No tasks for the old man tonight, yet Chousen had a goal of his own. Having taken some string from the old man (he wouldn't miss it anyways, would he? what would a blind man even use string for?) along with some small leftover bits and bobs, like small pieces of dried meat and some bits of fruit, he left for the piers of Tokyo. The moon shone brightly above him, with the night rather cloudless. A nice change of pace from the last few nights, what with them being so cloudy and rainy. Fall was coming at an alarming rate... Maybe he should start investing into warmer clothing. Or at least warmer shoes, going around barefoot could be such a damn hassle.
He hadn't disguised himself today. The old man had mentioned in passing that the piers were rather quiet nowadays due to some trouble down there... Or so the old man had heard. If Chousen had to harbor a somewhat-educated guess, it could be that the area was a hotspot for digimon and tamer activity. Or maybe it was a gang-affiliated area. The thought didn't concern him all too much with his tendency to go solo, so he decided to use this chance to test out something that had been plaguing his mind for quite some time now, ever since he happened to see the event in motion on television.
He went fishing. His reptile feet tamped against the pavement as he found a good, secluded place at the pier and sat himself down at the very edge, tying the string around the tip of his shinai as he then tied the end of the string around a very crude hook, sticking a piece of dried meat onto it. He then spun the shinai around a few times, causing the hook to spin round and round in the air until the shinai was thrust forwards, sending the hooked meat flying and into the water, sinking there. His legs were criss-crossed as Chousen took a comfortable position and stared at the hook, hands firmly holding the shinai.
Truly, it was worth risking the night and the possible danger for a chance to fish with an improvised rod that probably couldn't catch anything... But it's the thought that counted.

SC15 Rain Splash SC25 Deep Tendrils SC28 Dryness The piers were dark, the sounds of the rest of tokyo off in the distance. The freight crates all over the place cast sinister shadows all over the place, making it an ideal place to hide. And in fact, someone was hiding in the dark. Two someones actually. The first was a thin, almost sickly looking human, a rather pitiful looking then. The other, taking the lead, was a purple digimon. Reptilian in body, its head looked almost alien, with a single red eye. "M-Masuta," the boy feebly stammered, "Are you sure there's anyone out here? We've been wandering around these docks for hours." Indeed they had come out here, hoping to catch sight of some digimon. After all, how was one going to get stronger if they didn't defeat others? But so far this little venture had been a bust. "There has to be someone!" The Vemmon hissed, smacking the poor boy in the knee with a claw, "I refuse to have wasted all this time with you for nothing!"The duo rounded a corner and quickly pulled back when they saw something nearby. A small digimon, sitting on the pier, fishing. Hiding around the corner, the duo spied on the fishing digimon. "See? What did I tell you. There's a nice target right there." Hisan'na peered out at the digimon. "Wh-What should we do?" "We've got to get closer, find a good point to jump him. Follow me."

