Loud. Too Loud. Obito's eyes cringed to keep the noise out of his head. He had not truly adjusted to Tokyo as fast as he hoped and even now, in an area where he could feel comfortable-- he was miserable. Though Miserable was an over exaggeration, it was impossible to think while there were so many people moving around. He sat on a bench and rested his head in his hands, watching the feet scurry around. He had came from his new Apartment in Shibuya/(Maybe) Inokashira-- a high rise his parents had moved into and him with it. He had liked Kyoto before, and moving into the big city seemed like a nice change, but the lack of green and wildlife seemed to put Obito in a fowl mood. Even the air tasted metallic almost, he thought he might of bled in his mouth.
Had his new home not been overlooking a grand view of the park that was nearby, he would of ran back to Kyoto... but the memory of what waited for him back there unnerved him. He lost the right to return after he lashed out at the bullies he dealt with. He had burned bridges there and couldn't live there-- but it was still his home town and he had fond memories there. He would still visit his grandfather there as well.
But for now, he had to adjust to his new way of life. School would start in a few weeks, and he had to prepare for making a good impression at the academy he would attend. It was his first time out on his own, and went to Akihabara so he could explore the electronics. Though with the announcement of a big sale on kitchen goods, people almost trampled over him to get there.
"Ugh... YOu need zip lines to get through this place," he said as he sat back and tried to look through the skylight that was over the mall he was in.
Slowly, he reached into his pocket and looked at his wallet. Inside he found his return ticket on the subway back home, along with a few thousand yen. Slowly, he sought for something to do with what money he had left-- and soon came by one of the card kiosks that lined the walls of stores. He smiled, figuring he would get some more cards for his collection.

He checked his smartphone-- a picture of his artist rendered creature he created. ON the screen was a black panther with two gauntlets, black fire upon its fur and a golden ring on its rear leg. It was the picture Obito had drawn, after much time and energy concocting it from his creativity. He had one before, but it was lost back in middle school after an 'incident' he rather not dwells on. Looking back, he felt this one was better and he treasured it so much it became a screen saver. TO him it was like a totem to keep his spirits up.
HIs attention was on the clock that flashed in front of the picture, reading 4: 37 PM. He had a bit of time before he was going to take the next train. His attention returned to the card kiosk and he walked over to it. He saw a few kids walk away after having gotten some Digimon cards of his own. Though Obito had played when he lived in Kyoto, he never had many opportunities to play with other people cause no one around was into Digimon Colleseum. He even had a card-scanner app on his phone, used for a mini app game that wasn't really super popular but entertaining while on the train. As he approached the machine, he put in the yen he needed and picked one of the Digimon card packs. Three separate packs soon spat out in sequence from the slot, and Obito picked them up.
He then slowly strolled down the pathway back towards the subway entrance as he opened up the packs as he went. He eyes widened at some of the unusual cards he saw. Holy ring, a few boosters, some good Digimon inside.
He pushed past the doulbe doors that led outside, the subway entrance across the street. However, one of the passing by cabs came a bit too close to the curb-- and the last card Obito was about to look at was torn from his hand by the gust of the vehical. "Gah! Hey!" Obito shouted, and quickly looked up. The card whipped through the air above the crowd's head. He followed it and saw as it fluttered away into a nearby ally behind the mall. "Geez... I hate the city..." he groaned and walked after the card.
He turned into the ally, cautious as he heard plenty of tales of people mugged there. still, he just walked in a small distance and soon found it. Tucked near a garbage bag was the card and he picked it up from the grimy concrete...
... but what he saw baffled him. The card didn't look like a traditional Digimon card. It was a solid blue color. He looked at it oddly, which seemed almost prismatic as he tilted it. The faint bit of light that shown down in the alleyway seemed to cause the card to change-- revealing a D symbol with a pixilated creature coming out of it. "Huh... what is this? Some kind of rare card? This is the same one, right?" he asked himself.
