[attr="class","info_text"] Digimon: a beloved franchise that has captivated the hearts of both children to adults alike, spawning numerous video games, anime series, and even a collectible card game; some have expressed no surprise that Japan, where the series first originated from, would be the epicenter of the Digimon craze. In spite of its ever-growing popularity, almost no one today knows of the truth that lies beneath the surface.

Known only to a choice handful of people, Digimon are, in actuality, very much alive and real—and they coexist alongside our own world in a mysterious, parallel universe known only as the 'Digital World'. These individuals have found themselves in possession of a mysterious, pocket-sized apparatus called a 'Digivice' and are linked to a Digimon companion to call their own. Up until 2010, these so-called 'Tamers' were very few and far between, but strange circumstances have led to a dramatic increase in their numbers; this spike has attracted the attentions of the clandestine organization HYPNOS, who seek to suppress the existence of Digimon and all related to them.

Tokyo has found itself on the brink of chaos for years now -- in the belly of the city, there exist emergent, feral Digimon who seek only to cause as much terror as possible. To only further complement this, many Tamers have resorted to secretly banding together into rival underground gangs, skirmishing across the city out of the purview of the law. The four largest wage war for total Digital control over the city: the clandestine Web Troopers, the self-serving Shinjuku Busters, the violent and unruly Nightmare, and the largely unknown Family. With no sign of a ceasefire or truce any time soon, a peaceful resolution seems more and more unlikely as the days pass.

Recently, digital activity has been escalating. More and more wild Digimon are bio-emerging into Tokyo. HYPNOS has been expanding its public suppression operations, whilst simultaneously putting pressure on the Tamers of Japan. Sinister forces gather as the fate of both worlds begins to hang in the balance. Ultimately, it will be the actions of a chosen few Tamers and those associated with them to decide the fate of the human world and Digital World.