Kaida knew her home well enough. You don't stray into other wards unless you're certain you can actually get home, you don't stray into gangs territories unless you had a death wish, and Digimon were generally everywhere. That was the part of her home she knew too many people didn't know about, she had to hide Jorgie all the time because of this lack of knowledge, but she didn't feel like being the one to tell the world that there were digital monsters in the hands of bastards wanting to "be the very best" or something like that, so she didn't. Kaida also knew that the docks tended to be a lifeless place save for the occasional fisherman, which she assumed didn't come st such a time. The perfect place to let Jorgie out to be his Serpentemon self. At least, it would be if not for a sight that was rather troubling. She had thought if there was going to be any trouble it would be that a gang had taken over the docks for the night, not a rouge Digimon...fishing? Instantly, she cast a glance around. Was this an ambush, some kind of bait? St her sudden worry, Jorgie emerged and lent his eyes, " Nothing. Nothing." A real rouge Digimon? Her Digivice hadn't gone off, so this creature had somehow survived long enough to get the concept of fishing in its head. She let a crimped smile pinch her face, good luck with that! She knew from trying the fish around here barely bit so close to shore, but this Digimon didn't need to know that. A Digimon trying to survive...she sighed, and her face flattened out into unrecognizable neutrality. Kaida had no business with this creature, but still flicked up her Digivice. She needed to make sure she could handle it if it turned out to be aggressive...a Rookie Kotemon...never heard of it. As if reading her mind, Jorgie peered at the Digivice, and nodded. Nice to know she had a blessing. Kaida meandered to the Digimon, keeping her steps light until she was right on top of the Kotemon, then step hard enough to make a huge thud. " Terrible place to fish." She mumbled without fanfare, even with her Digimon out, it seemed she wasn't looking for a fight tonight...though it seemed she also didn't notice the two actually looking for a fight. He didn't get to fish for too long. Maybe about five to ten minutes, somewhere between that timeframe... But those five to ten minutes were peaceful, and rather enjoyable. He had no idea of what he was actually doing, going off of only the information he had observed from the short program before the old man had changed the channel, yet he had gained an instant fascination towards the sport. To catch something from beneath the surface of the dark ocean, and to then prepare it for a meal. He wasn't much of a culinarist, but the little bits and pieces of fish that he had consumed tasted quite delicious. What better way to get more than to fish some yourself?
Of course, that was interrupted by the sudden thump and a voice mumbling out. He just barely heard what was being said, turning his head towards the direction of the sound. A woman and a serpent-like digimon. This one he hadn't seen before, and his yellow eyes squinted just a tad. Her stance seemed generally nonthreatening, and honestly, this was one of the few times he did not long for the flurry of combat. To slay an enemy was his goal and the butter to his bread, but he could do with simply slaying a fish tonight. Still, a terrible place to fish?! Where else was he supposed to do it? This was the closest he could get to the water without boarding a ship or swimming, and he KNEW that fishes lived in the water. Still, she was a human, so she should be in the know-how, right?
"Fie, 'tis the only place where I can fish. What other place would you suggest, then? The open sea? I fear I cannot swim and fish at the same time. And boarding a boat is far too risque, even for someone of my strength." His eyes turned back to the ocean as he draw his shinai back and raised the bait out of the water, dangling it in front of his face. The dried meat was still meat... But not as dry. That's what water does to things. "I have heard of fishing ponds, but those are open at night, and thus have humans watching them. I cannot risk such either, sadly."
He did not even bother to mention the concept of combat to the woman and her companion; he hoped it'd never even come up. Most of the humans he had met were passive enough to allow someone like himself to live, as long as he simply let them be. Digimon were his main goal, not humans... And even then, only those digimon who chose to fight him. If only he knew about the murderous intent looming just a little ways off from his current position, swinging his shinai around as the bait was recast into the sea, his tail sweeping against the pier.Kaida Adachi Hisan'na Meshitsukai

The dark duo had managed to creep closer upon the unsuspecting digimon, keeping close to the shadows. But now another problem had decided to rear its ugly head. A young woman, accompanied by ANOTHER digimon, appeared and was now sitting beside it, chatting with it. Were they friends? The fact that they weren't fighting eachother seemed evidence enough. The sight made Masuta sick. Who had any need for friends?
"M-Maybe we should go," Hisan'na stammered from their hiding place, "W-We can't fight them both." Masuta growled at his tamer's weakness. "Of course we can! We just need to be smart. You've got cards right? Use them!" Hisan'na blinked. He had forgotten his cards. He looked through them, finding one that could help. Deep Tendrils. Holding his digivice out, he swiped the card, planning on using it to restrain the woman.