His mind soon snapped as he heard the sound of the train clicking in the graters nearby. With time short to catch the train he needed, he pocketed the card and quickly headed out for the station.

He had boarded the train in time-- it pulling in just as he climbed down the stairs into the platform. Now he sat in a deserted corner of the train car, watching the window as it flashed from the subway tunnel to an open view of the city. He focused on the patches of green he saw for the parks that were around Tokyo, calmed by that. Even though it was a city, he could see life among the parks.
He had a good half-hour before it arrived at his stop. He stretched his arms and glanced at the half-dozen other people in the car. Most of them just minded their own business and were quiet in the car as the clank of the tracks echoed in the car. With nothing better to do, he took out the cards he got. He only had a few cards that were usable, but every card could be of use. He would keep them all-- often finding even the most common of cards valuable when combined with the right one. He once found a combo that could clear an entire enemy's board in the card game.
His attention then came to the blue card he found-- the oddity of the pack. He checked it, front and back multiple times. There wasn't even a model number like the rest of them had in the corner. Could of it been a factory error? He couldn't tell. With his other hand, he toggled open his phone and opened the card scanner app. As he hit upload, to store the card's information and even help him build combos and decks.
However, as he held up the card, the phone took the picture instantly similar to a barcode read. At first the card image appeared, then the app suddenly stopped.
Obito's brow furrowed from behind his glasses as he tapped the screen, the image frozen. Then it suddenly grew static along his phone. "Huh?" He tapped it a few more times but got no response. He then hit the home key to minimize the app-- but didn't work. "What the...? Don't tell me I loaded some malware card or something..." he grumbled and tried to reset it. HOwever, the app still bugged and flickered, images between the home page and the odd card's symbol continued to roll out.
The train car soon went into a nearby tunnel and the lights flickered. It continued for a few seconds, then blinked out completely. The only light Obito had was the phone-- which flickered in time with the car's light-- then it suddenly changed. The entire car was now in a strange, dark-violet shade of lightning in the car as it clicked along. He had been absorbed by trying to fix his phone-- that he didn't notice the car had gone unusually more quiet. No rouses of concern by the passengers or anything regarding the lights.
It was then that Obito noticed it... The car was suddenly empty.
He lowered his phone and rose to his feet. The train car still moved through the tunnel, moving and swaying with its turns-- but not a soul was left on the car he was. He looked to the next car in the small window-- and saw no one there as well. The outside of the train window was black with small flickers of the passing lights with the same violet glow. "What the hell... What's going on?" He asked aloud, even though no one was there.
All the more, his phone bugged out more. Between the screens that flickered in his hand, the app seemed to flash through data on Obito's phone. Numerous moments his phone's screen background showed up-- showing the same panther image he had drawn. The blue card's logo and the panther picture he drew.
The phone's light was the only real means for Obito to see, but he looked around the train car nervously. He couldn't tell where he was from the outside, the tunnel now seeming to be staticky too, as if the windows were computer screens.
"What is going on... " Obito gasped, then finally caved to raise his voice. "Hey! Anyone there?! Hello!? HELP!"
Then he felt a sudden twinge in the back of his neck-- a startling sensation. He felt as if someone was watching him. He turned, and looked to the far window of the subway car. He approached it slowly, unsure what he saw-- but soon it cut through the black of the window as two yellow eyes opened up and glared at Obito.
"GHRAAAA!" Obito shouted, and jumped back. Startled, he fell flat on his ass and slid backward from the train's movement. The yellow eyes glared at him-- alone and without a shadow as if something was on the other side of the glass. Obito quivered, completely clueless and frightened. "Ah... ha..." he gasped, trying to stay calm but his shoulders quivered.
He wanted to run, but he was in a train car with little ways out. As the eyes stared back at him, his phone ssoon glowed brighter. The light from the phone grew brighter as a pure white-- the images now blurring together and seemed to shine outward.
