[attr="class","info_num"] 01. | [attr="class","info_head"] TAMERS |
[attr="class","info_text"] Tamers are the most common type of character seen on Digimon - Unity, and probably the most familiar to all Digimon fans. A Tamer is a human whom has stumbled upon a Digivice (specifically a D-Power of Digimon Tamers fame) and a single Digimon partner. While it is unknown as to what circumstances cause a human to become a Tamer, and for what purpose, Tamers are free to decide their own destiny and carve a spot for themselves in the world.
[break][break]
Tamers come in nearly all shapes and sizes, though most are situated in Japan, with a particularly high volume in Tokyo. Tamers tend to gain their Digivice and partner anywhere from the ages of 8 to 25. This not absolute, just a typical age range. Additionally, most Tamers appear to be in a transitional point in their life (i.e. puberty) or are generally during a period where they are maturing emotionally.
[break][break]
All Tamers start out with:[break]
- 500 Bytes[break]
- D-Power[break]
- Three random cards[break]
- One free single move (any affinity except Absolute) using up to 50 bytes of Rank 0 effects.[break]
- 25 Ability Score points for the Tamer[break]
- One free use of the "Special Ability" tag to first ability for Ability Crafting[break]

[attr="class","info_text"]The D-Power Digivice is a Tamer's most valuable possession and is extremely powerful in the right hands. Without it, most of the typical advantages Tamer Digimon have over wild Digimon are forfeit.
[break][break]
• The D-Power's primary function is access to the powerful Digi-Modify function -- known more colloquially as card swiping! This is the act of weaponizing Digimon Hyper Coliseum cards in order to apply powerful buffs, modifiers or even grant partner Digimon access to normally inaccessible attacks. More info will follow in the next section.
[break][break]
• The D-Power can be used to scan Digimon, revealing information about them. As Tamer Rank goes up, more information becomes accessible to the user through this process.
[break][break]
• The D-Power also has a compass/radar function, able to easily track down the Tamer's partner Digimon if needed. Additionally, it will also alert the user of bio-emerging Digimon breaching into the real world nearby, though it is incapable of tracking Digimon that have already successfully emerged. Such a small window must be seized with near-immediacy.
[break][break]
• Finally, the D-Power gives the user manual control over Digivolving their partner to levels above Rookie level, usually by slashing a Blue/Virtue/Vice card provided they have fulfilled the appropriate quest for such. It is said that it can also aid another form of Digivolution, known only as Biomerge Digivolution, where Tamer and Digimon become one unified being; but such a power has never been observed.

[attr="class","info_text"] Tamers, can once per turn, slash a card through their Digivice's card reader to activate the effects listed on the card, though there are limitations:
[break][break]
• Individual cards cannot be re-used in a thread without a duplicate copy.
[break][break]
• A Tamer can also only bring into a thread with them a deck of 15 cards. This deck must be predetermined in your first post when joining or creating a thread.
[break][break]
• A Tamer can only normally swipe a certain number of these 15 cards in a single thread. Dungeons and events may stipulate different rules. For the amount you can swipe in a thread, check the Ranking section below.
[break][break]
A little more information about cards and where to acquire them; cards are an integral part of Digimon : Unity's combat and development systems -- the Tamer who does not opt to use them is a foolish one indeed! At the time of opening, we have over 150 cards, and expect that amount to skyrocket in the coming months. We will always, always be adding more new cards. Some will be purchasable for limited amounts of time, some will be unique event or dungeon rewards, and some may even be unique to your character if you are lucky enough!
[break][break]
The practice of trading or buying cards with other members is not only allowed but heavily encouraged on Digimon : Unity! It's often possible to roll duplicate cards, as well -- and you whilst may use duplicates in your 15-card deck, you can also trade these to obtain full collections.
[break][break]
Card tournaments will be held relatively often, and you can hold your own if you so please -- individual duels or member-managed tournament brackets with a pre-determined prize out of one member's card roster, or even wagering certain cards is perfectly allowed here on Unity.
[break][break]
Just remember not to overlook this incredibly useful mechanic!

