Oh thank god, someone else did it for him. While as a host he suffered, as a person Chousen flourished and felt a huge weight rolling off of his chest as Emiya got to making the tea for him while he searched around for the waffles. He could swear the old man had mentioned buying some, but the more he searched, the more he was beginning to think that he had been either lied to, or that the old man had used up all the waffles beforehand. Or maybe he was simply remembering things wrong. How absolutely embarrassing... At least he hadn't promised them waffles just yet, reaching out to grab a whole packet of biscuits. It'll do.
"Truly, pardon me for asking my esteemed gusts to do some work for the sake of the ceremony. Such a thing is unbecoming of me, especially for such an occasion. I shall try to do better the next time I hold such an event." Despite how casual and abruptly planned this whole little get-together had been, Chousen still spoke with a clearly grave tone, looking down as he walked over to the table and grabbed a seat, leaving his shinai to lean against the counter as he put the packet of biscuits down onto the table. At least he still managed without tripping or messing up in any major way, a small victory if nothing else. He then glanced around between the two, trying to think of something to say.
"..." Yeah, he had nothing. At least the two had to introduce each other, so he could keep a moment's quiet before he'd be forced to come up with something. Maybe why he was here? But wait, hadn't he said that before? Had he? Argh, socialization was hard when he had to pay attention to multiple people, especially when it wasn't outside with the slightest danger of battle. The biggest danger here was accidentally choking on a cookie crumb, or dropping a cup of tea. Actually, that was fairly dangerous. Oof, just the mere thought of stepping on a sharp shard of glass made his spine tingle just a bit.Toshiro Emiya Haru Toriya

Toshiro simply hummed at the girl's observation, not really turning to look at her at all. "Oh yeah, weird."
Silence.
After just enough silence to make the girl feel uncomfortable, the young man yawned. Then spoke.
"It's Toshiro, by the by." He said as he took a seat at the table as well, leaning his head onto his open palm as he awaited for Chousen to arrive with the snacks.
No waffles in sight when he finally did. Oh well. He didn't bother to voice any complaints. Whether Chousen hadn't found any or had simply chosen to not prepare them didn't matter.
"Eh. I don't mind. May as well help speed things up while we are here." The shop was closed and Chousen himself was essentially a guest to the old man. It was best to make this relatively prompt before the digimon got in trouble.
The silence that followed was awkward to say the least. He wasn't really all that sociable, but hey, anything was better than this silence.
"So. Chousen. You are a digimon, we've established." He hummed, scratching at his chin. "But how are you -or any of these other digimon- here in the first place? Are you just popping out of computers?"
He turned his head towards Haru, cocking his head slightly.
"And how many 'tamers' are there anyways? Should I be worried every time I go outside I'll run into one of them?"

"It's okay, we don't mind! It's the least we can do. Besides, we are a bit taller than you. Easier to reach cabinets. No offense of course." Haru was quick to chime into Chousen's apologetic nature, thrilled to talk to someone so kind and polite. There was something heart-warming about talking to someone so uppity about about their manners, she giggling cutely. "You are very kind Chousen-san."With some freshly-made tea and some small snacks to go alongside it, they were about ready to start it seemed. "Itadakimasu ~" The girl politely bowed slightly before seating herself. She took a sip from her cup (it still a bit too hot, though she didn't mind). She while remained a bit silent (a lil' silence wasn't ever a bad thing at times), she was quick to jump into Toshiro's conversation. "There are more Digimon than you'd think it seems. Enough for like three gangs of tamers to form all over Japan. Or uh... was it four?" The girl would comment, tilting her head as she tried to remember the names of the groups. Shibuya Busters... or was it Shinigawa? Honestly, they were names she didn't pay terribly much attention too. "I dunno if its anything to be worried about though. I think the gangs are like, pre-occupied with eachother... but that's only what I've heard from the Dark Net. Cept I think one... but hey, look at me! I been a tamer for a month and nothing bad has happened to me and Tawna!"

