Searing Justice (Encounter)

Obito passed one of the card kiosks that sold more Digimon cards. He always couldn't resist buying more of those. To his surprise, he opened a pack and got a few unique ones. ONes almost similar to when he discovered the strange blue card-- one he never seen before. An odd digimon that looked like a black version of a sphinx. Something about it made him feel similar to Panthermon, but he shook off the feeling and pocketed hte rest. "Another weapon for the armory," he said to himself.

We should not be out too late-- or risk running into people like that glasses wearing freak, Panthermon warned via his telepathy. He could see Obito from below, as the cat was perched on one of the long lampposts. 

He felt his cards against his Digivice, and while he was curious-- he was right. THe last thing Obito wanted to do was get into more fights with tamers who actually hunted other tamers. He didn't mind fighting, but they aimed to kill him. Take his digivice-- and Pathermon away form him. He CREATED Panthermon, born from his own wishes and dreams. Obito felt compelled to hold on to him however he could. The thought to lose him was something he couldn't bear. It was as if losing a piece of himself.   "Yeah... I don't need to be reminded of it, Panthermon." 

Sorry,  Panthermon replied, sensing the pain Obito had over the thought.

Nearby-- on another corner of Shibuya, a large, several tier church set up for demolition and renovation stood quietly in the night offset the park. The inside was empty, and in shambles. The holy alter and statues were also removed. However, a vibration of energy seemed to cause the work lights to flicker. 

From out of nowhere, the ground vibrated-- and a plum of 'fog' appeared within the church. It spreaded outward, leaking out and eclipsing a good area of the church and its surrounding area. 

A digimon was emerging...

Panthermon's eyes changed with focus as he looked off to the distance, sensing the change in the air. He could feel it. The same digital field that appeared. 

Obito... something is coming!  the cat warned. 

He heard his partner clear as a bell, and hesitated for a moment. Obito reached for his digivice and held it tight. The doubts he had from his last encounter still hung close to him-- but now he had to face those fears and truly embrace what being a tamer meant.

Obito and Panthermon were first on the scene-- and due to the outskirts of Shibuya, not many people were around. Anyone who looked at the odd fog simply brushed it off as fog or smoke from the subway below from the grates. But nothing was further from the truth. Obito followed the signal on his Digivice and the guidance that Panthermon's telepathy gave him. Finally, he arrived at the steps outside of where the ruined church was.

The very first steps were covered completely in the fog of the digital field-- and he couldn't even see the building. Just a shadow of its shape, and nothing else. With no one else around, Panthermon appeared. He lifted the invisibility from his body and appeared as a blur of darkness to his original form, standing right beside Obito.

The young teen adjusted his glasses as he looked into the fog. "How long do you think we have? I mean before the digimon inside breaks out?" Obito asked. This was his first wild encounter-- and he was already growing nervous. Though he likely was not about to face an enemy tamer like before, the danger was heavy on his shoulders.

Panthermon crouched as he glanced over the fog-- and sniffed the air. "It varies, depending on the Digimon's strength inside. Normally it shouldn't be soon, but the sooner we stop any danger inside, the sooner we dont' have to worry about it running amok." the cat replied and flexed his claws.

Obito nodded. With his digivice in hand, he took a deep breath. "Alright... Let's get going," Obito said. Together, the two stepped into the fog and vanished from sight.

... Obito climbed the steps that led up to the chapel. The building, though covered with construction tiers and tarps, stood a good 4 stories considering the bell tower at the top. It was one that was designed to be very spacious inside as well as with a high ceiling.

"I really hope we aren't gonna get in trouble if a digimon causes damage to the church," Obito commented as they walked up to the building.

The cat looked around, more worried if the enemy was outside. "What makes you think anyone would blame you for their actions?" Panthermon replied in a sarcastic tone.

Obito sighed and rubbed the back of his head. "Clearly you don't understand the moral consequences of fighting inside a church, do you, Panthermon?" Obito replied in similar sarcasm to his partner.

Though the cat gave a soft growl in protest to the jab, they kept moving further and approached the doors of the church. With his two hands, Obito grabbed a hold of the large wooden door's handle and pulled. The church doors squeaked open and he allowed Panthermon to go inside.

