Though, a strong heart and stronger jaw aren't everything. What he boasts in charisma, he lacks in true self confidence. Tetsuyo can be described in two words: Absolute. Idiot. He believes that nothing can stand in his way as long as he believes in himself and pushes forward. He has total belief in his exertion of manliness, and if anyone questions it he will break his bones ten times over to prove them wrong. While he isn't the brightest tool in the shed, the young man has an extremely bright outlook on life and is willing to do what it takes to gain the acceptance of those around him. Now 16, Tetsuyo has fallen behind in his grades somewhat but has developed a healthy relationship with his landlord, Hayate Itou. The two of them wake every morning for breakfast which they swap days on preparing, as well as eating dinner together every night (always prepared by Hayate's wife, Michi). However, there is one small detail which the boy has not found a way to be up front about with the man: the Tentomon he's been allowing to live in the shed. A gang known as the Shinjuku Busters has taken interest in the tamer as well, inducting him into their number. He's not exactly been quiet when forced to confront wild ones, and it's a wonder no one has piped up about his antics already, truth be told, but he does his duties well and tries to act almost as an older brother to others in the gang.

Tetsuyo was born in Kyoto, Kyoto to parents in no position to raise him. Father yet to make it through university, mother only working in her own father's bakery. Amassing debt was a harsh reality for the family, and it eventually caught up with them. At the age of 13, Tetsuyo lost his parents to the Yakuza. At 14 he was moved to Tokyo after being deemed mentally stable enough to care for himself as a forced tenant until completing his schooling.