Ah, someone who could appreciate proper etiquette and manners! He'd blush if he could, bowing his head towards Haru as he took his cup and blew at it a bit to try and cool it down. The tea was steaming, but after a quick taste test he deemed it acceptable. The searing hot liquid ran down his throat with a satisfied sigh leaving him soon after. He'd always been a fan of hot tea, its burning taste leaving just the right kind of feeling after letting it rest a bit. He almost audibly smacked his lips together, but kept himself from doing so to hold up proper table manners. Primal instincts were so hard to control sometimes, especially when dealing with good food and drink.
"How my kind comes here...? Well. I do not know if the progress is universal to us all, and 'tis quite hard to explain in full. I suppose, to paraphrase it into something light and easily understandable, 'tis like... Bouncing up from underwater? Pushing against this "veil" until thy can break through, and thus you realize upon this world. The progress should be easily repeatable back into the digital world. I haven't had the chance to yet, but 'tis how I have heard it goes. I do not think electronic devices are actually needed for this "realization" to happen, though. I can not recall any existing in the area I "realized" in, but I might simply have missed them."
Toriya filled in on the gangs of the city. He'd heard things about them, and even met a few representatives of the gangs here and there. He was starting to wonder if that sharp haired fellow from before was also a member of one of those gangs. It'd be a possibility, after all, he had a digimon. But both Emiya and Haru seemed to be going solo, at least according to their reactions. "I go outside every night, and most of those nights I manage encounters with tamers. I'd presume the numbers are growing exponentially as us digimon keep breaching into this world. I am not sure how they are creating pacts with you humans, but 'tis a tempting thing."
Chousen took another sip and released a subdued, yet content sigh. "I simply hope the increase shan't spill into the current political landscape of your country. I am fairly sure most of us didn't come here to affect this world too deeply, yet the more there are... I am slightly concerned for what will come if we keep pouring over."Haru Toriya Toshiro Emiya

"Pushing against a veil? Huh." The fabric of existence, perhaps? What the fuck was he even thinking. All he knew about physics was what he had learned at school. He needed to stop mentally quoting shows he watched.
"So there was no digital tech at all where you emerged? That's... strange." How else would the digital world connect with the human world, though? Then again, he didn't know anything about the digital world or how its existence worked. Perhaps he was making too many assumptions based on its name alone.
By the gogglehead's count, there were 3, perhaps four gangs of digimon tamers all over japan already. The fact that these were referred to as 'gangs' as opposed to teams, organizations or anything of the like sounded less than promising.
"Gangs? As in, punks, delinquents and the like?" Getting a gun was damn near impossible in Japan, but who needed a little lead shooter when you had monsters that could breath elements down upon the masses like carpet bombers.
"That's... worrying." Specially since Chousen confirmed that he pretty much ran into them on a daily (nightly) basis.
Maybe he would just stay at home and deal with the annoying beetle after all.
"The Political landscape? Huh." Well, if there were that many digimon tamers, chances were the Japanese government was already well aware of digimon and their existence. "Weird, I haven't seen or read any warnings on the news." Not even on the internet. Little to no info had been found when he searched through his regular internet browser.
He had considered trying to go into the darknet to get check it out... but he didn't think the potential risks were worth it.
Perhaps the government was trying to keep it all on the down low? How one kept things like giant, fire breathing dinosaurs and lightning spitting Dragons was anyone's guess, but if they were doing it, they were clearly very successful at it.
"Do you think the Japanese government already knows about it? Somehow I doubt this has slipped under the radar, if one can run into a tamer every time you go out at night."

