the judge, jury, Japan was in a rather uneasy state these days with the recent set of news about the disaster at Tenno Towers. Holographic projectors, Digi-Modify card game. All details of course used to wipe out the more important truths about the incident to the general public. Of course though, Haru knew about the truth... and there was no hiding that someone died there. Her parents appropriately enough had went apeshit at her for having been around the building in question. Given, yes... it was out of familial love; but it didn't excuse that she WAS there for those events. She was glad at least the Greymon situation earlier was handled, but she couldn't help but feel... involved about the bomb part of the set of disasters. Fuckin', she even knew the guy who did it! She SAW him have Kyubimon take the bomb away from the area. Somehow, she couldn't help but feel part of the act... even if she was in no shape to have assisted him in the endeavor at the time. America was too hardcore. The gogglehead girl was at the moment sitting at a table outside one of the local coffee shops, attempting to try to clear her mind with some coffee and some graham crackers she packed for herself from back home. Mid-Afternoon break from volunteer work. Haru slipped a cracker down her backpack laying by her feet, a Nyaromon peeking slightly out and snatching it with it's maw before hiding back in the bag. She had a headache. There was just too many events happening lately that it was frankly becoming difficult to try to live a normal life. Her studies at school were already failing, and she was becoming more reclusive towards her family. She'd also have said her social life was down the drain, but she didn't exactly have one to begin with. It was somewhat hard to these days when you had to deal with hiding a very rambunctious Digimon from the general eye all the time. At least Tawna in Nyaromon form was easy to conceal. It was one of the advantages to them having had the shit beat out of them... Tawna had way less energy to be a potential problem at the moment. Good thing too, cause Haru was unsure if she wanted for there to be more problems at the moment.

These past few days had been the most boring days of his life.
He had actually been forced to work his ass off, not to mention subtly advertise, in order to get more money out of his pantreon. He didn't usually need money, and he had quite the considerable amount of cash stashed into his paypal account, but unfortunately, he couldn't stay at home anymore.
Not because he feared Tenno's goons coming for him, but because he knew his parents would probably kick him out or give him up to the authorities after being so publicly declared a terrorist.
He had rented a cheap motel under a fake name. He could have gone for an actual apartment, but he hadn't amassed quite enough money to get one worth crap. A cheap motel near a computer cafe allowed him to continue his work undeterred.
He was on his way to said Computer Cafe in fact. His backpack was heavy with his laptop and his partner's in training form inside.
On his way, however, he caught sight of a familiar face sitting outside of another cafe.
He hadn't seen Gogglehead since shit had hit the fan with Captain Canada. He hadn't spoken with her since their little stint as the Scooby-Do gang.
He hadn't heard her name mentioned when Tenno pronounced him and Red as terrorists, but for all he knew, she was on a suspect list and talking to her would shine a spotlight on him.
Who cared though? It was just Tenno and the busters. A murder had gone right under their noses inside their own building and they hadn't been the wiser. You couldn't find more incompetent enemies if you tried.
Plus the Googlehead was a bit dull in the head. Toshiro was curious to see if she would recognize him.
He liked to think his brown hair dye and spanking new sporty clothes made him unrecognizable to anyone who had only heard how he looked, but what about people who had actually seen him before? This was as good a time to find out as any.
Reaching behind him into one of his backpack's many side pockets, the now brunette produced a simple deck of 30 cards, much different from the ones he usually slashed. KoKabuterimon wouldn't leave his original home without them.
He approached the girl casually, doing a few, meaningless parlour tricks with the cards as he spoke to her.
"Hey there." He started casually, "I was wondering if you were into Digi-Modify? Was going to the computer cafe for a few matches, but you are way easier on the eyes than those guys."
His partner chose that moment to climb out of his backpack, looking... almost exactly like a real life Japanese Rhinoceros beetle.
Goddamn it. Roll with it.
"Don't mind the little guy, it's my pet beetle. Don't worry, it doesn't fly around or bite. Not often anyways."

