Mizuki, or Mimi as she is known to the few who are close to her, is somewhat of an enigma to most of her schoolmates. The first year ind high school rarely attends classes due to a chronic illness. As such, most see her a mysterious figure. It isn't unusual for Mizuki to hide in the library with her games when she is well enough to go to school to avoid the prying eyes of her classmates. As such, she's gained a bit of a reputation as a bit of a delinquent. Many students dislike her as the school seems to let her do what she wants due to her illness.
[break][break]
At heart, Mizuki is a kind young girl. However, that kindness seems to be hidden behind a self entitled sense of pride. The girl has come to terms with her illness and expected life span long ago. Now, she feels entitled to everything and anything life has to offer to her. While she goes to class to avoid trouble with her father, Mizuki rarely attends the classes. She doesn't seem to care about anything other than enjoying herself, and because she spent most of her childhood locked up in hospitals, the main method of enjoyment for her comes from games.
[break][break]
While Mizuki is fragile body wise, her mind is as sharp as a tact. Despite her missing classes and skipping, the girl does phenomenally well in exams. She always ranks within the top 3 students. Mizuki's mind has been honed while the rest of her body slowly withers away. She takes pride in this, and she will often hold it over others. After all, it's one of the few things she has.
[break][break]
Mizuki's interactions with others can vary from disinterest due to being focused on a game to teasing them. She seems to enjoy dissecting other individuals to find weaknesses- however, ultimately, the girl will give advice to others in a rather blunt manner. Mizuki's bluntness often sours any interactions with her, but the majority of the time, her advice does come from sincere concern. Despite her rotten outer personality, Mizuki does care deeply for others- even those she barely knows.
[break][break]
When alone, Mizuki becomes much more somber. It's clear the weight of her illness is heavy on her shoulder. Rarely, when someone does catch her unaware, they'll find a young girl who's trying her best not to cry.

Mizuki was born in Tokyo, Japan to a government worker and a businesswoman. For as long as she could remember, both her parents were severely work oriented. So, when their daughter proved to be extremely fragile, they hired dedicated nannies for the girl. However, when Mizuki was three, it became clear something was wrong. The girl became a resident at a hospital as doctors cared for her. The girl seemed to have been born with an immunodeficiency disorder, and it didn't help that her body was already fragile due to being a premature birth.
[break][break]
Her parents did their best to visit her in the hospital. However, as Mizuki got older, her mother stopped coming to see her. When she was seven, the doctors decided to try letting her go home for a while. They gave her medicines to constantly take. Her parents were instructed heavily on what to do. She even got to go to school. When she was at school, Mizuki had fun. She had never been around other kids her own age. However, at home, she noticed her mother was never there. Her father was rarely there as well, and every time she asked about her mother, he gave a cold look and didn't answer. Eventually, Mizuki's health took another dive.
[break][break]
She was forced to return to the hospital and spend her final elementary school and most of her middle school years there. The schools sent her work to the hospital for her to do there, and she would do her best to attend on exam days. Mizuki tried her hardest to make sure she was always at the top of her class- so her parents wouldn't worry. However, during her final middle school year, she learned two distressing things.
[break][break]
The first was that her parents had gotten a divorce, with her mother leaving for overseas without so much as saying goodbye to Mizuki. The second was that the doctors predicted she wouldn't live past the age of twenty. The girl had discovered this accidentally when she ease dropped on a conversation the doctors were having with her father. After that verdict, it was decided that Mizuki would live at home and come to the hospital two to three times a week for check ups. Her father didn't want his daughter living the last years of her life in a hospital.
[break][break]
Still, Mizuki felt numb towards her father. Once home, she realized the divorce had not been recent. Furthermore, he continued to work constantly- leaving her alone. She only saw him once a week- if that. Mizuki became withdrawn in all aspects, only acting out when others approached her. She started spending all of her time in the school library playing games on her handheld. It was only when she found a weird book in the shelves that things began to get interesting...