"What if it's like... a computer network? There's probably so much data being broadcasted from devices in Japan that it makes it possible for Digimon to appear anywhere?" Haru added into the conversation on how Digimon were able to just kinda appear. It didn't seem too far-fetched in her eyes that perhaps a lot of little electronics all over Japan could kinda make one BIG one that Digimon could jump through. "I uhh... kinda saw an anime once that was like that." She'd make sure to add in, puffing her cheeks slightly from embarassment. It was a fair point regardless. If more Digimon are popping up in the real world, it meant more tamers. Knowing that she was just one of many tamers in Japan... and perhaps around the world? Well, it made her feel a bit small and insignificant. Honestly, that wasn't a bad feeling despite what one may think. It was still an odd process. It wasn't like people were chosen by other tamers to become tamers. She was oblivious to their existence when she too became one, so what WAS the cause of someone becoming a Digimon Tamer? "I'm not sure either how to be honest. When I first met Tawna, she was kinda half-dead. I just thought she was some kind of weird dog at the time, but by the time I learned that she wasn't and she recovered..." She'd begin to speak, pulling out her Digivice. "I got this lil' doohickey. Like, it just kind of... appeared out of nowhere?"There were really a ton of things about this whole tamer deal that still confused her, and it felt like some questions were not going to be answered anytime soon. How WAS this all kept secret anyway? "Maybe Toshiro is right? I can't imagine every tamer is responsible enough to try and keep their Digimon out of sight... and if there are Digimon without tamers who keep popping into our world, that could be super hairy if it's not regulated."

"Perhaps... Hm. I have seen adverts on the television, and occasionally I have heard them on the radio as well. Digimon are not foreign beings to you, aye? Even from before all of these events begun to take place. Card games, video games, TV series, even the occasional drama CD advert from what I've heard. Digimon is a global brand, and a global brand is an easy way to cover up the occasional digimon sighting, aye? I am sure 'tis the official reasoning, at least. Larger cases could be handled by the government before they come out to the public, and the smaller cases are sweeped under the rug as a crazy, well. What do you call it? Costume player?"
His head tilts as he takes another sip of the tea, nodding his head sagely soon after. Whatever the case, he was rather confident of his judgement. Hiding the smaller breaks in reality was easy by simply saying someone who was cosplaying played a prank, or by saying that it was a clever advertising move. "How many do you think come through daily? Genuinely speaking, there are too many for the government to hide them. I know many try and break through daily, and they only last mere hours before they are defeated and either sent back or absorbed into data to be fed into the coding of other digimon present here. Thus goes on the circle of life set upon us for so long."
But what concerned him were the bigger cases. The ones that could not be covered by the government simply saying that it was a crazy marketing stunt. Something like that had to happen, powerful digimon had just as much interest in this world of humans as the weaker ones did. "But what would happen to the bigger breaks, of say... Champion level digimon? Those could easily level a good block or two of the city if they got going. 'Tis odd. Maybe they are blocking entry of certain levels? Or are they eliminating those entries before they come to reality? Or perhaps they do not even know of the matter after all, and 'tis all but conjecture in the wind, with luck guiding us thus far?"
Chousen sighs in a frustrated manner and takes a long, long sip, almost emptying his cup as he places it back down and shakes his head. "There are too many questions... And I am sorry for presenting them all in such a peaceful moment, especially as I am not much better than any other invader. I simply came here searching for strong opponents. Ha, to concern me with what would happen here is so hypocritical of me." That sigh collapses into an almost sad chuckle. He was being very hypocritical, wasn't he?Haru Toriya Toshiro Emiya

Stared at the girl silently for a few seconds, the tea cup from which he had been about to take a sip hovering over his lips in pause. For a moment he turned to look at the cup as if it had some strange liquid inside it, before ultimately shrugging and taking a deep sip.
"Must have been some good stuff, whatever those leaves actually were." He said, taking a deep drink of the tea. Haru promptly explained the sudden burst of wisdom and dispelled any magic tea illusions.
Toshiro shifted his gaze towards the 'do-hickey' she produced from one of her pockets, tilting an eyebrow. Another D-Arc, much like the one he had back home. And much like those plastic ones kids used to have years ago.
"I had one of those when I was a kid. Was made of plastic though. They are based on the show's gizmos, right?" He paused.
"I wonder what came before." Chousen's words rang true. Digimon had been a succesful franchise for a lot of years now. "Did the creators of the franchise just copy what they saw from the actual digital world? Are they tamers themselves?"
Or was the digital World a by-product of the show?
It made far more sense for them to copy it, he felt.
He let the other two think about it while he pondered Chousen's multiple questions.
"Blocking their entry? How would they do that, I wonder." He leaned back onto his seat, crossing both arms behind his head while humming. "It's probably something they can detect. Maybe larger digimon are easier to detect while trying to tear the veil? Wouldn't be surprised if these digimon just popped into the human world and were immediately ambushed and killed." Modern militaries were usually very pragmatic like that.
Toshiro simply waved his hand dismissively at Chousen's apology. "Invader? The Earth doesn't belong to the humans, no matter what most people may think. It's just the hunk of rock we were born on, you are free to come and go as far as I'm concerned. And you seem peaceful enough, I feel." Even if he did claim to have come to the human world to grow stronger.
He didn't quite understand how he had intended to do that if he wasn't looking for a partner, but he wouldn't pry.

