'and he... - i have no honest what his name is - he's still's alive,' the young woman thought. she would occasionally shoot looks in the direction of kimura's and charlie's brawl. rosaline caught blurred glimpses of blood of what appeared to be blood, and would feel a terrible surge of worry because of it. she had no desire to lose another comrade on this day, her heart already aching due to the sudden loss of one. Dolph wasn't too worried about the opposing Digimon. Even if he himself wasn't exactly regional champion material, he liked to imagine he was at least capable of holding his own.
A thought quickly put to the test by a barrage of lasers, which the angel managed to avoid, even dressed as a human with his wings constricted.
"Louise, you'd better find cover," he said.
Louise gave him a look. He could never tell what her looks meant; it might as well have meant 'Dolph, you idiot' as it could 'Dolph, you heroic angel'.
"Cover. Now!"
The girl hurried away.
Dolph raised his hand for another Holy Word. He really didn't think he had much business interfering, but... these people looked serious. One doesn't get so many frantic and angry faces just by being a nice lad.

Things seemed to be slowly turning in their favour. Despite his boasts, Eagleheart and his Vemmon partner were getting worn down by the group. And nobody saw this more than Masuta. His hunger to consume the Vemmon's data made his proverbial mouth water. He wanted to rip it apart, consume its data. With an animalistic howl, the dark digimon hurled himself at the enemy, swinging one last blow with the Ouryken before the lance shattered into pixels.
Meanwhile, Hisan'na stepped back, keeping a safe distance from the fighting. Though right now he was worried about others in the fray. He recognized a good number of them there already.

Everyone was scrambling around helplessly, all of them, just like the cockroaches they were! Now, it was too late to run. " You pack a good punch, brat, but it won't do you or your punk friends any good! My Hyper Blaster Cannon's batteries are fully charged, and there's nothing you can do to stop it from firing!" Charlie spat with a mixture of blood and saliva, still cocksure of the victory that lies beyond the horizon. He endures another set of ferocious attacks, pushing beyond the fatigue that grips his muscles and bones, and throws his weight into another lunge. " Eyes peeled, pretty boy!" The American champion unleashes a lightning-fast forward jab aimed directly at the black-haired youth's facial features, with the intent to finish things once and for all. 0WmLSvZB
Despite his injuries, Vemmon was still able to persist against the waves of Tamers and Digimon that threw nothing short of their best efforts at him. They were all so green, so inexperienced. None of the harm he suffered this fight could truly be called 'damage'. These fools weren't possibly prepared to know what 'damage' truly looked like. "Surrender is no longer an option. Your termination is inevitable." Vemmon announces with clipped words, straightening his posture out before desperately skating his way behind the summoned artillery weapon as enormous arcs of plasma crackled and surged furiously from its many barrels, carving into the surrounding landscape in unstable whips. At last, the Hyper Blaster Cannon fires a single massive beam of white-hot plasma from its muzzles, unleashing pure devastation onto the raiding party with a deafening roar. Charlie will roll in the middle of his post, and Kimura will have to roll against it. The winner will deal one point of damage to the other. Both Charlie and Kimura have three points of life before the fist fight is over. If Kimura wins, he will inflict 1000 points of damage to Charlie's HP.  His heart was racing. He had no idea how Kuki was doing, or if the Terriermon had been effective at all. Heck, he had no idea how anyone was doing inside there. They all had one target - Eagleheart's Vemmon - but with all the noise, it sounded like they still hadn't taken him down yet.
But he wouldn't just lie there and wait. He'd been lucky before, summoning the Terriermon with his first card swipe. None of these cards were supposed to harm his digimon, right?
Taking a random card from his hand, he swiped it through his digivice. Nothing appeared around him - no items, no digimon, no motorcycle - so whatever he just used must've had its effect on Kuki's end. Hopefully, it was something useful.
But then he heard a familiar sound. It had been nestled in with the commotion of the battle, but now, it grew loud enough that it overcame all the other sounds. He remembered hearing it during the tournament fight between Eagleheart and his opponent. That was the massive laser attack that decimated his opponent, wasn't it?