Kaida was honestly surprised to hear the Digimon talk so casually, having come to expect that the Digimon that came through by themselves tended to attack humans without much warning. Even more surprising was the sophisticated way it spoke, but she still didn't relax, keeping her attention on it even when she wasn't directly looking at it. She shrugged distantly, turning her gaze out to the sea, " You don't have a human." She observed, " You don't got a choice, huh?" She didn't really expect an answer, this was fine, she was just satisfying some curiosity...she couldn't stay long, lest this creature try to drag her into a conversation. Jorgie slid down from her shoulders, touching the ground for the first time in days and stretching out. Kaida risked another glance at the lone Digimon, " Lucky I'm no Buster." She grumbled, " They'll kill you." Why she offered this advice, she wasn't sure. Perhaps seeing another creature trying to survive in a world that'd unfailingly kill it was too grim for her. Either way, she clammed up after her words, lowering her Digivice. At least until darkened vines shot up around her ankles. Already a very tense person, Kaida leapt upward and felt the digital plants tear before they could properly fasten, crashing downwards as her feet tangled in her backwheeling. Almost instantly she was on her feet, face twisted into fury as she realized she was just attacked, and Jorgie head raised and he hissed. His eyes were locked in the shadows, and he suddenly slithered into them, right towards Kaida's assulters. Unobstructed, he made an attempt to bite the boy's leg, Kaida could take care of him if he could get out into the open. Kaida herself stayed in silent attention, crouching down and preparing for another strike. " Enemies, two." She announced, hands clenching into white fists. (Jorgie tries to bite Hisan'na's leg!) "A buster?"
Had to be one of those gangs. He never bothered to remember their names, after all, most of them seemed to be the same: violent thugs who teamed up with digimon to cause havoc and to do battle. That's what he had picked up from the minor details he heard, and he'd quickly decided he did not want to involve himself in gang warfare. While such a thing could further his goals by quite a bit, it felt dishonorable. Fighting for turf, for areas, and for something as pitiful as playing cards simply felt far too distasteful for his palette. He'd fight for his own goals. He gets in on with himself, he ain't got a posse and his enemies get shelved. Simple and clean.
Before he could bring the discussion any further, dark vines burst from the ground and around the woman's legs, with her partner soon dashing out into the shadows. It happened rather quickly, leaving Chousen blinking while still casting his bait into the ocean's grey waves, the tip of his shinai bopping once or twice as the waves pulled the bait along. Well, uh. This was a thing. Not a thing he exactly wished to involve himself in, but a thing nonetheless, and that thing was taking place right next to him. Really, they're just going to duke it out in front of his fishing spot? How uncouth. And it'd be even more uncouth of him to simply watch from the side.
So, Chousen pulled the shinai over and quickly de-attached the string, standing up and joining Kaida, taking up a defensive stance next to her, the tip of his sword occasionally tapping against the pavement, as if he was slamming a taiko drum, creating a quiet beat. "I hope you do not mind me taking part. I do not enjoy others poaching upon my well-earned fishing time, and it would be a sad affair to see you have to fight alone. Consider it a return of favor, for your warning that you gave unto me."
Chousen nodded his head and kept his position near her. He could gather that in a human + digimon combo, the human was the far more vulnerable portion of the combo. So, he would stay by her side and negate the weakness Kaida and Serpentmon possessed. It was the least he could do.[CHOUSEN DOES NOT ATTACK, PROTECTIVE STANCE NEAR KAIDA] Kaida Adachi Hisan'na Meshitsukai

The dark tentacles shot up from the ground, wrapping around the woman's feet. Unfortunately they weren't strong enough to hold her, as she tore herself free with little to no effort. "I-It didn't work." Hisan'na groaned. Masuta growled in anger. "Thank you captain obvious! Damn, what good are you, you useless human!" It seemed though the woman, nor her digimon were going to waste any time trying to figure out what was going on. Before Hisan'na could react, the snake-like digimon shot forward and sank its fangs right into Hisan'na's leg!