The days after what happened at the Busters Tower had been very tense. What was supposed to be his first exposure to the tamer life was disturbed: first by a murder, second by a battle, and last by a bomb scare.Hideo was lucky that he managed to keep his involvement a secret from his parents. They were aware that he had been in the area, and his siblings got an earful for letting him anywhere near it, but as far as they knew, it was just a card tournament that he was observing. Just as the news broadcast said it was.
The same news broadcast that accused Toshiro and Kasumi of being the ones responsible for the bomb. What followed was extensive questioning from his eldest brother, Naoki, about the former. Hideo had been honest, giving him what he knew: he seemed nice, he knew what digimon were, and he had no idea if Toshiro had a digimon of his own. And that he couldn't possibly have been the person that was responsible for the bomb.
He was warned that if he ever met the guy again, he was to contact Naoki immediately.
It had been some time since they had that talk, and at the moment, Hideo was sitting at a cafe with his sister, Nep. He hadn't expected her to invite him to a cafe out of the blue, and he hadn't expected her to request he bring Kuki along as well, but with the way she worded it, she must have wanted to discuss something with him. Probably concerning what happened at the tournament, but it was always a toss-up with her.
Before their conversation could get anywhere, she seemed to excuse herself for some reason, promising she'd be back in just a moment. For a private call, she said. Something she seemed to be getting a lot of recently, though he didn't pay much mind to them. This just left Hideo alone at the table, with a cup if hot cocoa in his hand and a small, pink in-training spider discreetly laying on his lap, halfway through eating a bagel.
A jolt ran through his body when he heard a very familiar voice ring out from behind him. He nearly spilled his drink, and his sudden jump nearly squished Kuki into the bottom of the table. "You almost made me drop my food!" the spider exclaimed, briefly popping out from his lap to look around for whatever scared her tamer.
Hideo was quick to keep her from getting too far, holding her down with his free hand. "I...I think I just heard Toshiro," he muttered, eliciting a short pause from his partner. But the moment her hesitation ended, she wiggled out of his hold, dropping the bagel on his lap while she peeked through a space in the back of the chair.
"I dunno if that's him..." Kuki muttered back, "Last time I checked, he was a blonde. And he dressed in much baggier clothes than that. And it looks like she's talking to some girl...I think I saw her during that fight in that alleyway."
Hideo remained silent, instead choosing to eavesdrop on the two as they'd continue. Even if Kuki said he didn't look like Toshiro, he just sounded so similar to him. He had to hear him talk again, to make sure he wasn't just hearing things. Haru Toriya Toshiro Emiya » made by wizzCards: 6 Swipes Remaining. Coffee shops like this one had a certain charm about them. This was the immediate pondering of a man with radiant golden hair, who sat meters away from the two chatting youths while he typed methodically at the keys of a matte black laptop stationed before him.
Hidden behind the spreadsheets he had been constructing since early morning were a few open web pages detailing Tenno Industries' growing list of financial hiccups, no doubt caused by that tragic blunder of a card tournament and the unfortunate 'hologram malfunction'.
Not that he bought a word of it, though. In a way, he shared quite a bit in common with these two youngsters, so clearly disenfranchised with the false veneer of nobility that corporate tyrant Masao Tenno seemed to project over the news.
Of course, Sterling Midas was no mind reader, so whether or not his perceptions of the two were accurate was entirely up for debate. But one does not simply ignore the morning news so readily when a major business executive declares the capture of two particular individuals.
One of whom, conveniently enough, sat right before his very eyes.
He motions quietly to a passing waitress for another round of espresso, all while carefully studying the two youths with coy glances.

Haru Toriya Toshiro Emiya Hideo Kino Sterling Midas The coffee shop everyone was at was a decent one-- though not with the same class or style as her 'uncle's' shop. He had a more refine talent for brewing home-made coffee oppose to the triple-grande-low-fat-double-shot-whatchamecallits of coffee that were so popular now. Personally, she preferred just hot chocolate with the fall that was now upon them. Shino simply was taking the time here to study after she got out of school for the day. This shop was on her way home and she liked to relax in the comfy ambiance of the coffee shop, snack on a bear claw, and do her homework before returning home-- or going to the Web Trooper HQ. She didn't know anyone else here... ... of course, she couldn't go anywhere without someone she knew watching her six. In short, a certain playful digimon with the skill to camouflage like a pro gurella soldier. Her digimon, Commandramon, was a mesh of pixilated colors that blended into his surroundings, and now he hid behind a large plant against a wall overlooking Shino, along with the other people who was there. As Shino sat there and studied, her own cards were on the table as well, mostly for her using them as bookmarks for key points. She had her own unorthodox means of keeping her thoughts together. As she listened to everything going around, she did remember the wanted notice and the news that happened about the Busters. She felt neutral on it, but the idea of a bounty reward tempted her. Still, she didn't know yet that these people there, were among the suspects that were considered involved. Not yet anyway. As Shino sipped her hot chocolate and finished her history homework, COmmandramon got curious at the sensation of Digimon nearby. Slowly he peeked, and found the little mechanical insect Digimon, and a ball-ish cat sticking out of a bag. "Psst! Psst..." Commandramon hissed in their direction, trying to get the digimon's attention. Hopefully they would sense him too... ... even though Commandramon appeared to be a military looking digital dinosaur-- even he wanted to have fun as any rookie Digimon would.