Before he could say anything, a massive roar erupted from the alleyway. Being outside the alleyway would leave him safe from the blast, but could he say the same about anyone inside there?

This was bad. Both Kasumi and Mirrormon thought they were prepared to face such attack, but the truth was that this version of the Hyper Blaster Cannon at the very least seemed to be way stronger than the one they had seen in the fights. Surviving it would be a feat, the pair already witnessing how devastating was the attack on the first targets in which it managed to land. Bracing themselves the best they could, they tried to avoid it, and if they were succesful, they retaliate soon afterwards. After that, Charlie surely hadn't much left, right? If he had more tricks under his sleeve sides that card, this would probably result in a savage beating. But they didn't have time to think about that, right? It was too late to back down, not to say... the redhead had to admit the thrill this experience was bringing wasn't like anything she had experienced before. If this was the end, it would probably be a fitting one.

No matter how hard he was hitting, it seemed like time was up, the bell was rung. There went that dreaded siren, even if it didn't affect him, the fact he couldn't stop it continued to bother him. Once again, the young man was too weak to defend all those people that put their faith and trust into him. Yet again, he'd failed. The sound of this failure cascaded upon him as Charlie had the last laugh. His word didn't bother him, they meant fuck all to him, but turning back to watch that cannon fire made his blood boil. Second time in his life that he had this feeling, second time in his life he felt useless because of it.
Seemed like that damn cannon would destroy everything in its path, and all for what? What was this man trying to prove here with his disruption of the tournament and his path of fury? There wasn't time to think about this, especially once he'd came to face him again to only be knocked back with a solid punch to the face. Stumbling back a bit, his lip had been busted open by the twisting motion of his straight, both of them spitting blood now. Kimura could feel his breath leave his body slowly, there was no more tension, no more rising heart rate. Was this it? Was this what he was going to do today, let someone walk over him and all he stood for.
The taste of blood in his mouth wasn't new, neither was needing to find the will to fight. This was the second time. . . that's all that went through his mind at the moment. There shouldn't be a fucking second time. Clenching his fists, the veins and capillaries in his forearms pushed against his flesh, the form of anger and hatred detailing itself along his arms. Here it was, the feeling of murder on his conscience, that nothing would be sweeter right now. Focusing his eyes on his American bastard, they were on this same insane wavelength, just wanting to slaughter those that opposed them. In a single moment, his stoicism dropped and it came to a yell.
The strength of his lungs yelling out was accompanied by a charge, once again speeding towards the man like he did earlier. There was no jump, Kimura attempted to tackle him and take him to the ground. All this intensity was expected to collide and slam the man's shoulders into the concrete they used to be standing on. If he'd managed to get him there, an onslaught of punches aimed at his opponents face would be next. There was no stopping his assault, not until he knew that he'd broken something, whether it be a jaw or the frontal bone. Probably the first time that he desired the death of another individual so fiercely.

His time was up. Their time was up.
Sirens blared loud and clear across the alleyway as the Special beam canon thingamabob achieved full charge. There was no stopping the thing, and unfortunately, it didn't seem like the guy that had saved him had managed to put the canadian out for the count in time.
"Shit. Shit!" Muttered the blonde lowly as his eyes widened, a feeling that he wasn't used to filling his chest.
Being a couch potato, fear for his life was not something he usually ran into while browsing the webs, no matter how many threats he received while arguing with internet tough guys.
The sirens blaring sent his chest into overdrive, the blonde nearly tripping as he tried to scramble his way out of the alleyway. It didn't take him long to realize that the other side was too far away, and there was no way he could outrun the blast.
No, the only way to save himself was to not be in its path in the first place.
He turned sharply on his heel, breaking into a mad dash for the blonde man once again. He didn't care if the American used the card; there was no way he was immune to its power. The fact that the Vemmon had chosen to retreat behind him just confirmed that so long as he stood behind it, he would be safe.
He just needed to get there in time!
But as he stared at the barrel of the cannon, its charge threatening to blast him off the face of the Earth, he felt a his heart drop to his stomach. He would need a damn miracle to make it.
His hand slipped and slashed a single card out of his hoodie's pocket in one smooth motion, and the blonde sent a silent prayer to whoever was listening.

