[attr="class","info_text"]Welcome to Digimon : Unity. You've probably poked around a few of the information threads already to get to this point, and if you haven't, it is highly recommended that you do so before continuing on with character creation, simply to prevent any confusion about the site that you may have. We understand that there are a few complex systems, but it's really straightforward once you get there! This guide exists to help you understand everything a little better, as well as walk you through creating your first character.[break][break]
• STEP ONE: The first thing you should do is consider naming your character. Remember, the primary setting of this roleplay is Tokyo, Japan, so it would be easiest to give your character a Japanese name. However, this does not mean that foreigners do not move to or visit the city, and does not limit you to creating only Japanese characters. Name your character profile thread LAST NAME, FIRST NAME. DO NOT include any nicknames, titles, or anything else in your profile title. If added, they will be removed by staff and corrected to the proper format.[break][break]
• STEP TWO: The next step is to figure out what faction you want your character to be in, if any. This also determines which profile template you will be using. Make sure to use the appropriate faction template, not simply the one you like the most. Please remember: joining a faction after creation is not easy. You will have to wait until one has a promotion inviting loner tamers if you don't join at creation. It is easiest to join one at character creation, so if you're interested in one, just do it now. There are no benefits with starting as a loner tamer and later joining a faction, outside of personal story.[break][break]
• STEP THREE: You now get to choose one of three traits depending on which faction, if any, your character started in. Choose wisely, as you cannot change this later on, except in the event of becoming a loner tamer by leaving a gang (in which case your faction trait will be replaced by a loner trait) or joining a faction as a loner (in which case your loner trait will be replaced by a faction trait.) Regardless, your character will only ever have one trait at any given time.[break][break]
• STEP FOUR: Let's get the complicated stuff out of the way, right? Next let's fill out your character's ability scores, or as you may know them as, statistics. Your SPIRIT will always begin at 0. Now, other than that, you have 25 points to distribute between your other statistics. No statistic/ability score may be 0 or under (besides for Spirit) and thus each must have at least 1 point distributed to them. How you stat your character is entirely up to you.[break][break]
Now, if you're a Solo Digimon, things are a bit different for you. You only have 5 points to distribute amongst your statistics, and you have no Spirit score to worry about. However, unlike Tamers, you may have 0 in a statistic. This is because the 5 points you obtain are actually a boost to every form you have. Instead, write the values as a positive number (e.g. +1, +2) rather than a flat number. So, just to make things clear, Solo Digimon gain a boost to every form equal to the positive stats in their main profile.[break][break]
• STEP FIVE: Let's finish off the main profile now. Next up is your character's basic information, such as their personality and history. There is no word count here, as long as you write something that gives us a basic idea of your character.[break][break]
[break]
• STEP SIX: Let's get started on your Digivice (if you're a Tamer) or your Digicore (if you're a Solo Digimon.) This page is going to include all your statistical and technical information about your Digimon forms. First off, you're only going to be including your Rookie form for this part. Do not include forms and moves that you have not purchased yet. If you wish to keep track of that stuff, do so in a word document, or PM it to yourself.[break][break]
Now let's get started on that Rookie form. Your choice of Digimon partner is up to you (however, ensure that you check the banlist before choosing) and not randomly generated. Every Rookie form, Tamer or Solo, has 30 points to distribute amongst their ability scores/statistics. Much like before, each statistic must at least have a score of 1, but other than that, distribution is entirely up to you.[break][break]
Now that your stats are all sorted out, it's time to determine your Digimon's weaknesses and resistances. You must choose one of the following options: 1 Resistance and 2 Weaknesses, 2 Resistances and 4 Weaknesses, or 3 Resistances and 6 Weaknesses. Refer to the combat guide to know more about the affinities that exist on the site. You may not resist or be weak to a status effect, only elemental affinities. For now, ignore the "nullification" section, as you will not begin with any nullifications.[break][break]
Let's finish this up. Next refer to the "affinity" section. This does not necessarily determine what "type" your Digimon is, but it does determine what kind of damage their basic attacks deal. If you're unsure what a basic attack is, it is simply any attack such as a kick, punch, or bite, that is not listed as an ability. Refer to the combat guide to learn more about these.[break][break]
• STEP SEVEN: Now it's time for perhaps one of the more complicated parts of the site: crafting your first ability. First, you're going to need to pull up the ability crafting page and the Dark Terminal to continue on with this. Read over both of these pages very carefully, as you will frequently be referring to them whenever you want to make a new ability for your Digimon.[break][break]
Luckily, we will walk you through your first one. Your Rookie form, and any form for that matter that you later buy, only start with one ability. This ability has 50 "free" Bytes that can be used on various effects, as well as a free Special Effect (which you usually can only buy at Rank 1 for a hefty amount of Bytes) for initial crafting. Choose effects that equal up to 50 from the Rank 0 section, and then add a special ability of your choice. This ability also includes a free affinity of your choice, which would normally have to be gained through collecting cards or discs. Remember: If you want a status effect that lasts for a number of turns, you need to purchase Duration along with Status Effect, which would eat up all 50 Bytes.[break][break]
Example Moves (Special Effects are highlighted in green):[break]
Super Shocker (Thunder)[break]
Deals tiny damage to one target. If it makes successful contact, it has a tiny chance of inflicting Stun. If the target is already stunned, then this attack deals low damage instead of tiny damage.[break][break]
Pepper Breath (Fire)[break]
Deals tiny damage to one target. If it makes successful contact, it has a tiny chance of inflicting Burn. Additionally, this ability leaves one Pepper Mark on the target.[break][break]
Solo Digimon additionally start with a free Passive Ability, which is an effect that is always active for that Digimon form. Here's an example of one, adding onto that Pepper Breath attack from earlier.[break][break]
Peppered Claws (Fire)[break]
This Digimon's basic attacks deal additional tiny damage to targets with Pepper Marks, equal to the amount of marks on that target.[break][break]
Simple enough? If not, refer to the ability crafting guides. If you need more help, don't be afraid to ask a member of staff for assistance.[break][break]
• STEP EIGHT: You're finished! Now all you have to do is link the threads you just created in the notification thread, and await for a member of staff to check your stuff over and give you an approval.