Even despite the powerful flash-- Obito's eyes were fixed on the yellow eyes in the window. The flash of light caused the eyes to widen. As it flashed, Obito heard the fierce cry of a jungle cat echo in his ears, and soon the light blinded him.

Obito snapped his eyes open, his breath labored as he shut his eyes briefly from the flash-- but soon realized he was back in his seat. Sweat dripped from his brow as he looked around...
The train car was once again with people in it, as if nothing had happened. The car was back out from the tunnel and now he could see the evening sun in the distance. He could even see his own town not too far off from where he was.
His mind raced to figure out what happened. It was as if the incident didn't even happen, but he knew he wasn't crazy. He saw the car empty, and the THING In the window. Slowly, he calmed his breath and looked down to his phone. The biggest difference was the cards he had been holding were scattered on the seat beside him. As he looked to his phone, he saw an error message appear on his phone that said "Can't read data" as if the card was not a Digimon card at all, or carried the same bar-code reader. Whatever the reason, it was now fixable as he simply closed the app-- his phone working.
However, Obito felt something different, in his right hand now. His hands were both gripped tightly did he finally notice the odd thing-- something new in his hand. He turned to look and turned his hand up.
In his palm was an odd shaped plastic device. It was in a somewhat round-ish shape with a long protrusion, with buttons along the front-- and with a square screen surrounded by a violet frame. A single cloth strap was connected to it, also violet in color. ON the sides were slits in it-- along with circuitry meant to read it like credit cards or other forms of card readers. His breath stilled as he looked it the mysterious device, having no idea where it came from. "What the hell is going on..." he whispered to himself. He touched the buttons, but the screen soon just showed a blank-like void, unable to boot up immediately. Then a small bar appeared-- as if it was loading something.
WHile Obito silently reeled from the strange events, the train continued to ride towards its next stop-- where Obito would soon get off in order to return home.

The train soon slowed to a hault as Obito had gotten up and stepped out as the doors opened. All the while he kept his new device in his hand, clenched so tight he wondered if the plastic shell would crack. The sky was now dyed orange as he walked over to his apartment building. This region of Chiyoda was overlooking the Hibiki park nearby, and his home was in clear view of it. Trees were planted around the cityscape, making it feel more natural. Due to his parents working close with the university in Tokyo, they now more local and traveled only on occasion.
A heavy sigh escaped Obito as he walked down the street that was close to the train station, and led to the shining glass apartment building that he lived in. His mind still raced with the events that happened. And yet, he still had that same nagging feeling in the back of his mind. That odd sensation that he was being spied on. However, whenever he turned down the street, no one was there.
Obito soon reached the sliding doors of his apartment building and passed the security guard who watched the Lobby. He waved to the guard, who knew him, and proceeded right for the elevator to ride it up to the 10th floor.
He rested his back on the cold metal bar around the elevator. Even as he was alone in the small space, moving up, he felt he was still followed. A strange creeping sensation that seemed to weigh over his shoulder. He shook his head, trying to get the thought out of his head. He shook his head so far, his glasses fell off briefly and clattered on the ground. "Shit..." he grumbled and picked it up.
As the elevator dinged and opened, he saw the long hallway with the other apartment rooms. At his place, 107, he unlocked it with his key and entered into the apartment. The scent of fish wafted in the air as he soon saw his mother cooking in the open area kitchen that was attached to the living room space. "Welcome back, Obito," she greeted as she looked over her shoulder. "Dinner should be ready in about a half hour..." she said, but stopped as she could tell Obito was unnerved. "Obito, what's wrong?"
Obito just rubbed his head. "I'm a bit tired. I might of dozed off on the train." he said, thinking he hallucinated. "I'm gonna take a nap for a bit."
"OKay. I'll wake you up when dinner is done, okay?" she asked.
"Thanks, mom..." he said groggily and walked to the door that led to his room.

