Lazy and useless as he is however, he does have a few talents. Most of them apparently rather useless. He has nearly Savant-esque skills when it comes to ruining other nerds' fun, through shameless munchkinry at both Card, Roleplay, and video games, which happen to be the only sort of games he is liable to be found playing, as they require little to no physical exertion.
[break][break]
A look at the extremely cluttered and busy schedule that followed him from childhood to early adolescence would suggest he has more skills at his disposal, but his it's hard to imagine someone like him with any real talents. One such talent many wouldn't expect from someone with such a dull expression in his face at all times is his memory. Eidetic memory is essentially the ability to recall images with vividness bordering on actual visual perception.
[break][break]
Toshiro's most marketable skill, however, is programming. The supposed brilliance the person who tested him promised his parents is essentially used to... make Videogame Emulators. Through the power of pantreon, Toshirou has found himself a source of reasonable income with a job he can essentially work whenever he wants. He doesn't do much work throughout the day, but between weeks releases little updates to let his patrons know he is 'finishing up' soon. He is kind of a jerk like that.
[break][break]
Good things to say about Toshiro. Well, let's see... He's... some sort of level-headed. Rather, he seems to be serene in the most unlikely of situations, to the point one may think he is completely unaware of what is going on around him. He is also an extremely passive person. Whether it's due to patience or lack of caring, it's hard to tell. He rarely rises up to threats, challenges, insults, or anything, really. He is sort of easily pushed around by more forceful people, and his way of 'putting his foot down' is simply to leave while nobody is watching.
[break][break]
He occasionally takes walks when he grows tired of his room. Usually only happens after at least 4 days of hermitage.
[attr="class","loner_head"] PERSONALITY
A lazy young man with a crude sense of humor and absolutely no cares in life. A truant of the highest order, it has been over 2 years since he was last seen even close to a school, and he has no plans of changing that any time soon. Rebellious against the Japanese society's work environment, which he perceives as borderline slavery and a fast tracked way to a miserable existence. He approaches nearly everything he does with no enthusiasm whatsoever and all the vigor of a man 3 times his age. At a young age, he was supposedly tested and his parents assured that he would grow up to be brilliant; his parents are pretty sure they were ripped off. [break][break]

It wasn't anything particularly impressive, some would say, but the dubious origin of said reading skills prompted Toshiro's parents to have him tested. As it turned out, Toshiro was a gifted child, supposedly so, and had great promise if his talents were 'properly nourished'.
[break][break]
His parents understood this as 'fill his schedule with tutors, extracurriculars and whatever other crap you can find until he scarcely has the time to go to the bathroom.' 10 years later of tutors, sports, what-have-you, Toshiro, age 15, cracked under the pressure of his parents expectations like a walnut under an industrial press. A couple of months into his last year of senior highschool, he suffered a loud nervous breakdown in front of his entire class. The following day, he didn't return. Nor did he the next. His grades went from top of the class to bottom of the barrel, and his perfect attendance record marred by a series of consecutive, unjustified absences.
[break][break]
Needless to say, this choice was met with a lot of resistance from his parents, though Toshiro remained steadfast and stubborn. In fits of rebelliousness, he made a lot of dumb choices. The first one of many being his bleached, blonde hair.
[break][break]
It wasn't really in his nature to be temperamental, however. A month or so after his breakdown, and he had no anger left in him. He still refused to return to school; in fact, he refused to do anything that reminded him of the expectations that had been placed on him.
[break][break]
He became 'lazy'. Unwilling to do sports or read any books that really made him think, he started wasting time playing games. Card games, roleplaying games, video games. They comparatively little thoughts and provided an escape from his troubles. Such as the increasing tension at his household.
[break][break]
The experiences leading to his breakdown made him grow an intense dislike for the expectations and norms of Japanese Society as a whole. It felt like their entire society was set around raising drones and slaves to work for the corporations at the expense of their own selves, their own health and their family's. He refused to become another slave.
[break][break]He still needed money, though. He would find a niche he could fill easily enough in time.[break][break]Two years of a generally sedentary and lazy existence came and went, and with it, much of Toshiro's drive and motivation seemed to disappear. He did nothing but play games all day, and had successfully conned a plethora of patrons into paying him while he only occasionally worked on giving them what they wanted. His current existence the complete opposite's of that of his younger self. [break][break]He didn't dread the idea finishing his education as much as he once did before. Now, he simply had grown used to being lazy. It was a much more comfortable, much less stressful way of life compared to that of his younger self. His body dreaded having to go back to putting any effort whatsoever into anything.
[break][break]
Unfortunately for him, the decision was taken off his hand. His digimon partner appeared one day, quite literally out of nowhere. A loud, overbearing and very energetic thing, with high expectations for itself and aspirations of becoming stronger. And, unfortunately for Shiro, Unwillingness to take no for an answer. He would make it stronger, whether he wanted it or not.
[attr="class","loner_head"] HISTORY
Toshiro Emiya was born in Shibuya, Tokyo to a pair of very strict and traditionally minded parents. Dedicated to their job and the company they worked for more than anything else, they had little time to raise their child, leaving the task of doing so to whichever nanny they could acquire for the week. After the first four, rather uneventful years of Toshiro's life, a turning point in his very short existence occurred. Shortly after becoming five years of age, Toshiro seemingly... just learned how to read. Nobody could tell how exactly it happened; his parents, as stated before, were busy adults, scarcely paying any attention to their child, and it didn't seem like his nannies had anything to do with it.[break][break]It wasn't anything particularly impressive, some would say, but the dubious origin of said reading skills prompted Toshiro's parents to have him tested. As it turned out, Toshiro was a gifted child, supposedly so, and had great promise if his talents were 'properly nourished'.