[attr="class","info_num"] 06. | [attr="class","info_head"] SPIRIT |
[attr="class","info_text"] Spirit is a special statistic exclusive to human Tamers. It cannot be raised normally like other stats, and every Tamer begins with no points in this statistic. It also cannot go above 30, or below -30.
[break][break]Spirit represents your character's heart, and their bond with their partner. Staff will decide when you gain or lose Spirit points depending on your involvement with certain plot activities, and upon reviewing personal plot -- speak to a staff member if you believe your character has experienced events in a thread necessary to gain or lose Spirit. One can also draw the extremely rare Spirit Card in a pack, which can be swiped and lost to gain or destroyed to lose one point of Spirit.
[break][break]
Positive Spirit: The greater your Spirit value, essentially, the 'better' you are. Whilst not necessarily a gauge of personality, Spirit does assess, deep down, your morality. The higher your Spirit, the more rewarding and emotionally stable the bond with your partner. It also affects your ability to maintain advanced Digivolution stages, as shown below.[break][break]
- 0 - 5 Spirit: Can hold Champion stage for 3 posts, Ultimate stage for 2 posts, and Mega stage for 1 post.[break]
- 5 Spirit: Can hold Champion stage for 5 posts, and Ultimate stage for 3 posts.[break]
- 10 Spirit: Can indefinitely hold Champion stage, and Ultimate stage for 4 posts.[break]
- 15 Spirit: Can hold Ultimate stage for 5 posts, and Mega stage for 2 posts.[break]
- 20 Spirit: Can hold Ultimate stage indefinitely, and Mega Stage for 3 posts.[break]
- 25 Spirit: Can hold Mega stage for 5 posts.[break]
- 30 Spirit: Can hold Mega stage for 7 posts. [break][break]
Negative Spirit: The lower your Spirit value, the 'worse' you are. Again, not a gauge of personality -- but a representation of moral decisions. Abuse your partner, friends, family, other individuals, and generally go around being a scumbag or bastard, and this will decrease. Generally, negative Spirit implies a manipulative, destructive, or abusive relationship with one's partner, but it may be that you're just a terrible influence on one another. Just as positive Spirit affects how long Digivolution stages can be maintained, negative Spirit affects how long Dark Digivolution stages can be maintained. Obtaining -5 or less spirit is known as a Turn of Heart, which is considered the point where your Tamer will start down a darker path. After this point, it will be harder for your character to obtain positive Spirit.

- -5 to 0 Spirit: Can hold Dark Champion stage for 3 posts, Dark Ultimate stage for 2 posts, and Dark Mega stage for 1 post.[break]
- -5 Spirit: Can hold Dark Champion stage for 5 posts, and Dark Ultimate stage for 3 posts.[break]
- -10 Spirit: Can indefinitely hold Dark Champion stage, and Dark Ultimate stage for 4 posts.[break]
- -15 Spirit: Can hold Dark Ultimate stage for 5 posts, and Dark Mega stage for 2 posts.[break]
- -20 Spirit: Can hold Dark Ultimate stage indefinitely, and Dark Mega Stage for 3 posts.[break]
- -25 Spirit: Can hold Dark Mega stage for 5 posts.[break]
- -30 Spirit: Can hold Dark Mega stage for 7 posts.
[break][break]Spirit also has a special function. Spirit can be spent to change the outcome of a dice roll, either adding to, or subtracting from it, dependent upon which value the player requires. This essentially allows one to save their life by spending these points. However, when Spirit is spent, it must be spent in entirety. This resets a character's Spirit to 0, and severely damages their mind, resulting in them losing 1 point to every statistic other than Spirit as well.
[break][break]
[break][break]Spirit represents your character's heart, and their bond with their partner. Staff will decide when you gain or lose Spirit points depending on your involvement with certain plot activities, and upon reviewing personal plot -- speak to a staff member if you believe your character has experienced events in a thread necessary to gain or lose Spirit. One can also draw the extremely rare Spirit Card in a pack, which can be swiped and lost to gain or destroyed to lose one point of Spirit.

[attr="class","info_text"] When a partner Digimon and a Tamer are joined together with the latter's unbreakable Spirit, often in moments of terror or strain, and when a card is swiped, a partner Digimon may undergo a process known best as Digivolution, to reach a new form and become stronger.[break][break]
Characters must have already purchased the desired form before undergoing Digivolution.[break][break]
- Champion: Requires a Blue Card, though this stage can happen without; in an extreme situation, staff may intervene and manually Digivolve your partner. Blue Cards can be found through a certain quests, or crafted with a Blank Card and 750 Bytes. You only need one Blue Card to Digivolve to Champion, even if you have purchased multiple Champion forms. Champion forms cost 500 Bytes.[break][break]
- Ultimate: Requires either a Virtue Card or a Vice Card, which are obtained through special character-crafted dungeons. These cards cannot be crafted, as they symbolize a revolution or dynamic change in your character's self. You only need one Virtue Card to Digivolve to Ultimate, even if you have purchased multiple forms. The same goes for Dark Digivolving with a Vice Card. You must be at least Veteran Rank to Digivolve to Ultimate. Ultimate forms cost 1500 Bytes.
[break][break]
- Mega: It is unknown how to obtain Mega, other than acquiring enough data. It is said that when a Tamer obtains Mega stage, they and their Digimon become one. You must be Legendary Rank to digivolve to Mega. Mega forms cost 3000 Bytes.

[attr="class","info_text"] Dark Digivolution often happens to tamers when they push their partner in the wrong way, forcing a negative reaction and the temporary creation of a monster. During Dark Digivolution, a Digimon's data becomes corrupted and their personality completely changes for the worst - either bringing out their worst qualities and silencing the good ones, or turning them into a totally mindless beast. [break][break]While Dark Digivolution can happen to anybody at random, through mistreatment of Digimon, some Tamers actually actively look to harness this type of Digivolution by gaining negative Spirit points - which is the only way where it can be willingly used.
When a Digimon is pushed the wrong way and attempts to Digivolve, staff may intervene and intercept the Digivolution. In this case, staff will Dark Digivolve your Digimon for a number of posts chosen by them and take control of them for that duration.
Dark forms can be purchased the same as normal forms. Staff may choose a form for you to use temporarily if you have not purchased one and your Digimon undergoes Dark Digivolution.