He closed the door to his room shut and sighed. He walked over to his desk against the wall, positioned with his computer monitor and console on another table. He dumped his wallet, cards and cell phone onto the desk and walked over to his bed which was tucked into the corner. He still clung to the device that mysteriously appeared in his hand. As he took off his jacket, he flopped down onto the bed on his back and held up the strange device. "This can't be real..." he thought aloud, looking at the deep purple color of the device. "Could this really be a digivice. But digimon is just a game. "
He lowered his arm and let out a yawn. However, as he did, he saw a small glow on the screen. The previous loading screen had filled up, but just blinked. Obito, tired, shut his eyes. He removed his glasses and placed them on the other pillow of his bed. He never saw the screen blink "OK" when he dozed off.
He spent a few minutes in a blissful sleep of his nap, till he heard a beeping of his device. He opened his eyes slowly and soon saw the same OK logo flashing-- till finally, it opened up.
The entire device suddenly released something new-- a holographic round image that stemmed out from the screen. If Obito wasn't half asleep, he would have jumped at the reaction. His vision was blurry without his glasses but he sat himself up and looked. He couldn't believe this device was capable of creating a hologram, and one so realistic. It seemed almost like a radar-- but the image was showing something live, like a camera. Unable to see clearly, he retreived his glasses and looked down at the image...
... to show it was himself. A camera vision of himself like a webcam-- except the angle showed the viewer was coming from the window. "This has got to be a dream..." he breathed and slowly turned-- the image on the hologram slowly draggins his eyes to look right at the source.
Through the now darkened sky, a shadowy figure stood out from the window-- black as the night behind it-- save for the same yellow eyes that glared at him.
"GHAAA!" Obito shouted and spun around-- falling out of the bed and crawled backwards. He moved back till he hit the door of his closet, shocked and wide-eyed at what he saw. It glared at him from outside the window, the same eyes from the train! He had no clue what was happening, but he felt a sudden dread wash over him. "Maybe.. a nightmare..."
The eyes continued to look at him. Finally, they moved along with the shadow of its body-- and seemed to pass right through the glass of the window. His body stiffened even more, the creature or whatever it was approaching him now. It just seemed to move through matter with ease, as if it was a ghost. Now inside the room, Obito could see it was almost cat-like. A large, hulking and lean animal like a jungle cat. However as he saw that, his fear turned to awe as he saw it closer.
A black panther, moving with smooth stalking strides as he slowly approached. He was the spitting image out of Obito's drawings of him. His throat went dry in fear as the cat came closer, the eyes still on him unblinking. The cat drew so close, Obito felt he was gonna have a heart attack-- or the cat eating him whole.
He closed his eyes and braced himself, unable to look anymore.
There was nothing that followed-- as the cat just tilted his head, observing Obito's strange fear and behavior. A soft growl escaped the cat.
"Please... please don't eat me..." Obito shook, wishing the nightmare was over.
The cat growled lightly and lightened his gaze up at Obito. "Um... I'm not partial to humans, so no worries." the cat replied.

Obito froze for a bit-- not out of fear but confusion. The words were as clear as a bell but he couldn't believe what he heard. Slowly he looked up, now face to face with the large jungle cat. Though clearly a cat in every manner and appearance, there seemed to be an awareness in his eyes. The fear was gone in Obito as he blinked and pushed himself up using the wall. All the while the cat looked up as he stood up.
The panther came up to Obito's waste in height and was as long as how any jungle cat should be. He kept trying to see if he was dreaming, but it was very real to him-- but all dreams could be. He took off his glasses, rubbed his eyes and put them back on as he tried to make sense of things. "Um... am I dreaming here?" he asked.
The panther gave a tilt of his head and growled lightly. "If you were, how would asking me help?" he responded back, his mouth opened to talk.