"Gosh, when ya put it that way... I guess it does kinda make sense. When I was a kid, I just kinda saw the anime series to be just ya know... fiction." Haru would mention, realizing just how strange it was for Digimon to both be a franchise and be actually real at the same time. It was an ironic case of fiction turning out to be fact (rather than the other way around). "Man, I hate it when things get complicated. I don't know about you, but I like for my answers to be black and white. Theres just too many weird questions that we can't answer."Chousen and Toshiro were right though, it felt unlikely that if there were a government... they couldn't be able to get every single last Digimon that invades the real world. It was like a big bug net. While it could get the bigger bugs, smaller ones could slip out. "Maybe... maybe that's why tamers are around? We kinda act like a weirdness filter for regular humans! If there IS a government that tries to keep Digimon out of our world, then tamers could be like an extra filter to catch those Digimon that the government can't get!" She'd exclaim somewhat giddily, trying to rationalize what tamers' roles were. While it was a very optimistic way of looking at things, she did know that it wasn't perfect. There were too many tamers, and after all... they were just people. And like all people, there are rotten eggs. "... It's just kind of a shame that people feel the need to feud with eachother. Imagine what all the tamers could do if we just worked together."Regardless, Haru's opinion of Digimon was not biased. She only knew about them for about a month, but she saw Digimon to be people too. "Oy! I don't care if you or Tawna are made of data or aren't natural. You guys are living beings just like us, so you have just as much a right to live here as we do!" She'd add in to Toshiro's retort towards Chousen's apology as a so-called invader. "I know there's a lot of differences between humans an Digimon, but I really do think that we can all co-exist if we can all just work it out."

Toshiro brought up a very fair point he hadn't even considered. How did the makers of Digimon figure the whole series out? Did they discover Digimon themselves, or did the creation of Digimon create /their/ world? But that didn't feel right, Digimon can't have existed as a franchise for much longer than thirty years at most, and that was pushing it. He should put research into the timeframe when he had the time and resources. "The accuracy they hold is rather frightening, now that I consider it. Those cards, they have pictures very much matching the reality on our side. 'Tis too accurate to be a convenient coincidence."
"... I heavily doubt they could've created us, though. Ghk. They must've found out about our world, somehow. The history of the digital world can go back by hundreds of years at the very least through oral tradition of which I have heard, 'tis impossible to only have come to existence from..." He took a sip of his tea and tried to calm himself down. He had no reason to work himself up over this matter, especially when he was having guests over. He bowed his head down in apology and closed his eyes. "My apologies for getting so heated. 'Tis unbecoming of me as your host to get so heated over a matter which we cannot solve."
He decided to try and change the subject to the coexistence of Digimon and humans, since the two seemed supportive of the idea. Chousen coughed and shrugged his shoulders. "I have taken to noticing that humans and digimon do share many similarities when it comes to emotions and living, but I think the cultural differences are rather stark, along with the norms and such. I do not think humans go around attempting to kill and take the flesh of others unto them." Sip, sip. His cup is almost empty, so he places it down to save that last little bit of tea for a more authoritative final sip, taking a biscuit instead and crunching down on it after slipping it behind the grate of his mask.
"It'd take a lot of work, especially when digimon appearing right now would only spread panic. Someone of my size, or your partner's, is still acceptable... But I do not know how things would go if say, a MetalGreymon, tried to realize itself here." He knew how it'd go. The military would react and a city would get leveled before the bastard would truly go down, considering one shot from a MetalGreymon would be enough to level about half of it. That's just how these things go.Haru Toriya Toshiro Emiya