It had seemed like everything was going in their favour. They group had been collectively wailing on the Vemmon, while a couple of tamers had taken on the Vemmon's master directly.
But then thing took a turn for the worst. With a loud declaration, the Vemmon began charging an unholy amount of energy. The same monstrous energy that it had been building up the entire fight. It intended to take everyone out in one blow.
Over the roar of power, Master roared in fury. "The only one to be eliminated will be you!" Masuta dove at the Vemmon, claw outstretched as the enemy fired.

Dolph's gaze wandered, glimpsing Louise's retreating back.
She listened for a change. He tried to look more pleased than surprised. Not that anyone'd have the time to watch him in the din of battle.
There were numerous questions. Why were people fighting? What had Charlie done wrong this time? And why was he having fisticuffs with the other guy? Speaking of, that looked like a good fight.
But for the rest, the ragtag gang of would-be champion beaters had pretty much everything. A spider fighting by its lonesome, and a bunch of kids with varying wardrobes.
A penguin, too. Why was there a penguin?
The question distracted him for a moment. When he deigned to focus on the battle again, he was just in time to watch a beam headed straight for him.
Crap, I liked these clothes.

[ FINAL TURN ] Eagleheart spit out a bit of blood as if it were tobacco chew, then wiping his mouth. After the cannon had fired, it was completely destroyed by its own destructive energy, leaving the alley covered in metal scraps that soon vanished into free data. The Japanese boy wouldn't let up, screaming in rage and going after the American Tamer in a bout to kill him, more than likely. Strangely enough, the man didn't put up his fists like before, instead lowering them to his sides, and simply stepping out of the way of the assault. Embarrassing, for any sort of fighter. "I really admire the killer intent, kid. But let's face the music - this is over.
I've won." The smoke from the overcharged blast was still in the air, but was starting to thin out. If Kimura would look, he would notice most of his allies have fallen. Bodies everywhere, some burned, and some bloodied, but it was clear Vemmon and the cannon had given them more than they could take. Especially after last time...that would never happen again. Charlie placed his shades back upon his face, neatly adjusting them. He'd then reach into his jacket pocket, pulling forth a small mechanism with some sort of timer attached to it. He'd gently roll this device away from himself and towards the group of downed Nightmare goons. "Sayanora, losers." As the device started making a ticking noise, the clock upon it began to count down from 10 minutes. It became very obvious what it was at this point - a time bomb. Without giving the group, or what was left of it, a chance to strike back, Vemmon activated his back compartment, revealing a small jetpack with tremendous power. Dust and various debris kicked up as the engine fired up, the alien taking to the air, grabbing his tamer under his arms and carrying him. Charlie laughed as he ascended above the rooftops, and finally, out of sight. Upon the wall Eagleheart was facing when the Nightmare group arrived, there would be a star with an eye within it - painted in blood...