Hisan'na howled in pain as he fell backwards, blood already leaked from his leg as he grabbed hold of the snake, trying to pry him off. Masuta looked over at the struggling duo. "Well, guess you're useful for something. Keep that damn snake busy while I go for the target!" The Vemmon's vicious red eye focused on the Kotemon, paying little to no mind of the human. Kaida worked fast, as soon as the Digimon released the crude hook he had made, she scrambled to grab it. Small as it was, that didn't change the fact that she needed a weapon of sort to have a chance to fight a Digimon on even terms. She tilted her head as the lone Digimon announced his assist and snorted, pulling the bandana around her neck up until only her eyes were visible, " Ok." She didn't give thanks, she didn't need some kind of debt, this was his fight just as much as it were hers. It seemed her caution wasn't needed, of all attacks to take, the enemy went for the other Digimon present. Why it didn't go for the human like Jorgie did was beyond her, though it made for an easier fight. Still, Kaida instinctively backed off briefly before she saw the attack was going her unintentional ally. Whatever way her enemy's strike went, she drew her wrist back and swung the crude hook for the creature's back. There was no announcement to the strike, she just did it. Meanwhile the Serpentemon latched onto the boy was doing his damnest to hold on for dear life, but ultimintly was flung away, crashing and rolling briefly on the concrete. Red had joined his black colors on his snout, and he reared up to the fullest extent of his body, narrowing his eyes. He couldn't see gang symbols on this boy's body, for all intents and purposes this was likely a Tamer who had stupidly entered a battle he wasn't ready for. Kaida wouldn't make such an ignorant mistake! The Digimon had gone into battle and left his little human exposed without so much as a weapon...a cruel light entered Jorgie's eyes, he wouldn't make the same mistake twice...and he lunged once more, aiming higher, the arms... He had expected the enemy to charge for the tamer he had chosen to protect, so he was taken by quite the surprise when the Vemmon charged out and against him. His shinai was lifted to parry the sudden attack, but it was just a little too late; the claw sunk into his arm, scratching deep, causing a strange sensation in the cut area. It hurt, but he also felt a tad more... Tired? As if some of his data had been drained to sustain the attacker. He was unsure of if the thought was true or not, but he'd keep the idea in mind. If the enemy could sustain itself from the data and life force of others, the fight would become much longer. Hm.
Was this whole event linked to gang warfare? At least the woman seemed to be aware of the gang dynamics of the city, and she was the one who was attacked first instead of him, implying that the attacker might've had beef with her in specific. What a problematic situation, all things considered. He just wanted to fish.
Well, he'd just have to try and use the situation to his advantage. With the female tamer attacking from behind, he just had to keep the enemy distracted from the front, yellow eyes glistening brightly for a moment as he took a hold of his shinai with the both of his hands, keeping it steady. "Shinai Slam!" Suddenly, the wooden blade of the shinai flashed in silver and turned metallic, looking more like a baseball bat than a shinai as it was sent for a quick and rough swing towards the Vemmon's head, hoping he'd at least disrupt it's trail of thought for a moment. If not... Well, this could last a while, and get rather ugly.

After a struggle, Hisan'na managed to finally get the serpentine digimon, tearing the wound that it caused and drawing even more blood. Thankfully its fangs had missed any major arteries, but it was still very painful. The boy was clutching his leg, trying his hardest to bite back the tears that were forming in his eyes. The problem though was that he was so focused on his injury, he failed to notice serpantmon dive at him again. He DID notice when the fangs sank into his arm. Hisan'na let out a cry of pain and then tried feebly bashing the snack over the head, trying to dislodge him.
Meanwhile, Masuta would have grinned as his attack connected, sucking up some of the Kotemon's data, but he didn't have a mouth. Of course, any sense of accomplishment he would have felt was immediately dashed as the girl, with that damn fishing pole, attacked him from behind, distracting him long enough for the Kotemon to strike him over the head with its weapon. The attack hurt, though thankfully not as badly as it could have. The Vemmon growled in irritation. "Back off human! This is between me and your little friend here!" Attacking her was ultimately not worth it. They were weak and had no data to help restore his wounds. But the Kotemon did. And since it made no attempt to flee, the fiendish digimon was in a good position to attack him once again.