the judge, jury, As the girl idled, blankly staring at her surroundings... a young man shuffling fancily what could be identified as Digi-Modify cards came up to her, asking if she was interested in the game. "Oh... err, I actually don't know how to play the card game? I do have cards though." She'd state, still somewhat shocked that someone would just talk to her like this; let alone be mentioning Digimon. Given, just the card game... but damn, it was hard to look at it quite the same way now that she was more or less weaponizing those pieces of cardboard. She pulled out her own deck of cards, briefly showing them to the brown-haired man. "What? Are your friends just ugly?" She'd add on, failing to grasp the young man's smooth attempt at flirting. For a moment, she couldn't help but be... suffering from a bit of deja vu? She couldn't help but feel like this man looked like someone she knew... but that may have just been her mind pulling tricks on her. While she couldn't exactly pin just whom they looked like, she knew that mentioning something like that would just come off as weird. Fuckin' hell, sometimes she wished she only had to talk to tamers these days. Keeping up the facade that absolutely nothing wrong or weird about her was sometimes difficult. For a moment she was at a loss for words. Her mind was blank as she saw a small beetle crawl out of the young man's bag. Pet... beetle? Man, people had weird tastes in pets. Then again, guess she kinda had a weird taste in pets too if you counted Tawna as one. "Oh. My pet kinda bites a little too. She's... a cat." She'd comment, she for a moment glancing down at her bag; the glaring eye of a Nyaromon peeking out of the slightly opened zipper hole. Oh man, that was gonna bite her in the ass later... figuratively and/or literally. Then again, she wasn't technically lying there. Tawna did bite. Hard. "I guess I just... kinda got caught up with the card game? Some of the cards are pretty-looking, so I just kinda took to collecting them." She'd say as she showed off *Cursed Claws* to the man, whose art showcased a pair of dark-blue gauntlets with razor-sharp red talons attached. Given, it was just an excuse... but a believable one at least to most folks. She was for the most focused on the young man, not noticing that perhaps others are listening on to the conversation. As Haru was busy chatting it up with the newcomer, Tawna for a moment peeked her face out of the bag; having just earlier heard a distinct whistling sound. While not fully out of the bag, a trained eye would likely be able to least catch a glimpse of her red eyes. The sound belonged to a heavily camouflaged Commandramon whose only defining giveaway was a faint outline, they seemingly trying to get her attention. Tawna only seemed to coldly stare at the Rookie level, not daring to move out of the bag. It wasn't completely that she was distrustful to all Digimon (though more so than humans), but also that she didn't want to dare risk her presence being noticed by a general eye. She wasn't a terribly intelligent Digimon, but she wasn't reckless.