Obito slid out from the wall and fell into his computer chair. He blinked and looked to the cat again, sure he wasn't dreaming now. He closed his eyes for a moment, trying to sort out his confused thoughts. He opened his eyes, getting a few view of the jungle cat. Bracers and all... and then his thoughts came back, able to comprehend who and what he say." Are you... Panthermon?" he asked.
The cat nodded his head at Obito. "That's right, but you should know. You gave me that name," Panthermon answered.
"But -- but then... how ...?" Obito shook his head again, trying to comprehend. "THen... then you're really a Digimon. Digimon... are real?"
The large cat let out a wide yawn of his maw. "Give the kid a prize," he answered, possessing a sarcastic zing to his tone.
Obito slowly turned towards his bed, and found the Digivice he knocked over when he tumbled out of it. It blinked lightly as it laid on the carpet of the floor. He got out of the chair and picked it up, and looked back to his panther. "So... if Digimon are real-- no wait, better question..." Obito corrected, "How can YOU be here? You're a Digimon I literally created years ago as pictures. So why..."
"Beats me," the cat said as he sat down on his haunches and swished his tail. "I know a few things. I am Panthermon. I am the Partner of my creator-- Obito Kamigawa. That is you right?" the cat asked, his last part sarcastic. "I also know you are smarter than this... but I did just catch you in a catnap I guess. "
So many questions ran through his head-- till a knock came to the door.
"Obito? Dinner time," his mother's voice called. "Is everything okay? I hear you talking aloud."
Slowly the door began to open...

Obito gasped, and his heart went into overdrive. If his mother walked in to a giant freaking-jungle cat in the room, she might freak out. Probably in the literal sense too. He quickly stepped into view of the cat to block her -- but she soon opened the door and entered. "What's going on?"
"Mom, I can explain! I mean--" Obito stammered.
"What's going on? Who are you talking to in here?" she asked, her expression calm.
"I-- huh...?" he stopped when he turned around---
-- and the giant jungle cat Digimon was gone. He turned around completely and looked around. The cat was no where to be found, vanished without a trace. "Uh..."
"Obito, you okay?" she asked and approached. She reahced out and felt Obito's head, feeling him warm to the touch. "Goodness, you're really warm. You not feeling well?"
The touch snapped Obito back to attention as he turned to his mother. "I-- I'm fine. Well I think I am... Um' sorry," he said.
His mother gave him a worried expression and turned for the door. "Well, Dinner is ready-- but maybe you should shower and go to bed early. You don't look well, honey." she said.
"I-I promise. Thanks. I'll be out soon," he said and took a deep breath to calm himself.
As she left, she closed the door and Obito released a long held breath of relief.

With his mother gone, he soon looked around, but couldn't see where Panthermon had disappeared to. He quickly got down on his knees and looked under the bed-- but he didn't see the giant cat-- even if he could squeeze under the narrow gap. He got back up and looked around. The window was still shut and he didn't see anyone.
"Um... Hello? Still here?" Obito called out softly, unsure what happened. There was a silence in the room, and Obito started to truly question if he was hallucinating. "Panthermon?"
"Yeah, I'm here," a voice came out easily from the air-- with no source to be seen.
Obito looked around, now afraid that he was being truly haunted. "Where are you?" He hissed, now at wit's end with the disappearing Digimon.
The cat gave a soft chuckle--- and soon a shimmer of blackness appeared. Positioned on Obito's bed, Panthermon reappeared. He now was sitting there reclined on the mattress, looking at Obito as if he had always been there. Obito jumped at the sight of the cat.
"Wha... What the?" he gasped.
THe cat merely stretched out his limbs and raised his tail. His claws also lightly tugged at the covers of the bed. He handled the whole disappearing act as if it was nothing.
"How did you disappear like that?" Obito asked, confused.
The cat looked up to Obito with a puzzled look. "I just turned invisible. I sensed my presence would cause a hindrance if seen-- so I just turned invisible and waited for her to go." he said, casual as if he just rolled his tongue.
Obito tilted his glasses a bit, to refocus. "But... HOW?" he asked.
