Ueno, Hinata

Hinata is a rather difficult person on the get-go. Often sarcastic and condescending, the words that come out of his mouth are naturally unfiltered and obnoxious despite his conscious effort not to get too crude with his speech. It takes too long for him to warm up to others either, with him treating everyone with just enough interaction to give what's needed of him or to see what makes them tick. He prioritizes his interests above anyone else's as well. Who else could love him more than himself, after all?

Going deeper, Hinata is a sentimental person beneath the unruly exterior. He gets easily attached to things that managed to hold his interest, often in the form of gifts but not limited to them. Although he has a pessimistic outlook in life, he often finds himself working hard for the things that matters to him. He knows that he is far from being perfect or the best thing there is out there. Embracing the fact, he decided to simply enjoy the present instead of dealing with a subpar future he knows he'll have compared to others.

Despite his shortcomings, Hinata proves to be responsible of his actions. He knows what he's getting into before acting and knows the boundery of his capabilities. While he could act childish and lax, he knows when to act his age and mature up. As far as records are concerned, he has yet to do anything that could mar his reputation.

Hinata grew up knowing he won't be as special as others. He did not excel in anything he tried, whether it be academics, sports or even gaming. He didn't have any special backstory found in most popular shows either, being born in a completely normal family and an only child with financially stable parents. His childhood was uneventful either, though he couldn't exactly complain about it. He resented it for a while, though he eventually was thankful for having a normal childhood instead of a main character's trauma-inducing backstory.

What he didn't have for pure skills, he made up for his dedication and effort. Despite the way he acts and how he looked like a delinquent at a glance, he maintained a good grade average at school. He didn't care for the recognition that being on the top of the list gave, though he did enjoy the attention it brought to him. Somehow he felt special at this one thing he thought he was good at, though good things unfortunately come to an end.

Come middle school, a new student had transferred to his class, and surprise, surprise; it turned out to be some natural genius. Hinata couldn't handle his defeat at first, sacrificing time spent with friends to cram more information to his mind. Relationships he had prior deteriorated as he tried to beat the competition, but to no avail. By the time he graduated in high school, he burned out and simply gave up trying to be on the top. He grew more relaxed as time went on, though he did keep his bad social habits.

It was during his first year in the university that he found his digivice and his partner Digimon. He had not been a fan of the games beforehand, though he did have general knowledge about them, being a popular franchise and all. Clueless of what to do in his situation, he decided to just roll with it and see what happens next.
