Sunny days were small blessings on their own. Especially on autumn. It had become a bit of a routine for Kasumi. Pick a ward, then run through it until she felt like she had enough. Running on a beach was a challenge on its own, so this time she hadn't brought any weights and yet... she felt like this had been harder than any of this place she had picked before. That made her smile. A good challenge was something she always appreciated. The best part about it was that Mirroron was napping at the moment and that he didn't seem to mind their shaky journey from his small hideout inside her duffel bag. Maybe he had gotten a little too tired after that playdate with Jorge and KoKabuterimon? That was possibility. With any luck, he wouldn't wake up until her little trip was over and she decided to go for something to eat and she'd finally have a day without him being his usual, annoying self. That'd be lovely. Dull eyes looked down at the water lapping near his feet, just barely in reach of him. Then again, Hisan'na wouldn't be surprised if even the ocean wanted nothing to do with him. The boy sat alone on the beach, simply looking out at the waves before him.
Masuta had had things to do, and thus had left Hisan'na all alone. The boy really had nowhere to be. School was out, and really everywhere was the same. He was just lonely, sitting and watching his miserable excuse for a life go on past. He hoped that Masuta would be done soon and need him again. Acting as Masuta's tamer was really the only source of purpose that the boy had in his life. Sure, Masuta treated him like a slave, but at least he was acknowledged, instead of disregarded by everyone around him.

However, this wouldn't be a day without its surprises, wouldn't it? As Kasumi's steps began to reach the end of her small trip, a figure entered her sight. Someone she had seen before, and that while not bad news by himself meant... bad news by association. Maybe his Vemmon was lurking somewhere, but if Kasumi had to make a wild guess, he was probably too dumb to wait and strike. Eh, might as well say hi. Even if pink hair wasn't something she fancied, guy at least seemed to be... kinda nice? Well, somewhat. She'd just make it quick. "Yo, dude." Her greeting was a bit casual, even despite the danger interacting with him could represent. "How have you been? Hope you've been doing better than jus' being that purple asshole's doormat."Well, maybe not as casual, but in all honesty, the redhead felt like getting back at Masuta sooner or later. She wasn't the type to hold grudges, but trying to kill Mirrormon was on the unforgivable end. Hisan'na Meshitsukai

Hisan'na hadn't expected anyone to actually address him. So when the voice spoke out to him, he jumped a little, more from the surprise than anything. Slowly, he turned to see who was talking to him. He paled and his eyes almost bugged out when he saw who was talking to him. It was that girl from the Busters Tower. The one with the Mirrormon. What was she doing here?
The boy let out a yelp, trying to scramble back away from her, which resulted in a rather awkward crab walk, followed by him falling back into the sand. "D-Don't hurt me! I-I don't have any money or cards or anything!" Why did Masuta have to leave him alone now? When this woman was clearly here for revenge. The boy curled up into a tight ball, more to try and give her less to attack.

The redhead couldn't but cringe slightly at the reaction she got. Dude looked almost like a deer caught in the headlights. "I'll take that as a no, then." A small shrug soon followed. "Dun worry, if I wanted to hurt you, I'd have punched your teeth in already. So stop actin' like a spineless coward and jus' stand up."Whether he did that or not, she figured that he probably was too scared to do anything meaningful. And she actually had to wonder how the dude had found the courage to get inside the Busters' Tower if he was afraid of a lone person. Oh well. "By the way, my beef's not with you, just with that purple fucker."Of course, she hadn't mentioned that if he did so much as to try and help him in any way, that grudge would probably spread to him as well. But that was probably obvious enough. "Anyhow, guess I'm botherin'. Catch ya later, I guess." In the end, she couldn't but feel some amount of pity for the dude. Being him must suck, even though tn her, he could do plenty to improve on that. Hisan'na Meshitsukai

Hisan'na had waited for the attacks to come, but none did. Just words. When she ordered him to get up, he climbed to his feet, almost mechanically, like he was just obeying out of habit. Man, this scrawny kid was just to be bossed around, wasn't he?
The boy stood there, awkward as she stated that her beef was really with his partner. "Y-Yes...Of course..." Really, the boy wasn't worth holding against. Then again he really wasn't worth anything. Just to swipe cards whenever Masuta needed them. That was all. "Y-You're not really bothering anything. I-I mean, I wasn't doing anything for you to bother. I mean, erm..." The poor kid was tripping over his own words. A socialite this kid was not.