"Don't have to apologize, it ain't like you are wrong." It was extremely unlikely that humans had created Digimon. Copied from them, though? He could definitely see that. It wouldn't exactly be the first time a human obtained fame and fortune by copying (or stealing) something.
He was a bit curious about the oral tradition of the digimon. Would it be the same lore one could find on digimon through cards or collectibles? Or was there an entire culture for digimon that was completely unknown to tamers?
Toshiro simply snorted at Chousen. "Sure, not every human, but don't think there aren't any." There were all kinds of wackos around the world, and that wasn't even counting the groups of humans still trapped by their ancient traditions due to isolation from the rest of society.
"Tamers working together now is unlikely." If they had already formed gangs, it was likely that they all had different ideals and goals they upheld. It was a pity, but humans didn't often put the greater good before their own desires. He was no exception.
That aside, they were talking about perfect level digimon. Oh boy.
"Now wouldn't that be something else? What could we even do if one of those popped here?" Drop a nuke on it? Even if it killed it, it would kill everyone else as well.
"Huh. I wonder what the state of power is on these so called gangs. Do they all have champion digimon?" That had seemed like a common, easy to get form in the anime. Perfect though... that had been presented as a rare, practically unattainable form in the show. "Whoever gets a perfect digimon will probably control Tokyo, now that I think about it."
Assuming there weren't already a bunch of those running around anyways.

As many similiarities there were between humans and Digimon, Chousen was right that the differences were very stark. Perhaps too stark at times. "That's true. Unfortunately, I think people get scared about things they don't see as normal. And well, Digimon aren't normal in most people's eye." She'd reply, for a moment thinking about Tawna. "I mean, I care about Tawna... but there are things about her I am still unsure about. She's just so willing... to kill. To put her life on the line. It's hard to see things through her eyes still, and I've known her for a while now."Haru was almost positive that not many people had Digimon that could become Champion levels. Champion seemed like something that fortunately was not readily available. "I don't think they all do... I honestly don't think I've ever really seen a Champion level first-hand." She'd comment, gulping a bit of saliva as the conversation shifted about Perfect levels. Ultimate as Tawna called them. That was a terrifying thought. If Champions were capable of taking down buildings... would a Perfect level be able to take down cities? Casualties could be unavoidable if such a Digimon were to appear in the real world. Toshiro was chillingly right. A person wih a Perfect level could turn the city inside out. "If Champion levels are bad enough and Perfect level would be even worse, then that means one thing and one thing only... someone needs to get Perfect level before anyone evil does." She'd resolutely state, for a moment having a fiery look in her eye. Deep down however, she knew very well that she wasn't anyone special. She was just another nameless tamer among hundreds probably. This wasn't an anime. She wasn't some protagonist or anything like that. She was just someone who tried to care about people, nameless or not. "... Sorry, I'm just thinking with my heart first than my brain." She'd apologize, looking down at her still warm tea. "The more I think about things, the more I get worried for everyone. My family, the city... this world. I don't want any of them to get hurt."