She was as slow on the uptake as he would have expected.
Once again, his attempts at half hearted flirting failed, the banter flying right over the brunette's head. He did not know why he even bothered trying with the goggle head.
"No, that's not what I-" It was pointless. "Never mind. So! Don't know how to play the game? Well, that's easily fixed. It's a really simple card game."
The rules of the game were simple enough to guide the girl through the steps. He explained the basic rules, the different fields, the different types of cards and their use, the different stages of a turn...
He was rather distracted as he did, however. He could recite these rules in his sleep. It gave him a chance to take in their surroundings in the meanwhile.
He was mostly just searching for a waiter. Was he supposed to actually go in and order every time he wanted something? Absolutely barbaric.
He failed to find a waiter, though that was not to say he hadn't found other interesting sights. For example, that was most definitely Hideo sitting sitting a couple of tables behind Haru.
Considering how high he had jumped before, he had probably heard Toshiro. Ah well, he was a nice kid. They were biker buddies and all that junk. He would probably not sell him out.
There were other people sitting around them, including a blonde man that made the now brunette miss his old blonde hair dye, and a girl with radical, soft green hair. Man, people were just killing it with the hair dye these days, and here he was forced to use Boring Brown.
"It's a cat, I would be surprised if it didn't bite." He was fairly certain cats were the spawn of the devil. Specially if that was sunshine dog in there.
He hadn't seen that card yet. He decided to show her one of his own cards in return, showing her one with the image of a large, two handed sword.
"Yeah, the art on some of these is great." he said, "Some is pretty shit, tho. Have you seen the poop toss card?"
KoKabuterimon ignored the digimon trying to get his attention, doing whatever he could to not look in its direction. In his current form, he was a picture perfect Japanese Rhinoceros beetle, and he would not drop cover.
The small beetle moved to slip inside his partner's high collar, the young man's skin crawling slightly as his partner's little legs touched his bare skin.
"Man, I hate when he does that. Guess it got too chilly for him or something?" Said the lad to the gogglehead,
"So anyways," He suddenly flipped a coin, humming to himself, "Seems like I go first." He said, flipping his monster card to reveal a Renamon. "Huh. We haven't even exchanged names and I'm already teaching you how to play. Better fix that."
"I'm Kiritsugu Kotomine. Pleasure." He lied with a friendly smile as he reached his hand over the table, offering a friendly handshake to the girl.

Eavesdropping on the two revealed quite a bit. The guy's voice definitely reminded him of Toshiro, even though he had a much different name. The girl, he didn't recognize her voice at all, though the boy had to choke back laughter when she responded so bluntly to the guy's attempted flirting. Did she really take it at face value like that? Even Hideo caught on to it.
"See anything else?" he asked his partner, having already resigned to just letting her move around him to get a view of the area - so long as she didn't go above the table.
"Mystery man over there has a beetle crawling around him," she stated, "and I think I saw something peek out of that girl's bag. Can't say if either are digimon or not, but the girl's was looking at something that's definitely a digimon."
"Wait...there's a digimon out in the open?" That wasn't good. It was broad daylight, not to mention in a place that there were likely other people. He didn't want another KoKabuterimon situation.
Kuki's eyes were on the Commandramon. "Kinda. It's hard to tell what digimon it is, but it's camouflaged close by some green-haired girl. Best guess is a rookie. Honestly wouldn't have noticed him if he wasn't moving around or making any noise. Can't say if it's that girl's digimon, but she doesn't seem to be reacting to it at all...no clue who she is, but that digimon's been looking at their table for a while."
Hm. That didn't sound good. Chances are if that really was Toshiro, then there would be people looking for him. And there was a rookie digimon out there, hiding nearby, looking at them. Chances were high that this was one such hunter, on the lookout for Emiya.
Still, he wasn't entirely sure if this guy was Toshiro. He could have just been getting worried over someone he never met.
But he wouldn't learn that just from listening and secondhand accounts.
He pushed his seat back, standing up out of it. Kuki immediately froze up, both out of surprise with his sudden action and realization she had to play the part of a stuffed toy if she couldn't hide, and unfinished bagel still held by her front legs. Carefully, he walked towards where he heard the two talking. Both hands were occupied, one holding onto Kuki, the other holding onto his cup of cocoa. "Let me know when I'm close to them," he whispered.
Kuki wanted to scold him for doing something so brash, but kept her mouth shut. Carefully, with as little movement as possible, she tapped against him with her rear legs, helping to correct his course. Left leg to turn to the left, right leg to turn to the right.
And both legs to say he was close enough - which didn't take long. They were only a few tables away. Their little system was good enough that Hideo didn't bump into anything on his way over, though he would still look like he was stumbling around a little.
"Excuse me!" he said, a smile on his face, and more importantly, his brown eyes wide open to look more natural (though his unmoving eyes were bound to look unnatural - he didn't look directly at either of them, just staring blankly at the table). "I heard you were gonna play Digi-modify. You mind if I watch?"
Better to be close by in case anything went down.