Thesounds of fighting all but disappeared the moment the roaring beam made its course through the alleyway. No more digimon shouting out their attacks, no sounds of beams bursting through the air, and nobody swiping their cards. Just the sound of one person yelling, and then a load of gloating from Eagleheart before what sounded like him getting away on some kind of rocket.
Were all Americans like this? Probably not, but it didn't give a very good first-impression.As he put his cards and digivice back in his pockets, he prayed deep down that nobody was that badly hurt. That laser was strong, but it hadn't actually killed anyone in the tournament battle, and that blast had to go through who-knew-how-many people. Still, the moaning and groaning of the nearby wounded was disconcerting for the boy, and he wished he knew had to help them.He walked into the alleyway. First priority, he had to find Kuki. She had probably been caught in the blast. And he knew if she'd seen him enter the alleyway, she'd rush over to get him out. But she didn't come to him - she must have been too injured to do anything.Before he could call out for her, he noticed an odd ticking noise. Maybe it had been drowned out from all the noise before, but he hadn't noticed it when he hung back from the fight. It became clear what the source was when someone shouted it out:"It's a bomb!"
Oh no. His heart sank when he heard those words. He needed to get away from that thing as quickly as possible, but Kuki was somewhere in here. He began to call out her name, but it was drowned out by the sounds of panic and shouting.Someone grabbed Hideo by the waist, carrying him outside of the alleyway yet again. "Hey!" he protested, trying to free himself from this person's hold, "Let me go!" His efforts were futile, as this person had a particularly strong hold over him."No way in hell am I leaving you anywhere near that bomb! You shouldn't even have been here in the first place."He stopped his resistance immediately as he recognized her voice. His sister, Yasuko. Had she been here the entire time, fighting Eagleheart and his Vemmon too? She must have been pretty deep in there.
She dropped him back down, propping him against a wall outside of the alleyway. "Hideo, do you still have that motorcycle card with you?" It was obvious what she wanted to do with it - she'd actually asked him to lend it to her a few times since he got that card. But there was something else he needed before he lent it to her again.
"Yeah, but...we still have to find Kuki! And-"A light weight was tossed onto his chest. Instinctively, he caught it before it fell to the ground. A soft stuffed-animal with eight legs...wait. It was Kuki!...as an in-training. Had the blast been so bad that it forced her into this state? Gently, he shook her, hoping to get a response. He got a small groan out of her - good. She was still alive.As he hugged her closely (earning another pained groan), he heard the sound of his motorcycle card being summoned from nearby. His cards were still in his pocket, so how did she- oh, right. She was good at getting things from people without them noticing - not a big surprise she'd do the same with him.Just as the bike's summoning went silent, he felt her grab him by the collar, dropping him onto the bike's seat. "Wait a minute! We can't just leave the bomb alone! We need to-""You think you can defuse it?" she silenced him immediately, taking a spot right in front of him. "Neither of us are experts at bomb defusal, and I sure as hell ain't letting you move it somewhere else. Let someone else deal with it - I'm getting us out of here before it blows us up."He wanted to argue with her, but he knew that she was dead-set on this plan. She was always such a stubborn person to talk to, but he understood her concerns. He didn't actually have a plan for how to get rid of the bomb - just a vague thought that they had to get rid of it before it blew up the alleyway, everyone in it, and the buildings around it.And so, he held on to her as the motorcycle sped forward towards safety. Kaida first became aware that she was being dragged across the ground, then that something was burning...her lungs...her leg...and she tried to snap up, yelling in shock as her legs refused to make any movement. Some Nightmare goon was trying to drag her away, the alleyway having turned into a scene straight out of a war zone. She blinked rapidly as they passed some downed stranger, as if she couldn't recognize the burnt, possibly alive piece of meat on the floor was alive. Speaking of alive, she didn't seem dead yet...though perhaps she'd go and curl up in some corner for a week or so, she didn't dare try to assess the damage, just looking at the bloodied people and crumbling Digimon made her head ache...Digimon...Her eyes went wide, and her rescuer had to hold on tight as she shot upward and attempted to break free. "Wha-Chill girl! I got ya!" She ignored him, eyes roving the battlefield, " Jorgie! Jorgie!" He couldn't have died, not in that blast, he wasn't stupid enough to fall to such an obvious attack! He wasn't!...But she couldn't see a serpent in the fallen bodies! Just before her own rescuer would have to restrain her by force, something black and...round?...leapt up and clung to her shirt, looking half-conscious at best. Recognizable fangs stuck out of it's alarmingly small mouth, snake fangs. His In-training form didn't move, clearly exhausted, and she finally allowed herself to be taken away. " Bomb...b-bomb...g-g-go..." She was dumped unceremoniously outside of the alley, mind making the connection that she had to leave, now. Nightmare might not agree, but if there was a bomb, she wanted to be at her place and just...sleep? Sleep would be nice, she was tired of this, and threw herself alongside the wall, hobbling away as her rescuer went back in to save some other poor soul. She didn't get to say a thank you...but She was tired, she had to leave... (+1 Spirit!) |
