. He could scarcely think of more a extravagant, useless ways to waste money than that.
Needless to say, he was definitely gonna be there. Though not really known as a tamer, or at least, unwilling to admit he was one, he knew enough tamers to have gotten the general gist of it. One of the Digimon gangs in Tokyo, because that was apparently an actual thing, held a tournament on a sort of yearly basis.
For the purpose of this tournament, these rival gangs apparently were willing to drop their long years of enmity to compete in totally fair 1 on 1 matches for the title of the strongest tamer in Tokyo.
It sounded completely meaningless and mindless. Fun stuff. He couldn't help but draw parallels and comparisons between it and Cock/Dog Fights. He smirked to himself.
'Maybe they fancy themselves pokemon trainers. Their digimon's friendship can surely withstand all the unnecessary beatings for their overlord's glory.' He snickered to himself. He couldn't imagine Kokabuterimon fight if he asked.
Actually scratch that. He couldn't imagine the bug fighting BECAUSE he asked. He would probably do it just to prove he was the best anyways.
Leaning against the wall of an alleyway across from the site of the tournament, he whistled slowly as he began to look up at the massive structure.
The giant skyscraper were the tournament was held, known to the public as Tenno Industries, to tamers as the Busters Tower looked mighty impressive when one stood this close to it. Now, he just had to find a way to enter into the tamer only installations. Maybe just showing his D-arc or a card for a second would do?
Humming to himself after a moment, he decided to throw his hoodie over his head. He was in slightly more respectable clothings today. With any luck, anyone who had seen him before wouldn't recognize him from afar with the hood on his head.
Nodding to himself, the young man slipped out of the alleyway, making brisk pace towards the tower.
And bumping right into an unsuspecting gal in the process, his hoodie doing a perfect job at blocking his peripheral vision.

Damn, another rejection letter. Xavi had received the e-mail for what he had been hoping would be the dream job, at least for someone in his position, but it turned out it wasn't to be. "Sorry to hear, pal" his Gazimon partner Jorge had said in consolation, patting his arm gently with his large claws. After scratching Jorge behind the ears like he knew he enjoyed, Xavi then felt the need to just get out of this house. He knew that moping in his tiny apartment would do him no good. "Let's head to the park, Jorge" he offered his partner, who nodded eagerly. And so he dressed in a red t-shirt and black jacket, putting on a pair of brown cargo pants and sneakers. Jorge meanwhile just put on his sunglasses, his grey and white fur was enough for him. There was little else for it but to use the good old backpack. Thankfully the one Xavi had used for high school had been sturdy enough to carry around five textbooks, so, it was big enough to hold a Gazimon comfortably. However, the little grey and white digimon liked to poke his head up from time to time, if only to see what was going on in his surroundings, and also to get a breath of fresh air from the scent of books. On the whole, Jorge mostly enjoyed this little ride, mostly safe from the eyes of all the humans. While he hadn't known it at the time, he was very lucky to not bump into something more malicious when he first arrived on Earth. He could have been seen as a wild digimon and attacked by another tamer, or worse. But thankfully it had been his now best friend Xavi that he had first met. A sign of fate? Eh, some digimon were just born lucky he supposed. The way from Xavi's apartment to the park would take them past the large Buster Tower, whatever that was. Jorge couldn't quite put his claw on it, but, there was something off about that place. The fur on the back of his neck would rise slightly. Was it something good? Or something bad? Probably bad, he wasn't really in a mood to find out. He just wanted to relax in the park with his partner and try and get him to laugh. About halfway there, Xavi's attention was suddenly drawn to a hooded young man bumping into a girl. "Youch, that's gotta hurt" Jorge commented, the Gazimon poking his head out of the backpack to take a look. Xavi was a little shocked as one was, but, if one of them was seriously hurt, he'd cross the street and see if they were alright. Xavi's Deck:

Maybe she was going to ask more than what she had bargained for. A body crashed against her with a soundly thud, taking her entirely by surprise. The sudden force made Kasumi lose her balance and almost fall directly on her face, all while Mirrormon suddenly yelped from the forceful push. "Motherfucker!" The redhead hissed angrily as she regained her footing. and looked at... whoever crashed into her. "Look where you're fucking going, dude!" Her temper undoubtedly flared, but that was more or less to be expected. At least initially, just before her better judgment reined her. This supposedly was a place for tamers to converge, and some of them could belong to those shitty gangs or something. What if this guy wanted to steal from her or something? She knew about some freaks who dressed in black that fancied doing that kind of stuff. And if that was the case, that guy would regret it dearly. First thing Kasumi did was to check her stuff; kay, nothing missing at least. Then gave a better look to the guy who bumped into her. Well, he wasn't wearing the edgy black clothes those guys usually wore, but that probably could mean nothing. Her gaze went back to the guy, staring directly at him for a couple of seconds. Eventually, her temper cooled and she shrugged, resuming her small march towards the skyscraper. Getting so worked out about this probably wasn't worth it. Toshiro Emiya Xavi Navarro

Crashed was a bit of a strong word. Bumped seemed more appropriate. A surprised yelp seemed to be released from the girl as she lost her balance and nearly fell onto her face, Toshiro simply stumbling slightly before otherwise righting himself.
The rather coarse expletive prompted a tilted brow from the young man, the word not having been expected at all. That said, the young man wasn't really looking at her, nor showing particular remorse for so rudely and carelessly running into her, oh no.
He was looking at another young man across the street, a backpack slung over his shoulder. A backpack from which a furry, sunglass wearing thing had popped its head out earlier.
The blonde man smiled eerily at the backpack dude, wondering if he could creep out the obvious tamer. To the other man, a hooded guy had just grinned creepily at him.
"Was there really any reason to curse so coarsely, I wonder." Said the young man as he continued his walk towards the buster Tower. He had intended it as a rhetoric question to an overly angry girl he would likely never see again, but apparently they were moving in the same direction.
Well shit.

Xavi was somewhat surprised by the girl's highly hostile response. It was an honest accident from where he was standing, but, he supposed the girl must be having a bad day? Jorge cringed a little as well.
"Yeesh, her swear jar must be pretty full" the Gazimon said, glancing at Xavi from the backpack.
"I doubt she has a swear jar, Jorge" Xavi answered, matter-of-factly. The girl then continued on her way. Xavi then noticed that, like him, she seemed to be wearing a backpack. Hm, that was curious. But he had no way of knowing what was inside, and frankly it wasn't his business.
The other guy meanwhile flashed an eerie kind of smile at him. Xavi looked somewhat surprised about that, then realized that Jorge's head had been poking out of the bag. Had he been seen? Something about that look made Xavi think that he was.
"Jorge, be more careful sticking your head out during the day, alright?" he asked, as Jorge ducked back into the bag.
"Yeesh, alright, Lillie, I'll stay in the bag like a good Nebby" Jorge drawled sarcastically. Xavi sighed, he could tell that Jorge was playing his 3DS in there.
It seemed that they were walking in a similar direction as well. Xavi had to go past the Buster Tower to reach the park. But... maybe he could check out where it was these two curious people were going? Of course, he didn't want to be accused of stalking, so he wouldn't be that keen on following them.

Seemingly, the barrage of expletives wasn't enough to make the guy disappear from her sight; not only was he seemed to be going to the same place as Kasumi, but actually managed to answer with some pretty sharp rhetoric. Well, maybe that's what he thought. The teenager still had plenty left, and people trying to provoke her into further anger wasn't an uncommon occurrence. She turned briefly, facing him momentarily before walking again. "Simple question comin', blondie." For a split second, an amused smirk coursed through the redhead's face, disappearing as fast as it had appeared. "Let's say you're minding your own business and suddenly a pretty tall duder stumbles onto you without a care in the world. When you turn to face him, you notice that the guy seems to think that blinders are stuff intended for humans instead of horse tack; pretty annoying, wouldn't you say?"Blondie seemed to be a sharp cookie, so maybe he'd catch her drift, but the bottom line was a pretty direct insult. This was probably the beginning of a tug-o-war of sorts, and would probably become physical soon, at least until Mirrormon prodded Kasumi from her backpack. Given his insistence, it meant that... he thought a digimon was nearby. Well, that was hardly surprising considering he also seemed that this person was also going to that skyscraper. "So... are you just stalking me, or are you goin' to check the tourny out?" Kasumi figured it'd be better to just ask; if anything, if one of those Nightmare guys appeared, maybe they'd just focus him given he was the tall one. Xavi Navarro Toshiro Emiya