As he continued to fabricate his spreadsheets and tweak the figures to represent his intended projections, Sterling takes the occasional glance at his surroundings. He smiles cordially as the waitress returns with espresso in hand, carefully studying the crowd as it grows bigger.
Two young boys and two little girls, chatting their lives away or pretending as if none of them had any real worth in the grand scope of things. As a billionaire himself, Sterling would have definitely agreed to such assessments with glowing enthusiasm — to what measure is a human life worth, when you own all that is worth owning?
Lifting the porcelain cup to his lips, Sterling finds himself taking notice of a few elements in his picturesque work setting, things that didn't quite sit well with an otherwise normal coffee shop.
Such as the boy's multi-colored stag beetle. And the small tufts of fur that peeked out from the bag of a girl wearing goggles. The blind child attempting to speak to them with a face full of table. Even a camouflaged dinosaur, whispering from what was meant to be a hiding spot.
Whether any of them knew it or not, they were putting on quite a performance for Sterling, who took humor in each little detail as he savored the bitter taste of his espresso with every sip. Eventually, though, the curtains must fall, and it was no different for this pitiful charade.
For now, the show must go on.

Hideo Kino Toshiro Emiya Haru Toriya Sterling Midas Shino had finished her work and was about to reach for her Bearclaw-- till she only found just crumbs, and heard the sound of munching below her. There she felt the bump against her leg from a scaly tail and she knew. "Commandramon..." she grumbled and gave a gentle kick. "Youch!" he said, causing the table to jump. This caused a small bit of concern from the patrons around, but SHino quickly adjusted herself, acting as if she had been the one to hurt herself. Casually, she returned to her book. Hopefully, no one could tell-- at least cause with Commandramon's camouflage body he could blend in. The only real way you could tell he was there was via looking at his eyes. However, she then noticed one thing-- a little boy walking. The slow pace he made seemed like he was having trouble. Though it was none of Shino's business, she tried to not pay any attention to him... but noticed how he nearly hit a nearby chair. Concerned, Shino got up to check on him-- but he somehow was able to guide himself. Was he blind, she thought, concerned. Deciding to check things out, she got up-- but otherwise ignored the blonde man completely. She really didn't care much for mr. handsome over there. Things got interesting though as she saw them all interacting with their cards. So they had the trading card game too. This was a good opportunity for her, to see if she could possibly offer some cards. "Excuse me?" she asked, curious. "I couldn't help you play Digimodify too... I have some extra cards I am looking to trade if you're interested?" Shino asked. She soon held up two Wargreymon Brave Shields, the third she kept with her. But she had no real need for the others. If they were willing to trade, she would like to see what she could get for them. Slowly, while others were not looking-- humans anyway-- Commandramon cautiously shifted towards them, hiding behing furniture and plants, but no doubt the digimon would soon see him, and probably want to know who he was. Even as Shino did her best to not draw attention to him, he was doing a good job of that on his own considering how silly he could be.

the judge, jury, All things considered, the card game didn't sound as difficult and complex once it was explained to her. Given, yeah it was a trading card game with a bunch of complex rules on what you could or could not do; but it was least not to the annoying extent of Yu-Gi-Oh. She could still taste her disappointment as a kid learning that cards like Curse of Dragon were apparently utter garbage according to professional players. "Shitty...? Ohhh, I'm like super slow." She'd reply to the lil' comment about shitty art, letting out a chuckle. Poop Toss was not a card she had heard about, but it was probably safe to assume it was kind of a crap card. Figuratively and literally. It sounded just as bad in the actual card game as it'd probably be in application in a real fight. Would Tawna throw her own shit to attack people? Somehow... she could almost believe that. "Must be kinda crappy, huh?" She'd chime in, snorting to herself innocently at her horrid sense of humor. Regardless, soon enough they began to try a trial match. Haru did have the sinking feeling that she was going to lose, as she doubted that her cards were actually even cohesive with one another. She kinda brought what she had in the case a Digimon-related emergency occurred, not for actually playing the card game they were intended for. Hell, she doubted what she had was enough to even properly play the game if she were in a tournament. She somewhat awkwardly played a card depicting a Palmon when it came to her turn. At least the two of them were starting to get along...? "Oh! Nice to meet you. Haru Toriya by the by."Turns out their little gathering seemed to attract some folks, a rather young boy who didn't even look to be out of Junior school and a emerald-haired girl (dye-d?). Both with an interest in cards, though she didn't exactly know how to respond to her attempt at peddling two Brave Shields. "I don't really know if I want to trade? I don't want to risk trading something away that may be... you know, valuable. Also I don't mind if you watch." She'd reply to the two, at least coming off sweetly as her match with Kiritsugu progressed. Likely not in her favor. Still, it was odd how many people here were interested in Digi-Modify. Was the game really that popular with regular people too? Or was there the possibility that one of them was in truth a tamer as well? Honestly, with how damn common it was to just find yourself chatting with other tamers these days... she wouldn't have been surprised if all three of them were tamers. Deciding to toss a line, the girl decided to maybe bring light to one of the most recent and biggest events in Japan at the moment. "Were you guys at the Digi-Modify tournament that mister Tenno hosted by chance too?" She'd ask, her eyes actually widening briefly as she struck gold in her head. It was only about then that she realized how genius that question was... If they WERE at the tournament, they'd have known its true nature of actually being a Digimon fighting tournament! Jesus, that would have made this so much less awkward if she knew at least someone was in the know. Still, for some reason... she couldn't help but feel like something was just off about the atmosphere of this quaint little tea cafe. Was it just her? Yeah, probably just her.