A long sigh came out of Kasumi's lips. This guy was a lost cause, wasn't he? Despite the apparent fear he felt for her, he obeyed an order without even questioning it. That was... unsettling in a way, but in the end did a bit to confirm one thing. Dude had no self-esteem whatsoever. "Man, you should totes get some self-confidence. You'll be a doormat all your life if you keep on like that, yanno?"The worst thing was that if purple dude appeared, it would be bad news for her no matter what. Guy had gotten a horrid luck at the partner lottery. Still, she just couldn't stand in this place waiting for that to happen, and that's when the idea struck. "Say, can you jog? Stayin' there starin' at the sea must get borin'. Lessgo." She'd make a quick gesture and go for what she felt like a turtle's pace at first, just to measure how fit dude was. If appearances didn't deceive... they would probably go super slowly, but that was better than nothing. Hisan'na Meshitsukai

Hisan'na looked down at the floorvas she told him to get some more confidence, calling him a doormate. "B-Better a doormat than ignored..." he murmured, loud enough for her to hear. After all, as long as he was proving some use to someone, that was ok, right?
Then came the order he didn't expect. She wanted him to...jog with her? He wasn't the most athletic of individuals. Hell, he had been frail his whole life. Why would she want to jog with him? Probably to make herself look good by comparison. Yeah, that was it. Still, the boy couldn't say no, and was soon trying to keep up with the girl. And it was obvious he was putting more effort into this little jog than she was.

For less than a second, the redhead's gaze seethed. Even if it had been murmured really quietly, she had heard dude's words, and she couldn't disagree more with them. "Yanno, for a guy that looks tad smart, you surely like spoutin' fuckin' nonsense. Think 'bout it for a second; if you don't respect yourself, who's gonna be? Nothin' good's gonna happen to you if keep on thinkin' that way."Those sloppy steps and the uneven pace made a pretty good work to confirm Kasumi's suspicions about this guy being a little on the wimpy side, but still, one question kept on gnawing on her head. Just... "Sometimes I wonder what happened for you to have that self-esteem, mate. Totes one of a kind."It was hard to be full-blown friendly, and even if she wasn't being so, Kasumi was genuinely trying to at least shed some light on the matter. Equal parts because she hated purple guy's guts, and equal parts because this dude seemed to be a decent human being despite his relationship with him. Hisan'na Meshitsukai

Hisan'na looked at the girl as she talked to him about respect. The girl didn't understand. You couldn't simply respect oneself and suddenly people gave a damn about you. That was delusional. You are what you are. If you had potential, you were of importance. But if you had none...
Then came the question he had never been asked before. Why was he like this? The boy stopped. It was a bit of a surprise really. Most people just didn't give a damn . The boy's face fell as he thought of a way to respond to the girl's question. "Tell me something..." he said slowly, "Do you know what it's like, knowing you're garbage since the day that you born? That your very existence is an inconvenience, at BEST? That the world would be better off if you simple ceased to be? That's my entire life summed up..." His voice sounded...empty, as he said those words. No sadness, no bitterness. Just...acceptance. Which was probably the most frightening thing of all.