Kaida grinned as her attack earned her an angry bellow, her heart was pounding in her throat and she was feeling great! It was a rare feeling when the excitement of battle overwhelmed the instinctual fear of harm, and she was enjoying every minute of it. Her face dropped slightly at the Digimon's assumption that her current battle partner was a friend, and she scoffed. Temporarily partner, yes, but friend was a little...much. " He's no friend." She growled, backing up slightly, " Neither is your human...I don't have to make Jorgie not kill him." Threat made, she hopped back to allow a slightly better view of the struggle happening maybe a few meters from this battle. A dangerous gleam shone in her eyes, it seemed she wasn't kidding on letting Jorgie go for the kill if it came to that. Jolts of pain laced through Jorgie's head and prompted him to hold tighter. He had heard Kaida's declaration and intended to follow through with what she said. This time, he was prepared for the attack. His shinai is lifted to quickly parry the attack, grunting and sliding back a bit as the claws of the Vemmon strike against the wood. He has to use all of his strength to make sure it doesn't manage to break through, but the frame of his sword keeps together and allows him to block the attack until he can use his tail to spring back, increasing the distance between himself and the hostile digimon. So the Vemmon was after him, huh? Made sense. He was the one with the valuable data, after all. The other digimon that was punishing Vemmon's partner had the advantage of a partner; more than enough to keep it safe from sudden attacks. He snorted and glanced to Kaida, sighing quietly.
"Normally, I would not even go as far as to offer mercy unto those who strike me without as much as a warning... But, your tamer seems to be in quite the pitiful state. I shall offer you a boon no-one else has ever had the pleasure of experiencing: back off now, thy venomous fiend, and I shan't attack. We shall separate, and pretend this never even happened. 'Tis the honor of my name that ensures this promise shall not be broken." He keeps his shinai still and steady, tail tamping against the pavement slowly. Despite his promises, he doesn't lower the weapon, shuffling on the spot from time to time to keep himself limber.
"But if thy strike now, thy shall seal thy destiny: your data shall feed mine for the end of times. Are you ready to seal your fate for the evening, monster? Yours and your partners?" He felt somewhat sorry for the tamer of this monstrous fool. He didn't seem to be that strong of a person, and in fact, hadn't even used any cards to support his digimon besides the one that had tried to trap Kaida before. Meanwhile, Masuta sneered as he glared at the Kotemon, who gave him an ultimatum. The Vemmon hated to admit it, but even with Hisan'na keeping the other digimon occupied, he was still at a disadvantage. Damn useless human. Weren't they supposed to give a digimon strength? "Tough talk coming from someone with backup. But fine. I'll let this one go." He backed up from the Kotemon, glaring at him and the girl who claimed to not be his friend, yet came rushing to his defence. Vemmon glanced back at his bound tamer. "As for that useless sack of flesh, go right ahead. Break him, eat him, do what you like. He's useless to me."
And with that, Masuta took off into the darkness, abandoning his tamer. Meanwhile, Hisan'na went limp in serpantmon's grip. Not from losing consciousness, but just giving up. Tears poured down the poor boy's cheeks.

Kaida didn't move an inch as her battle partner spoke, looking for all the world a statue as she leaned forward, hand flat against the ground. Her only movement was an occasional twitch of her heels, and she looked on the verge of pouncing on her enemy if he so much as took a step. She curled her lip at his speech, but kept quiet long enough for the Digimon to run away, " Bastard." She snarled, and released her make-shift weapon, it clattered to the ground and was bent in a sorry shape after her attack with it. The kid was still here, in an even sorrier state thanks to Jorgie's uncaring attacks...he was clearly no danger, but she supposed she had better be sure. ...and what if he was? Would she kill him? She didn't even have a weapon on hand! Kaida's face started to shift as she stalked toward the constricted boy, frowning deeply as a lost sort of expression creeped into her eyes. Jorgie tilted his head up, smiling proudly for the briefest of moments before he caught the look in her eyes, what was wrong? His eyes looked eager, Jorgie would gladly kill this boy if she gave a reason, any reason, and Kaida's stomach rolled uncomfortably. There wasn't even any data to take... " Let him go." Her words were so quiet Jorgie blinked in bafflement, " Why-" and she spoke up louder, " I said, we're letting go...try anything, and Jorgie will eat you."