Toshiro smirked in response to Haru's equally terrible pun, leaning back. "Shh, careful there. You'll whip up a shit-storm if you keep saying that out loud; some people swear by the card's usefulness, ya know?"
Haru seemed to have gotten a good grasp of the rules, but still seemed uncertain as she played. If she had really just been collecting them by picking the ones she thought were cool, he couldn't blame her. It was possible she couldn't even evolve her rookie of choice.
If he had known a little game of Digi-Modify would attract this much attention, he would have just kept walking to the computer cafe.
The former blonde liked Hideo well enough, he was a nice kid and he had let Toshiro drive his super Rad motorcycle all around Tokyo. But Toshiro wasn't sure of how to react to him suddenly choosing to approach them.
While acting like he wasn't blind. Had he not recognized his voice? Or was he just hiding his inability from Haru?
"Sure thing, kid. Take a seat, we are just getting started." He responded amicably as he discarded a single card to the offline zone, before flipping over one of the cards in his digivolution area. It revealed a Kyuubimon, which he placed on top of his Renamon card. "Your move, gogglehead."
The girl with the radical light green hair came soon after Hideo. Unlike the boy, she wanted less to spectate, more to get rid of a couple of repeats, it seemed. She was offering a good pair of repeats, too!
"Man, those are kinda rare, actually." He commented, looking at the shields. "Unfortunately though, I don't have anything I'm willing to part with that is worth one of those." He informed the girl apologetically.
After a few seconds, Haru suddenly asked them if they had all been at the tournament. Well, it was as good a way as any to find out if they were tamers, he supposed.
"Honestly? No." He lied, "It's weird. This tournaments are supposed to be some kind of regular thing, but I can never find out when they are supposed to happen, and you only hear about them after they are already done. It's kind of annoying, since the prizes must be amazing. It's a tournament funded by friggin' Masao Tenno, of all people."

Alright, good. He made it all the way to the right table, and they were fine with him watching. At least, the guy was. The girl didn't seem to respond to him at all, instead a little preoccupied talking to someone else that approached them. Offering cards for a trade, it sounded. He might have been interested in taking a look at them, but he had other things to focus on right now.
Fortunately, he had little difficulty finding a chair to sit on. Seemed like all these tables had four chairs around them. It made the struggle of getting a seat with no free hands much, much simpler. He sat down, first placing Kuki on his lap so she'd get some freedom and security, then used his free hand to make sure he wasn't putting his cup on top of someone's cards.
Hideo did his best to look like he was following the game, looking at the others as they spoke. He really had no idea what they were doing, mainly because he had 0 idea how the game was even played. He did have a deck, yes, but that was solely for situations involving real-life digimon. He was completely unfamiliar with how card games like this were supposed to work; even if he knew a few card games, those were simple ones, like Uno or Poker. Not games where motorcycles could somehow give your cards a speed boost.
"Yeah," Hideo stated, "it was the first tournament I've been to. I didn't really get a chance to play anything there -" Namely because he didn't know how to, "- before some stuff happened there and I had to leave." Because someone got murdered. "And then there was that whole scare with the bomb...I'm just glad nobody else got hurt."
The bomb that Toshiro was accused of sending. Even though with the way the man acted, Hideo could only assume Eagleheart was the one responsible. But he recalled people screaming about the bomb in the alleyway, not at the tower. And that news broadcast said Toshiro and Kasumi confessed to sending the bomb there. It just didn't make any sense.
The only way he'd know was to get answers from Toshiro. If this even was Toshiro. He'd need to confirm this guy's true identity before he did anything that could get them in a lot of trouble.
He had to think: how could he signal to this guy in a way that it wouldn't look suspicious if his guess was wrong? Inspiration struck when he recalled that night out in the park, how he showed off a few of his cards while testing them out. He had a few of them still with him.
"Those are pretty good-looking cards," he said, completely unaware what those cards were and only going off of what the others were saying, as he took his deck out of his pocket. He kept it low under the table, fanning it out so only Kuki could see what he had with him. "I got a few neat cards I've been itching to try out. One's a pretty strong blade card, and the other one's a motorcycle. Together, they can make any digimom I play invincible!"
Kuki got the hint, quickly looking through his hand and pulling out the two cards he mentioned: the Ouryuken W and the Legendary Ride: Behemoth cards. She placed them on his lap, tapping him to signal she picked them out. He picked them up, moving them above the table so the others could see what he was talking about. "I wouldn't want to part with either of them!"