Obito and Panthermon were already inside of the church and passed the major entrance way-- which opened up to the inside of the cathedral. Several of the wooden benches were broken or torn down, leaving a larger open space than before. The alter was still in tact, with a few angel statues and the ruins of a stained glass window in the back. Odd light-- perhaps generated by the digital field seemed to illuminate the place, but there was no light source to be seen. The church was eerily quiet-- so quiet one could hear Panthermon's cat like steps on the ground.

Obito rubbed his eyes briefly by removing his glasses and quickly put them back on-- to observe his surroundings. "This feels.. off," Obito commented to Panthermon. "Where is this thing?"

"Don't lower your guard. I can feel it. It's close..." Panthermon said as they walked further in.

"HALT!!" A voice boomed and echoed in the chapel. "WHO DARES TRESPASS UPON THIS HOLY GROUND! REPENT SINNERS!"

Both of them darted their gaze around, but didn't see anyone. Suddenly, flickers of fire blazed to life on the old candles that surrounded the church walls. Further light illuminated the space with the flames, causing them to both go on alert. Then from the end of the room-- something moved. From out behind one of the angel statues-- two large white wings appeared and rose up into view. They gave a wide flap and a tall figure lifted off into the air.

The figure was humanoid in shape, but much larger than a regular human, dressed in blue and a light shade of violet. HIs body seemed to be adorn with ribbons like holy garb-- and his face was masked by an odd metallic cross pattern. only his lower face was visible, as he rose up with his wings attached to his back. He seemed to be a literal angel, holding a long staff in his hands. His wings flapped, revealing a soft fiery glow to them.

He rose his staff up as he levitated in the air before Obito and Panthermon. "Ah... perhaps I was mistaken. A human child. Have you come to pray?" the angel said , his voice rather loud and brash. "Fear not, you are safe in these walls. For I am Pidomon-- guardian angel of fiery justice!"

Obito was speechless-- his jaw slacked in the ridiculous situation he was in. If it was an anime, his expression would be followed with a sweat drop. Panthermon seemed to have an equally embarrassed look on his face.

"You're kidding me right...?" Obito groaned and rubbed the side of his head. " This has to be a mistake."

Panthermon turned to Obito, a weary look on his face. "Why do you say that?"

"HELLO?!" Obito snapped back to his black cat partner. "An angel-- in church! There is no way we can fight someone like that here of all places!"

The cat just still gave Obito a tired look. "He isn't a real angel you know," the cat quipped.

"That's not the point!" Obito shouted back at his partner, his glasses almost falling off. "Just going in and fighting an angel for no other reason than just being a wild digimon-- in a holy ground like church, is asking for moral consequences. Seriously, what its like I pissed off the wrong guy up there," he added and pointed to the sky.

While both Digimon and Partner bickered-- the angel tilted his head. "Hark thee-- for there is no agressive fighting within these sacred walls, unless thee brings ill spirits," the angel said, interrupting the rant.

Obito stopped and looked at the odd angel. Finally, to his senses, he took out his Digivice and the hologram screen popped up with a readout on the Digimon. "Huh, interesting. Piddomon-- a Vaccine angel Digimon. Uh oh... he's champion level." Obito informed his Digimon. "I really rather not incur any divine wrath, okay?"

"Well that all depends if Mr. Truth and Justice is as stupid as he sounds," Panthermon grumbled, unable to really tolerate the rogue Digimon's loud and brash talk about 'justice'.

Unaware of the presence of the other tamer and Digimon nearby, Obito and Panthermon were focused on the odd angel Digimon before them. Though the teenager was hesitant, he preferred if it was possible to talk things out with this guy. While he might be a rogue digimon-- he was somewhat intelligent. He was no wild beast digimon with no sense of awareness or on a rampage. There was a chance they could end this peacefully, without causing further damage to the church or attacking a 'holy digimon' in such a place.

"Um, Piddomon? We come in peace...?" Obito said and held out his hands in sincereity. "We were worried you came here to attack this place and the outside. But if you mean no harm, then perhaps we can just--"

"WHAT FOUL VILLIANY!!" Piddomon shouted.

Obito's eyes went wide with confusion. "Um, what?" he asked.

The Piddomon raised his staff and pointed it right to Panthermon beside Obito. "What foul demon has come in toe with you, child! Beware-- for this feline is but a familiar of witchcraft. You can see the devil in its eyes!"

Panthermon furrowed his eyes at the Piddomon, a growl escaping him. "Excuse me...?" The cat was both offended and confused by the angel's comment.