"Simple questions from simple minds. Shoot, Red." His mouth had supplied the answer before his filter could do anything about it.
Oh boy, he had just stumbled upon a fountain of joy, hadn't he. His luck was as good today as ever. To be completely fair to the temperamental girl, he had stumbled onto her, and he did have most of his sight covered by his hoodie.
That being said, he doubted the girl would have let up even if she had been the one to run into him. And it seemed like a fun way to pass the time, so...
"I see your point, Red. So, allow me to apologize." He didn't even look at her as he spoke, seemingly content with yawning and occasionally looking ove rhis shoulder.. "Sorry I ran into you. You were so short you didn't register in my line of sight."
Was he pushing it too hard? Who cared, really? Honestly, she just gave him fountains of material to work with.
"Cute as you may be Red, I'm afraid I don't stalk girls I've just met. You must pass a number of very rigorous secret tests of character before I even consider adding you to my stalk list." His mouth was running way faster than his filter could keep up today.
"But yes, I am going to the tournament. Like that guy following us." He said, gesturing with his thumb over his shoulder to the tanned man with the backpack.

Xavi felt a little nervous as he continued onward. If he knew another way to the Park, he would have taken that instead, since he didn't really like the sight of hostility. However, he couldn't help but overhear the conversations that were said. And even within the confines of the backpack, Jorge could easily hear the words spoken with his sensitive ears.
The girl mentioned something of a "tourney". This immediately made Xavi and Jorge curious. A tourney? What kind? A video game one? A card game? Or... something that involved digimon perhaps? Jorge seemed curious about that, given that every time he passed the Buster Tower, he could often sense some of his own kind in the vicinity.
What the boy said in response made Xavi gasp and Jorge snicker from the sheer audacity of it. And he made a snide remark of her height too? "Wow, this guy sure is somethin'" he remarked. Xavi felt inclined to agree.
Xavi wasn't sure what to make of this guy, then he suddenly realized that the boy in the hoodie seemed to be suddenly talking about him. The Japanese-Filipino young man took a step back as he realized he was now the subject of conversation.
"Tournament?" he repeated, then realized that he now seemed to be a part of this conversation now. Although maybe that might not be something of a bad thing? If he had invitation to talk, maybe he could prevent something of a fight breaking out? He looked down at the two.
"Sorry to intrude, but, if I heard clearly, you're implying that I'd be participating in a tournament?" he asked the boy in the hoodie. "Er, what tournament would this be? If I'm okay in asking?"
Jorge meanwhile remained silent, realizing he could make things worse by interrupting.

Kasumi's next reaction to Blondie's quick reprisal was to snort right away. She could appreciate skill when she saw it, even if that attempt was a little too basic to rile her up. "So, what's next, Yellow? Some lame-ass 'your mom' joke? The reply proper was better at bothering her, and that was easily shown. While she couldn't care less about height, the fact this guy used that to pretty much tell her she was insignificant in comparison to him did a pretty good job at changing her expression to something... tad more angry. It was funny; she was about to unleash a pretty heavy barrage of expletives, but, before she could do it, his next statement managed to calm her down considerably. It even made her snicker some. "That was a good one, Yellow, I'll give you that. Hopefully, I'll manage to evade your stalk list for a long while then."His words made double duty both as confirming to her the guy's status as a tamer and for her to notice the guy who was following them on the sidelines. Giving him a quick glance, she concluded that he didn't look to be one of those Nightmare guys too, so everything was... okayish for now, she guessed? Well, besides... "Damn, two stalkers on the same day? Is this a group outing or something? Because it's starting to be a bit bothersome..."Least to say, this was probably a way better outcome than people with actual bad intentions. Shrugging, she gazed at the new guy, butting into the conversation without a care in the world. "Participating? Nah; if I'm recallin' things correctly, the thing has already started by now." Probably like... half an hour ago or so, to boot. "Do you know about the Busters Tower? The whole thing is taking place there. And a little guy over here wants to check it out, so I'm going there."It was a gut feeling, but if Blondie had called out on him so blatantly, this guy could also be a tamer. Or maybe he was trying to mess with her and make her screw up. In any case, she wasn't going to be super obvious about the whole thing. Toshiro Emiya Xavi Navarro