The cat yawned again and laid down. "I just can," he replied casually.
Recovered a bit, Obito furrowed his brow. "Listen, smart-guy... I don't--" he replied, but was soon silenced as the cat turned to the door of his room.
"I'd get going to dinner. You don't want your mother walking in again, right?" he interrupted a sly smirk on the cat's face.
Obito had been thrown through so many hoops he was growing upset, but the cat had a point. He put down the Digivice on his desk and with a final glance at the cat, walked towards the living room for dinner.

Obito paced himself in dinner. His father was running late for work, held up by substituting for another class-- so he and his mother ate together. Despite his mother's concerns about him, he insisted everything was fine. As he ate, he knew he had some good things going on, and his thoughts collected more. He now knew something life changing. Though his dinner of salmon was good, it didn't stop the thoughts from flooding into his head.
As he finished, he put his dishes into the dishwasher and thanked his mother for the meal. He then excused himself and returned to his room.
The final doubts of his existence were washed away as Obito found the same giant panther on his bed, his head over his paws in a leisurely position at the foot of his bed. He couldn't deny it now. Digimon were real. Panthermon was REAL and he created him.
"What? No fish for me?" the cat said with a soft yawn of his maw.
Obito frowned at the cat. "You demand food after you follow me and break into my house?" he asked.
The cat opened his eyes and gave Obito a leering look. "Relax. I'm kidding." he replied.
Obito sat back down at his computer chair and looked at the cat. "Okay, spill it . Why are you here? And what is this mean by I created you?" he asked, his expression now more serious.
Panthermon remained chilled as he sat there and listened to Obito's questions. "I am here because you wished it-- or rather that is the answer to your second question. Honestly, I am not certain about the details myself, but I know a few things." he replied, "My data was based off the data that one-- Obito Kamigawa created. I know this as easily as I would know my own name. Its as simple as that. Next, why am I here-- is because of you. I am here as your partner, to protect and aid you. At least, that was what my programming said."
"Your... Programming?" Obito asked, adjusting his glasses.
"Yes. I know simply because I was meant to-- simple as that," the cat said. "Though I'd imagine you would be more grateful to have a digimon with you than not. But I can take off if you want."
"No-no! That's not what i meant," Obito said, afraid he offended the creature he dreamed up. "I'm sorry..."
"Relax, kid. I'm pulling your tail," Panthermon replied with a chuckle.
Obito narrowed his gaze at the cat. "Typical... You're just as sassy as every cat is." he replied.

Obito rubbied his head as he realized the one question that nagged at him. "Okay... so all that stuff considered, what do you want me to do?" he asked Panthermon, "I mean, I get why you are here, but what do you want me to do?" He was nervous now-- the responsibility of harboring a digital-dimensional creature in his room from his family and all the risk that came with it. He would be worried-- but it was true. He CREATED this Digimon. His own Digimon like all the comics and games. This was real. He would of been a fool to pass it up-- including the fact this was a Digimon he dreamed of even before he learned about the game. It was as if he was his picture and something his heart could never let go-- even if his first impression of the cat was a bit of a smart-ass.
It was at that moment the giant cat rose his head up to look at Obito. "Well, that all depends on you. I'm your partner, and you are a Digimon Tamer now. The choice is yours what you want to do with that power." he said.
"Power...?" Obito said, holding the Digivice in his hand. THe feel of it allowed him to understand he could do real change now. "Still... I'd want to know what you want to do?"
Panthermon sighed and raised a paw to lick it with his cat-like tongue. "Well, I am a fighter, so what comes naturally when we meet another Digimon-- should it come to that." He then proceeded to groom himself. He made an amazing interpretation of a regular cat, if it wasn't for his speech, gauntlets and ring on his right leg-- no one would could have told the difference.
It was then that Obito started his adventure... his new life as a Digimon Tamer. The excitement and danger that came with it.
The End.