Empathy. Kasumi hadn't expected to have and end up showing empathy when she first stumbled upon this guy. At most, she had expected to have to fight Masuta for a while, maybe settle her grudge and move on. Or run away to lick her wounds, whatever. But now, she was talking about a topic that seemed to be... quite deep for something to do just a morning jog. And in the end, she couldn't but stare at him, determination shining in her eyes. "Probably not. Probably I never will, but." It wasn't easy to talk about this, and in a sense, she had felt slightly unnerved about how openly he talked about a serious topic like this one. "I've dealt with people who preferred for me to not to exist. That considered me a mistake. Their mistake. I know those are low blows, dude, and that it's hard to have a self-esteem after those, but jus' givin' up after them ain't gonna solve nothing. You gotta realize other human beings —or any other beings, for that matter— ain't entitled to tell others how much they're worth."A long sigh would escape her lips right afterward. "I don't believe in destiny or that bullshit, but I think everyone has a purpose or is good at somethin'. Thinkin' you're useless just cos others told you so and you believed them won't end in anythin' good. If anythin', I guess that despite the seemingly shitty hand life has dealt you, you've kept persevering. Maybe not for an exactly good reason, but a lot of people would've already given up in your situation." Wait, that didn't sound all too well. "What I'm tryin' to tell you is that you shouldn't underestimate yourself, or what you're capable of doing." Hisan'na Meshitsukai

Kasumi's words would have been motivating to others, able to lift them out of their funk, if only because of the intent behind them. But Hisan'na was not the others. The boy simply stared at her blankly as she talked. When she finished, there was a small, sad smile on his face. "Your words are kind, but untrue..." The boy looked away as he spoke, "Who has better authority to determine a child's worth than their own parents?"
He slowly sat down, idly tracing a finger in the sand. "I know exactly what I am. A blotch on the Meshitsukai's record. An unworthy accident of a son. Sure, they house me and feed me, but it's more out of social obligation. Imagine the scandal if they simply discarded me." He slowly looked upwards. "I wonder...what would happen if I simply stepped out in front of traffic, or a train. Or maybe simply walk out into the ocean and drown. At least then my family can get some sympathy out of loosing a son. Finally be able to contribute to the family, rather than be a hindrance..."
Hisan'na was looking back out at the ocean now. His eyes seemed as empty as the tone in his voice.

In a normal situation, the redhead would've exploded at the mention of a mere trace of the argument "parents are always right". But in this situation, she just felt... sad. Man, this guy just looked to be utterly broken and maybe beyond to any chance of recovery. For that very reason, she couldn't bring herself to give up. Mostly because she saw what they had in common, and couldn't but see what could have been her own person reflected. "Yanno, for someone with no self-esteem whatsoever, you sure are bent on believin' you're useless. I may be wastin' my time here, but, let me propose somethin'."She sighed heavily, and somewhat awkwardly before resuming. Who'd say that talking was actually more tiring than running. "I've been lookin' for a runnin' partner for some time now, and I'd be really... grateful if you accepted, so... what do you say? One condition, though. You gotta keep purple fucker outta both Mirrormon's and my hide. Bloody murder ain't a good way to end a mornin."Not the most smooth proposal, but hey, at least she had done it. Both could benefit from it, and heck, Kasumi could use a couple more friends, for all what she knew. Hisan'na Meshitsukai

Hisan'na slowly turned his head to listen to her as she spoke. When she gave her proposal, the boy's eyes widened. She needed a running partner and was asking if he could be it? The thought of someone needing him caused his heart to freeze in his chest. "You...you need...?" The boy turned his head away quickly as he felt a slight sting of tears in his eyes. He rather ungraciously climbed to his feet, trying (rather badly) to regain his composure.
"I-I'll do my best for you," he said, a grateful smile on his face. It was almost cute seeing that expression on his face. But then again, this was one of those moment where he actually felt some semblance of joy. He almost didn't know how to handle it.

Well, that had been way better than what she had expected, frankly. Funny how dude had given such a dramatic spin on his mood. Slowly, a small smile began to creep onto her face. "Thas more like it. To be honest I'm glad you accepted."They had run for a good while already, so she decided to stop for now. Well, there was stuff that they had to take care about now. "Okay. It'll be like, two times a week. What days are okay for you? Evening's best for me." And that's kinda when she realized that... she didn't know his name. Weird. "Also, your phone n' your name, if that's okay. Callin' your runnin' partner just dude's gotta get old fast. Mine's Kasumi, by the way."Who'd say that this meeting would end like this? Kasumi hadn't expected the outcome like, at all. Hisan'na Meshitsukai