"That would be in poor taste, Red. I don't take easy targets." He replied, still glancing over his shoulder every so often. "Don't worry, Red. You've doing great at failing the tests so far." He could see a wonderful friendship brewing between them right then and there.
If the girl didn't suplex him into a trash can before he could fully charm her with his snark, that is.
"We've been through this, Red. You haven't passed enough tests." He said, fake huffing. "Honestly, it's like you think me some random skirt chaser." He slowly turned around to face Xavi, walking backwards besides the red head as he replied to the young, tall man.
"Participate? Nah." He made a show of looking him up and down. "You don't look like the kind, no offense." He didn't have many positive things to say about people who were likely not even bothering to ask their wannabe pokemon to fight in these glorified cockfights. "Just thought you might be going to the tournament, since... well. You know." He made a gesture towards his back with his neck.
Red apparently had little interest in the tournament, but was going anyways for her little partner.
"Well ain't that awfully nice of ya, Red. That's so kind, you may have even passed one of the tests after all." He said, snickering in a jester fashion. "As for myself. I'm just here to see if these glorified cockfights can shed some light on tamer and digimon relationships."
For whatever reason, digimon seemed to just let the humans decide what to do. He didn't exactly do anything Kokabuterimon wanted, but the same went for the domineering and independent bug digimon. Based on his own experience with the beetle, he couldn't see why so many digimon were so willing to be subservient to their tamers.

As much of a mature and adult conversation this was, Xavi really did kinda feel bad overhearing. Jorge meanwhile was covering his mouth with his paw, trying not to giggle.
Then the girl seemed to turn her attention to him, accusing him of also being a stalker. Xavi was somewhat affronted. "Er... sorry? I'm not really a stalker" he said. "In fact if I knew another convenient way to the park I would've taken it, I'm just a bystander".
Jorge was fighting back the urge to say something like "Oh please, don't flatter yourself, why would anyone wanna stalk you?" but thought better of it, he didn't want Xavi to get into trouble. And besides, from what he knew about humans, he was sure some were sick enough to have reasons to do so.
Xavi meanwhile was a little curious at the things she was talking about. "The Busters Tower? Is there a tournament being hosted there?" he asked. Then the blond guy said that he didn't really look like the type that would participate in such a tournament.
"None taken" he said, still confused as to what exactly this "tournament" was. Then he took the hint that his cover was probably blown by now. Jorge heard the awkward pause and supposed there wasn't a reason he should be hiding in the pack anymore. And so he opened the flap, poked his head out, and peeked over Xavi's large shoulder. Xavi was a little embarrassed that he was butting in to this conversation, but supposed there was little harm in it for now, Jorge was usually amiable.
"So hiya!" he said, his claw sliding his sunglasses down a little. "What's this tournament thing? A digimon thing right? Heh, nah, I ain't really the fighting type, more a stylin' type, heheh. But... I suppose we wouldn't mind goin' to watch"
Xavi thought that they were meant to be going to the park, but, he was curious enough about this tournament to decide he wouldn't mind going along, just to watch. After all, Jorge wanted to get stronger, maybe seeing other strong digimon might give them ideas on how to grow as human and digimon. Although... he hoped it wasn't so much of an oppressive atmosphere that walking in uninvited would cause problems for Jorge or himself.

