Hideo hates making others worry, so he's prone to downplaying, or even lying about, bad things that happens to him, either by his own actions or someone else's. Everyone does something for a reason, every cut or bruise will heal, and getting lost is just a chance at discovering something new. That's not to say he doesn't get hurt, feel embarrassed, or get angry; he just doesn't want to make others feel bad or be worried about him. Even if deep down, he wants to express how he really feels.[break][break]
However, even he has his limits. Acts that can cause permanent damage can get his objections, and he will intervene if things start to get too extreme - but only after he sees no other way to stop things from getting worse.

Simply put, Hideo is an optimistic extrovert. He always looks at the bright side of things, and always ready to spend time with someone, even if it's a person he only just met. He's always looking into how to make others happy, whether it be playing games with them, sharing stories, or just chatting with them - and he's very good at honing in on what others like. He was born blind.[break][break]
Thankfully, it wasn't very difficult accommodating for a blind child in Tokyo; there were plenty of specialized schools willing to accept him, and the city itself was highly accessible for the blind. Even with his handicap, he did better in school than most kids his age. However, that didn't stop his parents from nearly smothering him with care as if he was a helpless baby. It earned the ire of the rest of his siblings, now (relatively) deprived of their parents' attention, but they would rarely act on it - and they would rarely do anything that wasn't petty.[break][break]
One day, one of his brothers gave him a rather strange toy and a pack of cards that it was supposed to be able to scan. A rather silly gift, since he wouldn't be able to tell what any of the cards could do, but he happily accepted it. With his brother's urging, he scanned a special card that wasn't in the pack, and it produced a bright light and a strange noise. When both went away, a strange creature was left - who introduced itself as a Digimon and proclaimed herself as his partner.[break][break]
And as he quickly learned, all of his siblings also had digimon partners. And neither of their parents knew about them.