"Thy beast is a demon in disguise, carrying wicked darkness to corrupt thou's soul!" The angel went on about him, " Step away, child! This beast is no good and must be destroyed or your soul shall be at risk!"

BOth Obito and Panthermon exchanged glances, as if to go 'is this guy for real?' "Um... listen you REALLY got the wrong idea here," Obito spoke up, holding his hands up nervously. "Panthermon is no demon. He is just your average Digimon, I swear. He is my partner. No need to get all worked up."

"And Demon? Really?" Panthermon replied with a curt snort of disguist. "I'm personally offended by that. I'm more of a hellcat if you need to dub me something, you loon." The cat's grumble showed how he disliked being judged by appearance. On that, Obito agreed to and smirked.

However, the angel Digimon seemed unconvinced-- or blindly opinionated. "HM... I see... Your mind has been poisoned by this foul creature's evil!" The angel announced. "Do not fear-- I shall smite thy demon and free you from his wicked influence!

Obito sweated more as he saw the Angel rise up into the air with a flap of his wings. "Wha-- wait a second!" Obito shouted waving his arms to get him to stop. "No smiting! No smiting!"

"FIRE FEATHER!!" The angel roared and gave a wide arch of his flapping wings. A barrage of fiery feathers came flying out and sprayed outward towards the spot where Obito and Panthermon were.

"Look out!" Panthermon growled and charged for Obito. The Panther pounced on him-- and forced him out of the way from the fiery feather attack. The two of them skidded along the rough ground, nearing a column of the church. "STay here and back me up!" Panthermon suggested-- and quickly took off after Piddomon.

Obito was too focused on the giant angel Digimon who declared war on Panthermon as the giant cat took off down the isle and darted from cover to cover of the ruins around. The giant angel continued to track it with his gaze and every so often-- release his storm of fiery feathers again. They exploded around Panthermon, who quickly dashed around them with his cat-like reflexes.

He dove behind one of the alters-- and stuck out his head. "SPIRAL FLAME!!" Panthermon roared and fired a spiraling blast of fire at Pidomon.

However the angel merely shielded himself with his wing, and blew the small fire out. "Ha! you cannot burn me, you foolish fiend!" the angel boasted and flew forward. With his staff, he worked to try and deliver a physical blow against Panthermon from above.

The cat however was quick-- and took action of his own. His front paws glowed in a black-aura as he lunged for the angel himself. THe two collided, Panthermon trying to scratch at him with his claws.

However, the damage didn't take, being reduced significantly and the angel merely swatted the cat off with his staff.

Obito grimaced from behind the pillar, unsure how he could help his partner as he was up a superior foe-- airborne and resistant to fire attacks.

Pidmon's Abilities Used:

Passive-- FLight- able to fly and not easy to reach with melee/physical attacks.

Ability: Fire Feather-- deals a barrage of feathers that explode into holy fire upon impact. Deals low fire damage.

Angel Rod: A physical blow with an angel staff. Deals tiny light damage upon impact.

Panthermon skidded along the floor and growled at the angel. Despite his blows, he wasn't able to deal lasting damage to him. Obito! Panthermon shouted with his telepathy, telling him to help him out. 


From behind the pillar, Obito nodded and reached into his pocket for his cards. He knew that the Piddomon was strong and agile in the air-- so Panthermon needed an edge in speed to deal more blows. "Let's try this one," Obito said and brought a card to his Digivice. "Speed Driver, activate." He swiped the card and caused the screen to light up as if to run the program.

Panthermon's body flickered as if he had static on his body-- and suddenly was gone from view. The cat was now moving around as a blur, almost leaving after-images as he did. Piddomon's reaction seemed startled as he had a hard time tracking the cat, now seeming to be all around him. "Stay still you foul demon!" he swore and released another fire feather ---

-- only to hit nothing but air and explode on the ground.

It was that instant, Panthermon appeared in the air right behind Piddomon, having leapt up with his enhanced speed. "That's Speed demon to you, feathers!" he growled-- and swiped another Shadow CLaw upon his back. Piddomon gave a shout of pain, but still, the claws didn't truly hurt him as bad as it would.

Obito kept to his secure place, and got ready for his next card-- a combo to help Panthermon he learned from his first fight. Though Obito was a rookie as a tamer, he had experience with the card game and knew how to apply excellent combos to Pantermon's innate traits.