As obnoxious as Blondie was, Kasumi began to not mind his company. That didn't mean she actually liked him or anything of sorts, but let's say she had begun to bear his presence, at least in comparison to when he crashed against her. At least right now she wasn't considering the notion of punching his teeth in. That didn't mean she was done with him, though. "Yanno, with that haircut, thinking you're some sort of wannabe playboy isn't all that far from possibility." Like, backwards spiky hairstyle and dyed blonde? It surely took some guts to sport that here in Japan. Now, getting onto the newcomer, he probably was one of those really uptight people, but he didn't look like a bad person either. "Whatever, mate. So long as you don't end up crashing against me like Yellow over here, I'll take your word. Don't try anything funny though."She would be somewhat glad if the dude actually went through the motions of explaining the newer guy about what was going on in the Tower, but since he had opted to banter with her instead... "Ewww. You could've just shoved those tests up your ass and explained to bigger guy what's up instead." Currently, she wasn't making the happiest of faces, but still went on with the explanation. Deciding to address the digimon's appearance later, she resumed her explanation. "See. Every year, this very important guy hosts a tournament with fabulous prizes n' all that shit. So, a good amount of weirdos from the three gangs converge and go to watch those mons gougin' each other's eyes out while bettin' who's gonna win. Easy and simple."Now that wasn't an issue anymore, she looked at the Gazimon with a nonchalant expression before adding. "Just so you know. I'd hide until we're in the building. I don't know about Blondie over here, but if somebody gets near and begins to ask them awkward questions, I'm scrammin'."Getting in troubles with like, the police or something for this guy wasn't worth it. Heck, going to this tower just to make Mirrormon happy seemed to be worth it less and less as time went on. Xavi Navarro Toshiro Emiya

"Stop looking under my hood, Red. A guy may think you are interested or something." He told the redhead, taking the jab at his supposed skirt chasing tendencies in stride.
He frankly would have preferred if Red hadn't been so itching to find something to insult about him; he didn't want her, or anyone in the tournament for that matter, to possibly recognize him in the future after all.
Maybe he should have taken a card out of the Web Troopers' deck and worn full cammo. That costed money and a trip to the stores though. No dice.
"Don't pay attention to her, she wasn't looking at where she was going either. We walked into each other."
The blonde sighed dramatically, shrugging his shoulders at the big guy.
"Someone needs a swear jar, huh? Don't worry, Red. Failing all these tests doesn't undo the single one you've succeeded."
Red's explanation of the tournament was as Layman and coarse as it could get, but it explained the gist of it nicely enough. He took it upon himself to talk about the digimon's... less than subtle intrusion instead.
"Back into the back pack, glasses. This is a public street." He commented, gesturing all around them. Somehow, no one had noticed yet. But he would rather not put the attention span of the average japanese bystander to the test.
Either way, the blonde didn't really pause to tell the taller man this, continuing on his merry way towards the tower. They were nearly there and he was frankly starting to get hungry. He was hoping the food at the tournament would be good.

"Of course I won't" Xavi answered the red haired girl. He might be a rather tall individual, but he wasn't in any mood to start doing terrible things like this.
"Wait, funny as in 'ha-ha' funny or funny as in "bad-touch" funny that ain't actually really funny?" Jorge asked. Xavi chose not to dignify that with a response. The Gazimon snickered at the banter. Man, these two were a riot!
Xavi meanwhile listened to the explanation of what this "tournament" was about and shuddered. "Right, so, it's a tournament with digimon?" he asked. "Like... real digimon? Wow, I didn't know they were in Japan for this long". Jorge had just stepped into his life around a month ago.
Jorge then felt a bit irritated that he was told to get back in the bag again. "Fine, peewww peeeww" he grumbled, settling back down. Man, he really preferred hanging out with Xavi at night when he could simply pass as a weird dog in the darkness. But broad daylight did make things risky.
"Sorry about that, Jorge kinda likes socializing" Xavi said to the other two. Well then, they were in a conversation now, so he thought he might be polite and start introducing names. "Thanks for taking the time to tell me what's going on at the tower by the way. I'm Xavi Navarro and that's Jorge you saw just now. And, as you probably guessed, we're kinda new to this whole 'tamers' business".
He hoped that a bit of courtesy might take some of the testiness out of the conversation.