"Let us then go with the assumption that no-one has achieved a perfect level just yet. I am fairly sure we would know by now if someone had... Which raises the question, is anyone attempting to? Is that the goal of anyone? The best way to reach such a high level of power would be to try and absorb as much data as possible as fast as one can. But, I have not heard of anyone who's actively hunting down digimon to consume them for their data, and I've been here for a few weeks now. Then again, I am lacking in the connections necessary to have ready access to such information. The best I have is the old man and the people I happen to meet at night."
His hand is lifted to grab the cup after he finishes up his cookie, fingers wrapping around it as he stares down at the still very slightly steaming liquid, eyes furrowed. A perfect digimon would create so much chaos and destruction it'd be almost unimaginable, something so unheard of. He had seen what one could do when the Asuramon who killed his master came by. Someone or something like that rampaging through the digital world was already destructive, but here, without many digimon to combat such a threat? Someone who had the power of a perfect digimon had the power to control the city from the shadows easily. While the government could easily rule in name, in truth, the gang with the perfect digimon could rule the streets.
"The best we can do in a situation like this is to ask around and keep our eyes open. I've been planning on starting a research project of sorts for a while now. 'Tis as good of a time as any to get it on the road." Chousen takes his last authoritative sip, placing the now empty cup back down onto the table, leaning back in his seat. The very tip of his tail tamps against the wooden floor of the Oyecomova's back room door once in a while. "I'll begin asking partners who I meet on how exactly they encountered their partners, and how such a pact was made. Perhaps I can find some clue as to how this pact-making and realization unto your world works."
He looks from Haru to Emiya. "And in turn, I'd like to ask for thy assistance... Minor, if any, of course. I'd simply like for thy to keep your eyes and ears open. If you hear anything that might connect to this possible threat of someone vying for the perfect digimon, I'd simply like to hear about it. To sate my own curiosity. Gogglehead tried to assure him there likely weren't too many champions running around, but frankly, she had admitted earlier she had only been at this for like a week. That was simply not nearly enough time to meet every single tamer in Tokyo, much less the entirety of japan.
"Before someone evil, huh?" He didn't often relate the word 'evil' to real people. There were corrupted people for sure, but he found the word a bit childish; or perhaps, he just hadn't met someone wicked enough to deserve it yet?
"Well, if getting to perfect is anything like in the show, I don't think we'll have to worry about it anytime soon." Perfect evolution was supposed to be something rare and practically unobtainable through regular means. There were was no Deus Ex Machina in the real world that could give a tamer the evolution out of nowhere, so they were probably safe for a good while.
He hoped.
"How the... 'pact', was made?" That was an interesting way of wording it. Even if Toshiro hadn't been lying about his status as a tamer, he would have been hard pressed to tell Chousen how it happened.
It hadn't seem like a conscious decision on his or KoKabuterimon's part at the time.
"I can do that." He commented. Or at least, he hoped. The tamers he had met tonight seemed like nice folk, but it had only been two, so who knew? "I'll make sure keep my eyes and ears sharp. With any luck, the tamers I run into will be as friendly as the ones from tonight."
He settled his empty tea cup onto the table, his arm reaching to hold the side of his neck as he stretched it to the side, air pockets popping soundly once again. "It's getting a bit late, huh?" He noted, pulling back the long sleeves of his jacket to take a look at a watch.
Digital and nerdy, of course, to complete the fanny-pack and slippers ensemble.

"I'll be glad to help! It's the least I can do for your hospitality." Haru was thrilled to hear Chousen asking for a bit of help, something she showed no hesitation in volunteering for such. How were people becoming tamers in the first place? It was something she wanted to know too, and helping a new friend out was just icing on the cake. "I want to know why some people are becoming partners with Digimon, and not others. Is it just luck ya think? Or something like fate?"Regardless, it seemed they finally had a plan! They'd have an easier time finding out info if they searched over a wider area. The girl looked in her bag, pulling out a sheet of paper and pencil. Tearing it in half, she quickly jotted down two sets of numbers and passed them to both Toshiro and Chousen. "Aight then! Here's my phone number if you guys want it. If ya guys ever hear anything juicy or need help with something, I'll be up to talk or help!"Regardless, Toshiro was right that it was getting mighty late now. Getting up from her chair, the girl took a stretch before pushing it back in. "Well, I think it may be time I gotta to head home. It about Tawna's bedtime, and I can't leave Tawna on her own for too long normally, else she'll get into trouble." She'd state. As sociopathic as the dog Digimon could act at times, they were in a way still a kid. And just like a regular human kid, they tended to get cranky if they didn't get to go to bed.