Ooh, how friendly. Sterling chuckles lightly as the green-haired girl snubs him without real cause, amused by how quick she was to judge a book by its cover. Fitting that her Digimon should be just as stupid and brainless.
But she was little more than a moth drawn to the flame, attracted by the prospect of social discourse over the popular Digi-Modify trading card game. Even the blind boy wished to partake in the festivities, still convinced that no one had caught on to his little ruse.
The affluent young businessman also had a few on his person, kept safely contained within a twelve-inch by eight-inch aluminum attache placed right beside his travel bag, right next to his feet. 'Just in case.'
And it would never have crossed his mind to share this collection -- that is, until the goggle-wearing child brought up a question regarding Tenno's failed tournament, which drew a shifty answer from the sightless boy himself, who even makes mention of a 'bomb scare'.
Putting the last touches on his financial projections, Sterling closes his computer carefully, stores it away inside the travel case, and slings the bag over his shoulder so that he can more easily pick up the reinforced card case.
"I wouldn't either, if I actually knew what I was holding." Sterling places emphasis on his comment as he rises to his feet, hoping the sudden change of tone would prod a reaction from the blind child, some kind of change in his mannerisms, even the slightest bead of sweat.
Sterling wanted the boy to know that he knew. And only he would be fully aware of the harrowing subtext.
As he closed in behind the boy, the billionaire would lean over gently to grab a better look at the two cards in his hand, then smile radiantly with feigned surprise.
"Well, color me shocked! I don't even have those cards, and I've been buying packs religiously." He turns to the group, practically glowing with interest in their conversation. "Are you kids collectors, too?"

Haru Toriya Toshiro Emiya Hideo Kino Sterling MidasIt seemed Shino was out of luck with her attempt to trade her duplicates, but she just shrugged. "I understand. Believe me I am not looking for anything super-important. I just don't see any value for me having duplicates of this card," she said still holding on to the two shields. The third was secure in the card pouch she had attached to her belt. Hideo actually had a far more interesting card that caught Shino's attention. The weapon card was far more interesting to her than the other one-- and she personally desired weapon cards over other types. With Commandramon being a digimon specializing in artillery, weapon cards she felt mesh more to him, along with terrain cards. That aside, her eyes showed more surprise to that. Of course, he said he wasn't going to trade them. "Honestly, I'm not surprised. That is a great card. I wouldn't trade it either if I were you..." She stopped as she soon saw the small spider-like creature. A digimon. She resisted the urge to scan it-- using her own digivice would be a big no in public. Still, she could tell it was a digimon by how odd the spider was and how the boy welcomed it on his body. She kept her composure and listened still. At the mention of the tournament, she shrugged. "I heard of it, though I didn't attend. School assignments and stuff like that," she said-- also not mentioning her affiliation to Web Troopers. Talking about the Busters was a touchy subject, but she chooses to not voice an opinion on the matter. It was then that blonde pretty-boy came around and started to talk to them. Shino only regarded him with a grumpy if somewhat defensive glare. She didn't like people like him. Sure, he was hot and probably someone most girls would dream about-- but she knew from personal experience. When something is too good to be true-- it usually is. People like him always had their own hidden agenda-- and was narcissistic. He took an interest in the cards too. Was he a tamer as well? But there was no way for Shino to tell. "I suppose I am a collector, yes..." From his hiding place, Commandramon let out a soft growl of discontent. From the way the blonde richboy was hovering close to the group, he began to feel jealous that he was trying to put a move on her. Still, Commandramon behaved for now and kept hidden in the shadows.
